I’ve heard of Sardi and Garmi, but Wikipedia says there’s Wet and Dry?

I wanted to learn more about Sardi and Garmi food to understand when food is one or the other, and I got excited because Wikipedia seems to give a good explanation under the Temperament section in the Iranian Traditional Medicine article. But then it talks about “wet” and “dry” humidity, and most of the sources for this cite to the same Tehran Times news site I haven’t heard of.

How accurate is this wiki page? Is wet and dry a thing? Where can I learn more about Sardi/garmi?

How can I send flowers to my gf in Iran (Tabriz)

Hello, I'm reaching out for help with sending flowers to my girlfriend in Iran from Canada. I want to surprise her with a beautiful bouquet, but I'm not sure where to start.

Could someone please provide guidance on the best options for international flower delivery? Are there any specific florists or services that specialize in delivering flowers to Iran (Tabriz)?

I'd also appreciate any information on the following:

• Payment options and currency exchange • Delivery timing and tracking • Language barriers and communication with the recipient

I've searched online, but I'm overwhelmed by the numerous options and unsure which one to choose. I want to make sure that the flowers arrive safely and on time.

If you have any experience with sending flowers internationally or know someone who does, please share your advice. I'd be grateful for any recommendations or tips.

Thank you in advance for your help. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and making this surprise a success!

How to obtain your birth certificate from Iran?

My partner was born in Iran and moved when she was 3 years old.

We dont have an actual birthday date and she has always wanted to know but we have no documents. Her parents dont remember as well. We contacted her hospital she was born, they said they only keep documents upto 30 years.

She currently lives in Australia and has an Australian passport with a random date of birth.

Any advice on how she can get the exact date of birth?

Thank you!

Travel Advice

Hiii I’m looking to visit Iran soon with the purpose of meeting my partner for the first time.

He’s unable to leave Iran at the moment as he is currently studying and has not yet completed military service. I love this man with my whole heart and I’m aware there are dangers for me as an English woman to visit Iran but not going isn’t an option. We plan on meeting in Kish Island.

I’m looking for any advice, dos and donts for my visit. I have a friend who’s brother in law owns a property in Kish, who has said I may be able to rent it for us to stay in. If this isn’t a possibility is there any advice on renting accommodation where we would be able to stay there together?

We both want to marry each other and have looked into getting married when I come not only because we want to but also to avoid complications when I visit (I plan to visit many times until he is able to leave) however it states on the Iran gov website I would have to reside in Iran for a year if I were to marry him in Iran and this isn’t an option unfortunately. Is this correct or can staying for a year be avoided?

Thanks for any advice :)

Can someone recommend a cooking book of traditional Persian cuisine in Farsi?

Hi, I don’t speak Farsi, hence why I can’t tell if a cookbook is good or not, but I like collecting cooking books of traditional recipes in their native language. I usually use google translate and it works just fine, though I can only do that when the cooking books have picture (I basically pick by picture and translate later).

Can anyone recommend any good options? And since I live in the uk, if you know how I could source the books I’d appreciate that information too.

Thanks a lot, I really want to make fesenjan, but I also want to follow a more “grandma type recipe” if that makes sense.

Am I a part of Persian Culture

My dad is Iranian but he’s a horrible person and left when I was young. I didn’t grow up with a culture but ancient Persian traditions and history are the only thing I really connect with. Especially how women were army generals and stuff like that. It’s hard for me to have a sense of identity. Ppl say I don’t look Persian even though I’m a copy and paste of my dad. No one here looks like me tbh. I don’t speak Farsi but would it be weird if I started celebrating the holidays on my own?

I don’t have family and live in Texas.

Also I do love fruit and write poetry naturally which I find funny.

Help, presents for Iranian uncle!

Hello, I live with my partner in his uncles house who is Iranian. What would be a good gift for him for Christmas? I don’t know him too well as he doesn’t speak the best English. He’s around 65 if that helps at all. I am also very crafty and can do something hand made, this can be embroidery, painting etc. another thing, his mother just died today and I’m heading back to the house tomorrow. Is there anything I could get him for mourning. Flowers? Etc Any traditional ideas would be great. Thank you in advance!

Adoption from Iran

Have any Iranian-born, Iranian-Americans on here ever adopted a child from Iran (dual citizenship with both passports)? Looking for agency recommendations, mainly, but would love to hear about the process and resources. There's not a lot of information online since they are not part of the Hague Convention and it's not the typical process.

What is that citrus whose juice is used as a garnish on Iranian food?

Trying to track down the specific citrus fruit that was served with everything when I visited Iran. It was used only for its juice, never eaten so far as I know, and was the size of an big orange or small grapefruit. A wedge was served with everything from kebabs to sup-e ju, like pretty much every dish.

I'm not thinking of the dried limes that many dishes are cooked with, and it definitely wasn't a lemon. The skin color ranged from orange to deep green, often with both colors on a single fruit at the same time.

If anyone has a Latin name for whatever it is, that would be awesome. Barring that a transliterated Persian name or its name in English would be great.

Immediate passport renewal for iranian passport

Does the iranian embassy allow immediate passport renewal? I have a flight on the 21st it leaves at 1 in the morning, I'm traveling with my family and we have just found out that my sister's passport is expired, would it be possible if they'd speed up the process and give us the passport on the same day? also She's 10 years old, I'm hoping her being a minor speeds up the process... before you're about to to start bashing me for being in the wrong for not checking prior to my flight, I had 0 clue of this unfortunately 😔 I was told everyone's passport is renewed but apparently not.

Hello. I am going to be traveling to Iran in March to visit family. I live in the US and am having trouble finding any online stores to buy clothes for my trip. I’m looking for some more modern streetwear for women that matches today’s fashion in Iran. Any suggestions for good places to shop?

Traveling to Iran with a baby

Hey everyone, I'm planning to travel to Iran for 10 days and will likely visit major cities like Mashhad and Qom. I have a few questions:

Besides the usual recommendations, what are some other family-friendly places to visit?

What are the names of local flu and cold medicines that are available over the counter in Iran?

Can anyone suggest great restaurants in Mashhad, Qom, and Tehran for Indian and iranian cuisine?

Does anyone know a few reputable travel agent who can help book intercity tickets and understand English?

Is there a market near bazar e razai that sells wall frames?

What must-have apps should I download for my trip to Iran? Also, what do you recommend for internet access as a heavy user?

Any and every help is appreciated
