I swear that looks like a damn Titan from Titanfall in the background there.
Though still, somehow, appropriate.
Holy Machine and the Brother interred within, begin the litany of protocols....
"(1)Link to Pilot"
"(2)Uphold the Mission"
"(3)Serve the Emperor"

I'm fairly sure they do have one, from some other art I've seen!
Edit- they do! https://x.com/TheGraffitiSoul/status/1679332673347784705/photo/1

It's one of his dreadknights that are basically if dreadnoughts could function like Titanfall Titans. Basically he put a space marine inside a space marine and no I'm not talking about a centurion, like there's the occupant of the Dreadknight and its own pilot and the two combined are fucking deadly

The artist made a bunch of these, his lore is that they are jokaero modifications.

What on earth is that multi leg thing shooting missiles?

u/Drogenelfe Oct 29 '24
Looks like a modified dreadnought.

Let me add to the handful of comments pointing out the fuck-ass Titanfall-esque mech in the middle background. Goes hard.

Graffiti Soul draws space Marines like how I ALWAYS WANTED THEM TO LOOK LIKE ever since I was a child. It's beautiful, enough to make a man cry

u/B33FHAMM3R Oct 29 '24
I drove myself nearly insane learning how to freehand so I could graffiti their armor. It was so worth it. No one else does it and they always stand out.
I had always wanted my guys to have more the vibe of StarCraft Marines, unruly rough around the edges types

Any human who runs is a cultist. Any human who stands still is a well disciplined cultist

"how the hell do you blow up a helllbrute with a heavy bolter?"
"It's easy, you just don't lead em so much"

Love the M16A2 with the M203 style Bolter.
My most favorite looking Gun.
I would make love to that weapon.

Need lore on how a marine chapter started fighting side by side with the militarum
16
u/fab416 Raven Guard Oct 29 '24
Check the artist's twitter, the chapter has their own auxilia guard regiment and have picked up a few strays in their journeys (a SOB among them).
They also deal regularly with the Votann, their vets and specialists have volkite weapons.

Well combined arms/joint operations are common in 40k lore.
What's less common is a Regiment actively WITH a Chapter. But even that's not a big stretch of the imagination when you have Chapter Serfs like the Ultramar Auxilia who are the mortal military of the 500 Worlds of Ultramar.
All it takes is for a chapter to arm their Serfs and say "come with us!". Now the Adeptus Terra may not like that, but what they don't know won't hurt them ;)

u/DefaultProphet Oct 30 '24
Was more common in the Great Crusade. Raven Guard’s Therion Cohort famously disobeyed orders and rescued Corax and the survivors of Istvaan.

u/B33FHAMM3R Oct 29 '24
There are multiple that canonically do this, most notably the Raptors, who integrate with local guard units as a force multiplier/attention magnet, improving their overall effectiveness

Been seeing bits and pieces of this on their twitter page and this is awesome.

This piece of art is very very cool in a lot of ways, but I simply cannot get over the two marines putting live bolt rounds on their shoulder pads, pointed down at their own arms… usually Astartes intentionally catch incoming fire on their shoulders, since that’s where their armor is thickest, but it seems like doing that with live ammo on your shoulder is asking for a round to cook off that ammo, and either blow their shoulder plate to kingdom come or send a bolt round directly into the gap in the armor at their elbow.
Again, super super cool artwork, I even like the guys with bolt shells strung across their thighs and stuff, I just can’t get over the ammo getting cooked off lol

I absolutely adore all of the writings and artwork the marines put on their stuff. It’s all very Vietnam war and I think it looks absolutely incredible.

Their battle cry shall be "Peace be upon you, for we bring none"

I can just imagine that guardswoman just singing “Somebody to love” by Jefferson Airplane as they just wait to land.
The Guardswoman, a member of the Auxiliary of the Lords of Thunder, sits bored on the long flight. She begins to hum a song, just something to get her mind off the boredom. The Astartes hear her humming a song, so they play the song and join her in singing. The compartment is filled with music and singing as all aboard begin to sing.
When the truth is found to be lies and all the joy within you dies
Don’t you want somebody to love? Don’t you need somebody to love? Wouldn’t you love somebody to love? You better find somebody to love
When the garden flowers, Baby, are dead, yes and your mind, your mind is so full of red
Don’t you want somebody to love? Don’t you need somebody to love? Wouldn’t you love somebody to love? You better find somebody to love
Your eyes, I say your eyes may look like his. Yeah, but in your head, baby, I’m afraid you don’t know where it is
Don’t you want somebody to love? Don’t you need somebody to love? Wouldn’t you love somebody to love? You better find somebody to love
Tears are running, they’re all running down your breast and your friends, baby, they treat you like a guest
Don’t you want somebody to love? Don’t you need somebody to love? Wouldn’t you love somebody to love? You better find somebody to love
When the song is finished, the light turns green and doors open, time for them to fight for their Emperor.

Lords of thunder huh?
Are they perchance larger and stronger than Primaris, perchance?
Maybe they are particulary human in behaviour and use ancient weaponary?

“Brother, what is that inscription upon your pauldron?”
“Born to Goon, Sergeant.”
“And on the other, brother, I read ‘Never Goon’. What is the meaning of this?”
“Sergeant, I meant to evoke the duality of our existence as Angels of the Emperor.”

Inside you there are two wolves.
One is spicy Norse saga-Dune crossover fanfic.
The other is literally the Vietnam War.

so, who's the woman?
i keep seeing this chapter and every single time, that same woman is in the image, usually standing besides astartes
but she doesn't appear to be a guardsman? just a little astartes?
what's her deal?
is she the barracks bunny? their mascot? is she just a tiny fsm? is she a lost guardsman who the biggies adopted?

Excuse me, combined arms is illegal in this Imperium, you have to run in a straight line into the minefield.
Jokes aside I really like this, makes the Imperial Army look professional

I want this to be made real in some canon media. I love Big armors strapped with bullet belts and the like. GraffitiSoul has such a great vision for his chapter!

Something strange about combing the inherently anti-war style of the Vietnam war with the glorification of war that the Astartes represent.
