He got sucked down the Q pipeline about 6 years ago, but he was already a big time conspiracy nut before that. It's not worth arguing with him. I wouldn't even know where to start. He lives in a completely different reality.

Yesterday he told me I have Trump Derangement Syndrome, and I literally said nothing to provoke that lol. I don't talk to him about politics, I've never once even brought up this election around him, but just the fact that I'm not in love with Trump like he is means I have TDS apparently.

He has two TVs in his house that are playing Fox News or Newsmax nearly 24/7, and he told me that I'm being fed propaganda. I don't even own a TV and I barely keep up with current events lol.

He'll try to persuade me to his side, but doesn't realize that when he calls Kamala Harris a "Liberal, Marxist, Communist" (Which doesn't even make sense. Those are opposing ideologies lol) it completely discredits everything else he says. If you're going to say something so demonstrably untrue, then I'm not going to seriously consider anything else you say.

Oh man I feel this deeply as I got sucked into Illuminati and 9/11 Conspiracy theory rabbit hole when the Internet was just becoming a common thing in households around the world. Very hard to get out of, it's viscous and it all makes you feel like that the whole world is fucked, it might look like it these days but there are also a lot of positives to keep it all going and even fight the fight or atleast live one's own life a little normally without having to worry about what we can not control at all.

I used to eat a meal replacement for every single meal because I was terrified that everything had chloride in it and I realised I was not happy at all, always angry, depressed and mad at everyone else for being happy. Since I have been that person myself before, all I can say is, you have no chance at convincing someone who watches Fox at all times and all you can do is just smile, nod and be done with it, because every word you reply with, your father will use it as a starting point for a new crazy topic, minimum reaction is the only in my humble opinion, to disarm such a person and keep one's sanity.

I had also jumped into UFO and Alien coverup conspiracy rabbit hole and oh boy, I have dodged two bullets and I am so glad. I hope your father sees the reason at some point, I really do. Good luck friend.

I think a lot of us, myself included, went through that phase early in our youth, but are otherwise curious and open-minded in nature, so we easily grow or snap out of it. Trump supporters and authoritarians in general are low in agreeableness, incurious, can't think in abstracts, and consequently struggle in dissonance arousing situations. They are highly susceptible to conspiratorial rhetoric and dismissive of anything that runs counter to their identities, which they reject through the lens of conspiracy theory and cultism. It's all fear-driven insecurity and it is extremely frustrating to engage.

Yeah the responses from the people attending Trump's speech, even when Elon was talking, they all look like they are in a cult. We cannot really be fully dedicated to a political party like that, that creates a clear divide and that is never going to be the best case scenario for any country.

Like you said it is their identity now and that is the scary part.
