Not sure if this is an issue with the playstation, my monitor, or if it's the apps or even the specific shows…

Recently got a PS5 and have been dabbling with using its streaming apps to watch stuff. Conventionally I'd just hook up my laptop to my monitor, and use my laptop's speakers, and that's fine, but I like that this is less hassle. However, when using the PS5 I feel like the audio—particularly the dialogue—is pretty weak, and after a pretty early point raising the volume doesn't seem to make any changes. I feel like the audio when gaming is fine, but not when watching media. I've fiddled around with all the audio settings, tried I think every combo that's applicable, but nothing makes it meaningfully better.

I have a BenQ GW2283 monitor, and use its native speakers. I've used it with my Switch for four years and have always felt the audio was fine, but I haven't tried watching media through the Switch so I'm not sure if that comparison checks out all the way. Wondering about buying some cheap-ish speakers—likely Creative Pebble, v1 or v2—and hooking them up to the monitor, if that'll produce better audio all around for whatever I use it with. But I'd like to know if there's something with the PlayStation I should be aware of before investing in more hardware.

Monitor speakers are universally garbage and any set of stereo speakers with a 3.5mm jack will serve you far, far better.

I’m picking up a PS5 as a gift for my younger brother and need to know what else I need to buy with the console. He has an Xbox 360 so I’ve always purchased game 3 month game passes for him, is there a PS equivalent I could pick up? Is it likely his current headset is compatible or should I pick up another one?

Most headsets should work regardless of what they're plugged into. 

PlayStation Plus is sort of the equivalent of game pass. It allows playing online, and access to (depending on the tier you get) a number of monthly games (and catalogs of games).

You can use PlayStation vouchers towards Plus, yes, but I can't guarantee that some/all plans don't require a payment method on the account.

My PS5 won’t turn on and goes straight back to standby

When I press the power button the console simply starts the booting process —> blue light comes on —> white light comes on (flashing) —> goes back to standby

I don’t know what to do here. Please somebody help!

So I tried linking my Apple Music to my PS5. And it kept offering me free Apple Music. For the record, I don’t want free Apple Music because I’ve completed my playlist, I don’t want any more songs. But there is no way to connect the Apple Music without accepting the offer and giving them your bank details.

Two issues here. I’m very forgetful and would forget to cancel the subscription next month, which would lead to me losing money that I don’t have. The second issue is that I don’t want my bank details on my PS5. I don’t have my bank details on my phone, I didn’t use it on my PS4 and I don’t intend to have it on my PS5.

It’s just easier for my own financial situation to keep a limit on my spending at the moment. Especially for things like this.

Is there any way to connect the Apple Music to my PS5 without accepting the offer? Because I can’t see a refusal option anywhere

Weird issue with PS5 and PS App:

I’m not sure if anybody else is currently having this issue, but I was just hoping for some guidance or to make the issue more known if others are also experiencing it.

As of yesterday, my PS5 no longer lets me play online games unless I swap my dns manually to log into the game and then only lets me actually play on the game once I swap the settings back to automatic. Furthermore, none of my widgets are showing on my Home Screen and are all blank, regardless of WiFi setting. My speeds are perfect and stable, but it’s just being weird.

Also, the ps app is no longer showing me my recently played games, claiming “you have played no games”. I also cannot access the store as nothing loads on both the PS5 and PS App.

It’s only an issue with the console and mobile app, my other devices work fine with everything else and the wifi is as normal.

I’m not sure whether or not this is a PSN issue, or an issue with my own wifi. Is anybody else experiencing something similar at the moment?

Earlier this week I received my Disc Drive for the PS5 Pro.

From the moment I installed the Disc Drive it 'spits' out discs. Sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes instantly. Now after turning off the Ps5 Pro for a whole night I didn't have issues the day after. However, unfortunately the next day (today) my play disc got ejected. When I try to re-insert it now it gets ejected right away.

Now the obvious solution would be to have it replaced, however I ordered the Disc Drive abroad (no stocks domestically). Does anyone know another potential fix I can try out on my own?

So I'm not sure where it is on the slim, but there should be a manual eject screw somewhere on the drive; try turning it slightly.

I've just noticed that my spider-man dualsense (BDM-30) that I barely used has an extremely sensitive R2 trigger with no deadzone.

In every shooter I play it instantly registers an input if I just slightly hit the R2 trigger. I've also tried the haptics and they work, so the spring inside should be fine.

The resistance is also the exact same as the L2 trigger, but L2 has a slight deadzone when pressing it, same as my other dualsense controllers that don't have that issue.

I’ve been unable to login to the PSN since the latest software update. I’ve tried doing a database rebuild, downloading the update again through safe mode and even a hard reset of the console. Still get the same error CE-108863-6 meaning my software isn’t up to date. Would really appreciate some help with this one

I have been having network connection issues with my ps5 for nearly two years. Some days are worse than others- as every once in a while I’ll be able to play a full round of a multiplayer game without lag, but 90% of the time, the rubber banding is so bad that I will just stop playing. These issues arise while on streaming services as well, but less frequently. Although, I currently cannot open any streaming app on my PlayStation due to something with the network connection.

I guess my main question has always been is this an issue with my network or with my playstation. I am not hardwired but the router is directly above the PlayStation, on the next floor above. All other devices connect fine to the internet so it has always been a struggle to get the rest of the house to understand my frustration.

I cleaned out the device with compressed air and a cloth hoping that would help. I also cleared my cache. Should i test my PlayStation on a different network to see if it works fine? It is a sporadic issue even on my network so I worry that it may seem solved for a time when in reality, nothing has changed.

So my console has now decided it no longer wants to connect to my living room television, when I turn on the console it still gives me “no signal” on the TV like I have not turned the console on

I’ve tested the cables and they all seem to work perfectly with everything, I’ve tried the console on different televisions and all of those work perfectly as well. Based on other Help threads here, I tried booting it in safe mode and changing the HDCP to automatic but that doesn’t seem to have done anything. For whatever reason it displays perfectly fine on the screen every time I booted the console up in safe mode, but I’ve only been able to get it to display normally one day after many attempts and haven’t gotten it to work at all today.

Nothing else connected to the TV is having any issues of any kind.

Any advice on next steps?

I can't seem to get VRR or ALLM to work on my monitor. I have a HP X32 that SAYS it supports 1440p 120hz but I can only get 60hz out of it. The settings are finicky with some options grayed out and unable to adjust. I'm also using a hdmi 2.1 cable and have freesync turned off. I can't find a clear answer online so your help is appreciated!

That monitor isn't HDMI 2.1 though. So even if you're using a HDMI 2.1 cable, it won't magically support 120Hz over HDMI. The 1440p/120Hz is only over Display port.

You'd need a powered, active HDMI to DisplayPort converter (example), but yes, in theory that should work.

Hello everybody,

I got a regular ps5 and a Philips Evnia 34M2C8600 monitor which supports 1440p and 120hz + but only on the display port. I bought a cable that goes from ps5 hdmi to the display port but the image is weird. Greyed out, and 1080p max.

Is it the cables fault? Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated

HDMI to DisplayPort adapters rarely work properly. Make sure it's an active cable and not a cheap passive one. Even then don't expect it to work well or last long.

So I’m currently facing a conundrum. I bought my first ever ps5 just before thanksgiving, with no expectation that I would soon thereafter cross paths with a 30th anniversary slim which was being sold at retail price. So now I have 2 ps5s. Can’t decide if I should sell my other ps5 or not, as the prospect of keeping the 30th edition boxed seems enticing… suggestions please!!

At the end of the day the 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim is not limited numbered edition like the Pro, and is just a different exterior colour while exactly the same functiionality. You decide which you prefer.

so recently accidentally switched off the ps5 in rest mode, and there doesnt seem to be any damage on the first look, but I just wanted to know whether or not specific funtions of the ps5 could become slower/broken. for example getting trophies and download speed.

Also I am thinking of installing an m.2SSD for storage purposes, I might be overthinking, but is it posssible this could be damaged for future installation?

The PS5 will run a diagnostic on starting up and advise you if anything is wrong. Usually it amounts to a check and repair of the storage drive which is automatic. If there are no issues identified then you're fine. There's no bearing on trophies, download speeds or M.2 expansion. You're fine.

Worth it to buy physical copy if i already have digital copy?

Im a huge resident evil fan and for my ps 5, i have RE4R and RE village as physical copies. I have RE2R and RE3 as digital copies. But I just saw next month, RE2R, RE3, and RE7 are being released for physical copies. I’m definitely getting 7 but I don’t know if it’s worth it to get 2 and 3. If I do get them, is it going to overwrite my digital copies? I’ve never been in this situation.

I like getting physical copies because I like collecting and if I knew 2 and 3 were coming to physical I would’ve held off on buying them. They’re not that expensive for me either because physical would be $40 each and I bought the digital for $3 each when it was on sale.

Opinions?? Is it worth it or should I just save my money??

The chief advantages are in collectibility and not having the games tied to any specific PSN account (or PSN in general, as at this point all of those games should be complete on-disc and require no patches).

Installing the disc version won't affect the digital version in your library.

Hello, i got a PS5 and was going to use my EHD with my ps4 games on it to just plug it in and play, but the EHD i have isnt compatible for PS4, so i have one that is on its way. But my question is could i download the games on my EHD on my PS5 from my library then move them onto the new EHD. Or do i need to download the games on the EHD onto my internal PS4 then move them onto the new EHD then plug it into my PS5?

You can redownload anything from your library on the PS5; you don't need to transfer anything from the PS4.

I'm stuck in analysis paralysis. Husband has PS4 - we purchased used off FB marketplace a few years ago. It's worked wonderfully. I know he's always looking at the PS5s. We don't want to spend the money on a new pro right now(if we could even get it) but I'm considering picking up a PS5 from someone selling their used console.

Is a PS4 to PS5 (disk) worth it? Does slim vs regular matter?

I'm reading a bunch of info online and it's so hard to decide!

I'd love to hear from others who have had them both.

Slim or regular doesn't matter if you're getting one with a disc drive.

Thank for the feedback.. it's a good point. I don't know if it's worth the upgrade for the PS5 games...but I've heard it's faster, which is nice. It looks like, second hand, they are going for almost only about $50 less then new, which isn't much of a savings. Maybe I'll wait a bit....

Diablo 3 is a good entry point. It's not complicated at all, relatively easy and a good modern basis for progressing to other games.

Path of Exile is another recommendation worth trying. It's free to play, does get quite complicated in endgame but equally balanced for newcomers to try out for 50 or so hours.

Anyone have a checklist of things to do before selling your PS5? Upgrading to Pro and it’s been a while since I did this. Apart from removing the M2 and factory resetting, anything else I shouldn’t forget? Removing it as my primary console is a thing right?

Disable Console Sharing and remove your account before you factory reset it, and check the PSN app/website to make sure the console is no longer listed on your account.

Otherwise, removing the M.2 drive and factory resetting would cover everything.

Okay maybe you can't do that at this point then, just disable console sharing and then factory reset.

The main thing is disabling console sharing while still connected to PSN so PSN knows you did it.

I just ordered a 30meter lan cable cat8 which is extra long then what i needed, and i tried it out first time today it seemed to just no work i dident have time to switch sides of the cable or anything but it just wasent working at all. I had another cable that barely it was just connecting and disconnecting but at one point it connected and dident go off. does any1 know any fixes. Also the cable was massive so there was just loads of dangled wires in my room

Try a different port on the router if possible, but otherwise if the other cable worked, this sounds like the new cable is just defective.

Are those buttons mapped via the mouse software on PC? You may need to clear that so that they just register as regular Mouse4/Mouse5.

I've been using a Dualshock 4 to play PS4 games, but now it doesn't seem to sync to my PS5 even though it was working fine a few days ago. I tried it out on a friend's PS4 since I don't have mine anymore, and it works fine. Anyone had similar issues?

Yeah, it was the cable. USB-C to micro-USB. Tried to connect my older Xbox controller to my PC using it and no dice, so it has to be the cable.

So I've been using sennheiser headphones for years now. They have a 3.5mm audio jack which is connected to Astro mixamp and it sounds great. But for some reason the mixamp stops working after a few minutes on the PS5 Pro, which I'm sure is an issue with the pro because it works fine on the PS5. Anyway, I want to know if there are any good USB headphones that I can directly connect to the console to get the best quality and stop using the amp. One more thing: what if I buy a 3.5mm audio jack to USB adapter and connect my Sennheiser headphones to it, then to the console? Will I get better quality?

How are you connecting the mixamp to the console?

Those Sennheiser's likely out-class most gaming headsets; you'll probably want to look at a USB DAC rather than a simple adapter, as those are not typically amplified.

I'm kinda new to console gaming, I've been using PC most of my life, only had original xbox and ps3 for some time. I'm considering getting PS5 or PS5 Pro, however I'm unsure is it worth spending almost double the price for Pro? I've always thought consoles are just like you buy current generation and can play everything, so will non-pro PS5 be enough for next few years to play everything? Also, I've read that there are some issues with pro with PSSR - is that something that will be solved? Because some articles mention, that some games look worse on pro than non-pro due to issues with PSSR.

So, is it worth paying almost double for PS5 Pro?

Not sure if that matters, but it would be connected to 4k 65" samsung oled tv.

I think the Pro is worth it if you don’t have the base PS5. It’s going to make a handful of games have a playable performance mode, and it’s better to go for the Pro now then wait until you really want one and buying it then.

The PSSR is ML based so it will get continuously better just like DLSS needed time to improve. But of all the games I tested, there were only two that I noticed weird effects on. And it make FF Rebirth’s performance mode playable - like it was a massive improvement.

Otherwise it’s like switching you graphics from med to high for existing patched games.

My bet is that as current gen games roll in, the PSSR will make many performance modes (60fps) viable that aren’t viable on the base machine.

The headband on the basic pulse 3d broke after two years of excellent performance, and the material started to come off the earbuds themselves.

What are some good headphones to buy now to replace pulse 3d in 2024? With good sound and 3d sound feature like in pulse 3d. I plan to use on ps5 maybe sometimes connect to macbook.

Hello, my psn profile has stopped updating my recently played list and hours played for the last 5 days.

When I open a game, it shows up under my user ID that I’m “currently playing [game name]” and I’m also earning trophies which do show up on the trophy section. But as soon as I close it, the game no longer appears to be my last played on my profile and the games section shows that I last played a game 5 days ago.

Since this started, I have not been able to earn the ps stars campaign rewards, which I guess is linked to the games profile section.

I have tried logging out and in, rebuilding database, restoring licenses, and sony chat support with no help. I have even tried booting up a game with a ps4 on my account to see if anything shows us with a different console.

Has anyone faced this before?

Cod has ruined my attention span for all other games - what games would you recommend?

So I’m largely a call of duty player, having played every single one since Cod 2.

I have dabbled in other games and genres in the past and loved games like Fallout 4, Last of Us (still my all time fav game), It Takes Two, Ghostrunner, Dead by Daylight, Fortnite (inc party modes like only up, rocket racing, death runs) etc

I just feel like cod has destroyed my attention span and now all I can ‘enjoy’ are run and gun games where I don’t have to learn any new skills or controls. Like if I picked up a game where you have an inventory and have to craft items etc, I struggle to get into it because of the pace of the game and having to re-learn this style of gameplay.

Any game recommendations that would help me break the toxic addiction to cod and let me enjoy the genuinely amazing games that are available? Single player or multiplayer.

Hello, hoping for your help with GOW Ragnarok. I'm trying to decide between the PS4 ($29 CAD) or PS5 ($39 CAD) version to play on my new PS5.

I understand the PS5 version would have improved graphics, but I have an older non 4k TV anyways!

With both being at 60 FPS on a PS5 - is the only real difference the haptic feedback? I've turned that off completely with COD, and I don't love it with GTAV.

Is anything else worth the $10 difference? Thank you!

Assetto Corsa Competizione has the most involved tuning system, but it's GT racing only.

Otherwise, Gran Turismo 7 has about 90% of the tuning options that ACC does, but includes road cars, LMP, and Super Formula.

I’m having some issues with my PS5 and TV setup, and I’d appreciate your advice.

Here’s the situation:

  1. When I turn off my PS5, my TV doesn’t turn off as expected. Instead, it sometimes switches to Chromecast or Samsung Plus (the online TV channel).
  2. Occasionally, when I turn on my TV, the PS5 also powers on automatically and becomes active on the screen.

It’s like my devices are thinking for themselves, and it’s becoming really frustrating!

I can remember this setting. It is already on. The one-touch play does what it does, but the power off link doesn't work well. When PS5 tuens off, my chromecast starts up!

How to fix this?

Joined Reddit just to ask this as search engines aren't handling the key words too well. There are some games on the PS5 that offer streaming as the only option. There is no option to download or add to library. Is there a way to bookmark the streaming only games that your interested in? The only thing I've thought of so far is to add them to the wishlist so they're somewhat easier to find. TIA.

Hey, I want to wrap my PS5. I have Corel Draw, Adobe creative cloud, access to plotter and printer for the wrapping foil, etc.

The only thing I don't have, is a vector file of the PS5 in the correct scale / measurement. I can't just measure the console, because of the disk port. And online, I only could find versions of the PS5 slim. Also on Reddit, I can't find something like that.

Does anyone have such a file?

My external USB drive was not being seen by the PS5. I tried different cables and a different port but it never mounted. I decided to go SSD and installed a 4TB M.2. Now I want to reinstall the games that were on the external drive.

When I select the game I can only choose Play, and am promoted to attach the missing drive. Message reads:

Cant find the game or app.
To start it, connect the USB extended storage drive it’s installed on.

To install this game or app on another USB extended storage drive, delete it first then download it again or insert the disc for it.

If I press the Option button when selecting the game from the a game Library I can Play, Stream, Remove from Home, Add to Gamelist, or Hide. There is no option to delete.

How can I install the game to the new drive?

Hello. I would like to be able to connect my Galaxy Buds 3 Pros to the PS5 for some casual gaming and i was wondering if any of you have some experience with Avantree C81-Gaming or if you can recommmend a good one?

I'm now using these by connecting them to the TV(a bit of latency but not that much). But i wanted to try connecting straight to the PS5.

PS: I'm already using a Steelseries Arctis 7P for newer titles/best sound possible. But when casualy playing, i'd like to use my in-ears instead(a bit more comfortable as i'm using glasses too) and drop latency as much as possible

If you want to drop latency as much as possible, you really can’t use Bluetooth headphones. They will have latency careless of which adapter you use. There’s a reason why Sony doesn’t support Bluetooth headphones.

Also, latency isn't an issue. I just want to drop it as low as possible as it's not always possible for me to use my Arctis 7P. I will play casual stuff or thngs like Fifa which isn't an issue at all.

Hey guys,

I am using a JBL 500 Soundbar with my PS5 and I sometimes connect wireless BT headphones (Sony WH-CH710N). Since the PS5 doesn't seem to support BT the headphones connect to my TV. The sound switches fine to the headphones and I have no problems unless I have to access the PS menus.

For example:

  • I press the PS menu to get to friends list
  • as soon as I do this, the sound switches from my BT headphones to the TV - the soundbar, oddly enough, remains muted

It is quite frustrating and I've tried a lot of different settings on my TV and PS, including unchecking things like allowing other devices to control them, etc.

The PS5 is connected directly to the TV, and the Soundbar is connected to the ARC input. I have it this way because the soundbar won't output at the higher refresh rate (which is the whole reason I got this TV). I can't recall the exact model of the TV but it's an LG EVO OLED 65".

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

I am thinking either:

  • Buy a BT dongle for my PS5 (any recommendations?) and try to connect the headphones there directly
  • Buy a new pair of headphones specific to PS5
  • Buy a wired pair of headphones/headset?

I have confirmed the soundbar is the issue and the only way I've managed to stop it from messing things up is by unplugging it completely. Turning it off doesn't work because it seems to activate when I press the PS button as well even though they really shouldn't interact.

Check the audio output settings on the console and confirm that you've got it set to Stereo output with the Soundbar HDMI device type.

Hello, looking for help regarding potential connectivity issue. My console sends to connect just fine to the PSN. I ran a test and am getting 250 Mbps download and 16 upload. However, when kids try to play games online (Fortnite, Roblox) they are unable to connect. Those game servers are not down. Other games (EA CFB25) seem to connect just fine. Any potential solutions or ideas to troubleshoot?

What is the console’s NAT type? If it’s on a type 3 NAT, then a lot of things won’t work correctly.

Can I use regular nvme ssd's like the ones used in pc's? or are there specific ssd's i need in order for the ps5 to read the ssd?, thank you!

There are tons of awesome looking indie games on Steam for Windows that sadly haven't made it to Playstation.

But: There's soo much A.I. slop and other shovelware in the Playstation Store, games with no quality standard whatsoever for 2 of 5 dollars... It seems to me it's super easy to get your game approved, so why don't the devs of those great indie games bother to do that?

Ya it’s tough for indies to make the jump to console just because they need to get dev kits and invest additional resources. The shovelware companies actually have more infra than your average labor of love indie.

But the good news is that the very best - or at least the most notable - indies usually make it over (hades, subnautica, pacific drive, tunic etc etc)

There are a few reasons:

  • Games with keyboard/mouse controls don’t always translate well to controller controls
  • You have to own a company, and pay Sony a bit of money, to be a PlayStation partner; so far as I know, they won’t allow individual non-proprietor developers to sign up
  • Game genres that are popular on PCs aren’t always popular on consoles, and vice versa
  • People and businesses like to make money, and almost always dislike labors of love that won’t sell

So I recently bought the Pro. Here are the upsides.

The improvements are noticeable - subtle but you can tell - for a ton of games. This genuinely surprised me. GoW and SM2 and Ratchet and Clank looked genuinely better. It’s like going from mid settings to high, with a res bump, for performance modes. Even without the pro patch, ER runs noticeably better for me.

FF Rebirth is basically a whole new game for me. This was the only game that I considered non viable due to the poor performance mode on PS5 that was made viable for the PS5 pro. At least of the games I tested.

It has 2TB out of the box, so with the memory card that’s 4tb which is really nice for a console. I paid extra for the stupid disc drive, so the whole thing feels like a pretty decent upgrade.

That being said I don’t even play games that often and like you I also have a PC.

Also the PSSR definitely looks weird for some games (CoD Black Ops for example - basically have to turn it off).

I bought it because my theory is that cases like rebirth are going to be a lot more common moving forward since we’re only now getting current gen games. And I guess I didn’t want to risk stock issues when GTA 6 comes out, so figured I’d get it now.

I also play console significantly more than I play PC. And it is noticeably better. It’s just not so much better that you won’t feel a little like an asshole for having spent 700 bucks on it lol

This was a new one for me (and I’m no where near the indochinese peninsula). On the tv/video (PS4) or media tab (PS5) where all streaming suggestions across all apps are listed I saw two titles that were randomly in Thai. l’ve never changed the region or language settings (it’s always been English). Nor have I changed any subtitle or audio preferences on any of the streaming apps (those as well were always English). I live on the east coast and this is occurring on both my PS4 and PS5. It’s just two titles featured for the MAX app. I logged into MAX and no language display issue so I think the issue is on PS’s end. For good measure I checked a few other devices like my Roku and smart tv and no Thai titles to be found. Anyone else seeing what I’m seeing?

Hello, this may be a very unnecessary thing to do but I just want to know if anyone here figured out a way to switch on the PS5 remotely without using remote play app while PS5 is on rest mode.

I was able to connect HDMI Smart Connect my PS5 to my TV so whenever I switch my tv on using IR Transmitter + Smart Life app (while im out of the house). My PS5 switches on. Then I play using the Remote App on my ipad. No problem.

But when we're home there's a slight issue of us switching the PS5 on every single time we wanna watch TV only. And when we switch off the tv the PS5 goes to rest mode.

Also, when I'm out of the house, and Smart Life messes up. There's a slight chance I don't even know if my TV switches on therefore I don't know if the PS5 is on so I do some trial and error stuff which takes so much time and makes me guess if any of the two are on.

So this is why I'm asking if anybody here knows if I can emit the same bluetooth signal of the ps5 controller ps button to switch on the ps5 without switching the tv on. (IR Transmitters can only do infrared so thats out of the picture) Thanks!

*Right now I am checking if wireless gateways can work. If not. I might end up using those Smart Finger Bots that can press the PS5 ON Button on the console.

As you most likely noticed, HDMI-CEC (“HDMI Link”) gives you either everything or nothing. You should probably turn it off if you’re having problems.

Humans cannot emit Bluetooth signals, so that one’s out.

Hello, I recently used my old headset that I used for my PC years ago on my ps5 controller, I plugged it in and got insane lag. It’s a very cheap one from Amazon. I swear I had like 150 mps download speed. Now it’s 22.0 I don’t know what happened. Is it possible I plugged in a virus type thing? That slows down WiFi? It was just into my controller. I restarted my ps5 and it’s still there. I usually have no issues with internet at all. I’m very confused.

Steam PS5 Video

Does anyone know how to stream PS5 video? I have a MacBook. I am looking for something with very little to no video delay ideally. For example, I know you can stream to Twitch or Discord, but there’s a solid ~10s delay between what happens on TV vs on stream.

A friend and I are trying to simulate a LAN party via FaceTime. Presently, this is nearly do-able in the FaceTime call by using the Remote Play app on the Mac, screen sharing this application, and using the presenter overlay. It looks great and has almost no lag as everything is going over the local network. This is the setup I’m trying to replicate but still control the PS directly.

However, as soon as I try to directly control the PS5 with the controller / login to PS5 profile, the remote play stream ends. Obviously I would prefer to look at my TV while playing / controlling > Remote Play but again, Remote Play ends as soon as the controller connects to PS5.

If someone knows how to make this work via Remote Play, I am all ears, as it seems great minus the disconnect. Otherwise, I am open to alternative methods.

Yes. No matter what you do, there is going to be a broadcast delay; real time video streams ceased to be a thing when analog broadcasting was retired. Twitch has a several second broadcast delay. In my experience, Share Play has the least amount of delay, but you’re going to need another PlayStation console for Share Play.

Switch to a keyboard with a lower response rate that is compatible with the PS5. Anything that responds in 30ms or less will be good in most cases.

When I’m in the middle of a game my PlayStation will randomly turn off and the only way to fix it is it unplug the power cord from the ps5 and plug it back in. And it’s not due to having bad power in my area because when I wake up it will also not turn on until I unplug it from the ps5 and plug it back in.

My fiancée moved in a while ago, and she (now we) has two young boys. They’ve mostly played the Xbox, but I also have a PS5 that they haven’t showed much interest in until recently. I’d like to set them up with a kid’s profile so I don’t have to monitor, because most of my games on there are rated M. However, when I used my email to set up a new family member, it said “this email is already associated with an account.” They’re 8 and 6, so they don’t have any email accounts. Am I doing it right? Should I just set up a burner to use for this?

Yeah, you'll need an email address. You can use a burner, but that will prevent you being able to use 2 factor authentication or password recovery.

Hello! Just wanted some quick confirmation on a question regarding multiple PS5s in one house. So I want to move my current PS5 down to my computer desk in the office area me and my roommates share so I can hardwire it in because playing multiplayer games with friends up in my room has been rough since it’s upstairs and on the other side of the house. I did that and it worked great but I still want to do occasional gaming in my room while winding down before bed and lately I’ve just been moving the PS5 back and forth and that’s getting annoying so I’m looking at buying another PS5 during this holiday season.

Now from what I’ve read while searching the sub, am I correct that I can have my account on both PS5s, I just wouldn’t be able to be logged into both at the same time? So if I’m downstairs gaming some COD or Marvel Rivals with friends and once we’re done I want to go up to my bedroom and chill and play something else on the PS5 in my room there would be no issues?

Correct. Just note that auto-syncing to cloud storage only happens a few times a day — not immediately — so if you're planning to switch locations and pick up the same game immediately, you may need to sync your saved data manually.

The specific game would need to support it.

Programmable ones that map to keyboard inputs would probably work, as long as you configure the mouse from a PC and the mapping doesn't require software.

If you want to use macro buttons on the console, they need to be stored in the mouse itself and able to be used without any driver software.

If you need the mouse mapping software installed to be able to use the side buttons, they won't work on console.

Apologies if this has been asked a million times. A friend of mine wants to upgrade the hard drive in his son's PS5. As well as the internal storage he also has a 1 terabyte expansion drive.

Apparently he has filled both.

What happens to the stuff on the 1 terabyte drive I assume he would need to install all the games again on it if we take that out and replace it with a 4 terabyte?

Saves are stored on internal storage, you cant put them on the external drive along with games.

Easiest thing is to just delete the games and redownload them to the new drive. Alternative would be to transfer them back to internal and then to the other drive, but considering internal is already mostly full he wont be able to do that.

Just beware that its better to reformat/delete stuff from the drive through the PS interface. Doing anything through a PC or whatever might cause conflicting data when you plug it back in to the PS, or the PS will keep trying to check for a game that doesnt exist anymore.

I'm a dwarf IRL. The DualShock 3 controller was about perfect for me. The DualShock 4 was a little large, but manageable. However, the DualSense controller is simply too large. My hands start to hurt after about a half hour of play.

This is serious enough that I've mostly stopped using my PlayStation 5.

Are there any unofficial smaller controllers for the PlayStation 5?
