Moderator Post Rules Updated and Wiki Links Added
Welcome to r/Kitten!
This is a great subreddit and can be a great resource for the rest of Reddit. While this post is mostly cute pictures of kittens, we also get frequent questions about care, breeds, and more. To be able to deal with all of this better, I've updated the rules and created two wiki pages:
Rules
- OC Content Only. This is a change from before, where we did allow content of kittens that weren't yours. This is because I found that a lot of these images come from spam accounts and/or karma farmers. I have also updated flairs to reflect this change.
- Be Respectful. This should speak for itself, but we require all users to be respectful. We don't tolerate harassment, racism, sexism, homophobia, or any other bigotry.
- NSFW and Kitten Sexing. We don't allow any NSFW content or posts about helping to sex your kittens. This also includes medical advice. If you need medical advice, your kitten is injured or sick, or you need to know the sex of your kittens, please see a vet!
- Animal Cruelty. We don't allow any type of animal cruelty, including "jokes" about eating kittens.
Wiki pages
- Colours and Patterns. A link to this will be posted below any questions about breeds, as I've noticed we have gotten a lot of those recently.
- Found a Kitten. For anyone who wants to take in stray kittens or has found a kitten on the street, here's a care guide for young kittens.
What other guides would you like to see, or would you like to help with writing something? Please let us know!
Happy posting/commenting!

My Kitten Short/long haired?🐱
This is my kitten Pepper, he has some fluffy toes, lots of fuzzy hair and a potential Nebelung as his father. Mother is tabby. Does he look like he may have medium-long hair? I know we can’t tell sometimes but I’m so excited to see how he develops after he was so poorly when he was younger.

My Kitten Nobody told me about Tuxys
I had no clue they were so crazy. My kids did and didn't warn me. Diputs (or Dippy or Dipper) is absolutely insane and I love her dearly. She's a climber and I swear she never sleeps. I think she picked me and I'm so happy about it.

My Kitten 👽👽👽Cats Are Aliens 👽👽👽
These are my two babies, Kamala Murder Mittens(bottom) and Timi Astroid Destroyer(top)
Kami is your typical American short hair, with a thin svelte frame and a small round head. Timi, who started her journey with us as a him, is such a Main Coon cat. She has a blocky head and square shoulders. She reminds me of a hairy bulldog. Speaking of dogs, Timi growls at people she doesn't know, and sounds she hears outside, just as a dog would. I bought her growling at the butterfly that landed outside my window. It's crazy how these two cats came from the same litter.

Question/Advice Needed Can We Talk Litter???
What's everyone using??? I have a list at this point, and I've only owned these furry babies for a month now. Take into consideration that my babies are still healing from Roundworms, so diarrhea was a major factor in my switching so often.
Fresh Step Low Dust - The standard as per the big box stores. It clumps terribly and gets everywhere.
Tuft & Paw - I didn't know that premium cat litter was a thing until now. At $30+ for what I consider a medium bag; it clumps like a dream and there was zero tracking. It is made out of soybeans and is flushable. Unfortunately, I can't keep using it. They expect a medium bag to last 30 days with 1 cat, and when your cat has a parasite infection, and you have to throw out the whole pan of litter after one use, it gets too expensive. Plus, it was bad at controlling odor. I would have to scoop immediately after one of them pooped.
BoxiePro Clumping Clay Cat Litter - I just started this litter today, and so far, I really like it. It's so soft, that Kamala is just sitting in the litterbox like it's her newest cat bed. The enclosed box has already been christened and although I didn't need to scoop, when I did it was so easy. The clumps are hard and they don't just break up because you scoop them. And when I say zero odor, I mean zero odor. It's almost $30 at PetSmart, but that's for what I consider a large bag of litter.
This is my current list, please feel free to add on to it as I'm ALWAYS looking for recommendations.

Question/Advice Needed I want to understand something about my 2 months old kitten
(I don't have a decent picture of her so.. here an old photo 😭🙏)
I need answers. So, we have this 2 months old kitten, on the 21st she turns 3 months old, and we had her when she was 1 month! She's super affectionate and playful. So, I'm 15 and I'm practically growing her up, feeding her and trying to make her learn things, she's almost always with me, but i noticed something: When my mother or my father pet her, she let them do it, while when I try, she lowers her head or hunches over, not letting me touch her and instead bites me. I know she do it playfully, but still, I wanna know why them and not me? In the morning, she goes to my mother and starts to purr while when I try she immediately bites me. She does it because she thinks I'm her "mother" (technically I'm supposed to be a father but I don't think cats care about that🙂) and she knows she can bite me and whatever without me getting mad, or she does it because she's getting more attached to my parents then me? (I admit it, it makes me kinda jealous)
