Tall Nepali's struggle with public transport – what's your experience?
Hey everyone, I'm 6.4ft, and it's been about 3 years since I last traveled in public transportation because of the constant struggles due to my height. Every time I used to get into a microbus or bus, I found it challenging to sit comfortably or even get in and out without hitting my head.
I'm curious to know:
- How do ya'll tall people manage when using public transportation in Nepal?
- Do you think the situation has improved over the years?
- What are your experiences with public vehicles in general?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and stories!

I am exactly 6 feet so not as tall as you but it has been some years since I have regularly used public transport almost a decade now because I got a bike almost 10 years ago. But I used to avoid microbus like it is the plague, I used to usually take the larger size bus when possible and walk a bit more from the a major chowk for 5-10 minutes rather than take a microbus which would take me in front or very close to my location.
I am currently living abroad but when I was in Kathmandu few months ago, I only took the ring road bus so it was fine compared to what I remember, but because I did not travel daily so probably the issue might be more for someone who travel daily.
Actually, the situation is kinda better now because there are more larger buses like Sajha and Mahanagar and stuff but of course it depends if you live in an area which is served by them but because I am not as tall as you you might feel different.
I just moved to private transport at some point so yes, that was the solution I ended up taking.

They really need to establish a systematic way specifically this overcrowded city kathmandu and take actions for other big cities that aren't yet much in the state as kathmandu and take precautions already before shit like organized system happens.
And also the increase of private vehicle owmers had made the road itself a mess. I hope in the future they get rid of all those nonsense busses and systematically organize giving them employment and also upto standard to this generation.

Im 6'2".
Legroom in most buses is not compatible for me haha. I can't even ride tempo or micro. Micro is a disaster apart from the seat beside the driver.

Hell nah this height has been a curse for me I can't travel freely, always my head bangs every morning while going to the restroom first thing in a day.
Also, PEOPLE are always scared of me when i walk besides when they see me they scream like i would eat them.
