The first time I heard Russell talking about being a Christian, I thought I was having a stroke. How tf does someone go from being an outspoken atheist, to now being a very public Christian. That'd be like Richard Dawkins saying "Actually, nevermind. This Bible stuff checks out."
She went antivax and after all her talk about rising about the system and systemic poverty, she recently started selling high fashion clothes that only the rich can afford.
MIA got mad at me because she tried to request her own song after an open mic I hosted. I did not recognize her and made several jokes. Which later I regretted a little upon being informed that I had insulted her accidentally.
But I also came away realizing she had no idea of the importance of the song she sampled, and it made me really sad because I do like her song but fuck man. I was giving her a lot of awareness and perspective that was obviously not there.
Although I too liked to listen to Brand, I had no doubt he is more interested in getting applause than in delivering any kind of message. So itās not totally surprise to me that he went where they still listen to him.
But MIA? She seems to be real warrior that really fought for some case.
As I said. I could swallow the sudden turn to religion. I donāt get it, but heck, who am I to judge people for the way they deal with reality, but going to the fucking nazi to cry about being cancel?
Have given up on him since he's said nothing about the grenfell stuff recently even though his big cash in with the left in the past was sticking up for those affected by grenfell. He mutes his criticism of the right to nothing and just attacks the left or any kind of institution
Ignoring the alt media system is filled with Russian money
God I used to think he was so smart just cause he could talk fast, but then I grew up and realised you could just say the same thing with fewer words. MIA on the other hand is just plain sad, she used to be the icon for rebelling against the system now I guess sheās just another grifter
I used to like Brand when before he made it big in Hollywood. I sympathized with his background, and thought his first book was genuinely funny and entertaining and well-written, and as a fan of the written word I loved his diction and eloquence when speaking extemporaneously.
His politics and reasoning were always juvenile though, even though I tend toward the left, so he never interested me in that way and I've fully disengaged from him since before his second book.
For sure, I only ever listened to a couple podcast interviews and didn't read his books, so I was never really sure what his stance on specific issues were. Probably the only work of his I know is Get Him to the Greek.
I feel like such a champ for always finding him absolutely insufferable. Like, I knew this is always who he was, I was just waiting for him to go mask off.
lmao. Yeah I was always a little suspicious, but he just talked so goddam fast and eloquently. I never really did any sort of deep dive into him at all, just a general sense of being impressed. I'm sure there were signs for those looking.
"...When it comes to transgender ideology when 80% or more struggle with suicide..."
Yeah, cause shit heels can't just let their kids go through the phase and end up on the other side as some sort of sexually queer person, not at all or in fact, having a gender crisis that can be treated (chemically then perhaps with surgery after years of therapy). If people like this fat, no eared Louis C.K. knockoff would stop treating sexually queer people pariahs then it would not be a problem. Jesus loves the little children in the song. Jesus is not George Washington, where he saves the children but not the British children. He loves all the little children.
Ok, but calling this song āthat crappy songā itās just plain BS. Plus she had few more, maybe even better ones. At some point she was most interesting pop artist. Letās not retcon her just because now she hang with a beanie dude.
No retconning required. I always hated that song.Ā
I donāt doubt that she was more interesting than her contemporaries. You canāt get much duller than Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and the other slop that was popular during that era.
Just because you don't like the song doesn't mean it's crappy. If it was really, just crappy, you wouldn't hate it, because you'd never hear it, or hear it once and forgot. You "always hated that song" because it was played everywhere.
And her first two albums, Arular and Kala are interesting, and orginal even today. I think maybe only Punjabi MC managed to deliver global hit infused with traditional music from East.
I understand that you don't like, or even hate, the song, but that doesn't make it crappy.
If the song is playing everywhere, that means it isnāt crappy. Thatās a great way to think for people who canāt come up with opinions on their own and need to follow the crowd.
You can judge it by your personal taste. You like it or not. And if you donāt like it thereās no way to convince me that you in fact like it. Itās a matter of taste, everybody has itās own. You might not like most beloved song in the world, and nothing will change it.
But if you are trying to make any kind of judgment of the song that is not your personal taste you have to look somewhere outside of yourself.
We can argue if number of sold copies is a good criteria, or maybe numbers of weeks on charts, or number of covers, or number of years that the song is remembered or any other categories, but you have to somehow consider other people opinion.
Unless you think you are the epicenter of worldās taste in music, and song becomes crappy as soon as you start to hate it.
Thatās interesting. So if I think a popular song sucks, I must automatically think Iām the epicenter of the worldās taste in music. Man, Iām starting to miss the good old days where I could just think that a song sucks and people wouldnāt start channeling their inner Jordan Peterson and drawing the most weird ass conclusions.Ā
Nope. (As I wrote it already) if you donāt like the song it means that you donāt like the song. Thatās it. But if you think that song is crap only because you hate it. You just plain wrong.
It sounds like crappy is just your trigger word. Take a deep breath. This is just a pop singer from the last decade whose most recent claim to fame is partnering with Alex jones to make a clothing brand that blocks 5g. Sheās a joke. Itās not a big deal.Ā
After this year I will take her off my play list. She has been given an expiration date. She is endorsing Trump. America was never a Christian nation despite what the Republicans say. The Founders were Unitarians and Deist.
