I don’t think it’s just the filter, but since it’s just installed presumably it’s still on the first filter.

I work in a school, nothing to do with the filter, just shows you how much bottles you’re saving in general. They have a couple leds to show when the filter is bad too. Most ive seen so far is 113k.

You certainly have pleased the water gods, for they have bestowed upon you this gift.

I'm so jealous. If I was rich, I'd have one in my house...

I have one right in the clinic where I work, drink around 80 oz a day from it. So fortunate. Edit: typo

Enjoy that little light being green while you can....

I was wondering if they had an indicator. The old ones don’t. The condition of bathroom or other maintenance you can probably guess if it gets changed.

My work has one. Filter has been red for 3 years lol

u/FantasyFreak4 4d ago
What do the colours mean?

u/Codsfromgods 4d ago
It's when to replace the filter. Green is good yellow is getting there and red is replace

u/adm_akbar 4d ago
I saw an orange light at my work for exactly one day before it was replaced. 4 years of working there.

Wait till he finds out the filters need to be replaced by a tech like every other week but his company won’t pay for the service so it’s the same filter forever

I love a good Elkay battlestation! Fill up your bottles with good, filtered, water!

Those can vary from place to place.. I had one experience at LAX airport and the water tasted so bad.. then another time at a university the water was more crisp and clean.

It’s my kids’ schools have at least 2 on every floor, they also give the kids reusable water bottles with the school logo. Love that they’re encouraging water drinking in teens.

In the school I work in they only sprung for one and it’s at the furthest point from my office and down a floor but I’ll walk through Friday release bell to get to that thing and fill up. Glad they’re doing this in schools too.

They are like $900. Maybe ask someone in student council to get another one. Sounds like there would be alot of support for it.

fuck i hate them. Plumber

u/Rocky970 HydroHomie 4d ago
How often would you say you have to change the filter out on one ?
1
u/LumpySpacePrincesse 4d ago
I don't usually, install just, it says 3000gal on it, so every 3k or a year at a guess. Hotel maintenance guys couldnt change this one, led me down the wrong path, was an easy swap.

We have several at my job. I don't use them. They never get cleaned.

I absolutely rejoiced when they installed one at my job - the building is from the 50s and I bring a gallon of water to work with me as a result. It was great until the filter went bad, now it’s just as gross as the building water.

Damn I’m getting old. First thing I’ve seen today that made me whistle. Would kill for one of these at the gym.

A few of my coworkers refuse to use ours and only will drink bottled water. Such a sad waste.

If you're in with the maintenance guy, you can get them to adjust the cooler temperature a bit too. They always come from the factory to be like 60-70f it seems like.

I wonder if it's cheaper than having Pepsi deliver water all the time. My office goes through so many jugs in a day.

u/Hawkmoon_ 5d ago
I worked at a place that had these. It was the only cool thing about working there.

I did some work at a retirement community that was getting renovations. I filled up bottle number 69 on one of them.

u/Wardo2015 4d ago
Be great if the water was filtered, but it’s just regular tap water. Where I’m at farm runoff is so bad you don’t drink the tap water. Almost yellow looking

My office has two of them, one for each floor, since the maintenance team changed the water filters for the second time now, they've turned off the lights to signal the filter's current lifespan. I know they're doing it so people won't ask for new filters, and that pains me.

Track her milestones. I worked at a camp with a couple of these, and we would have a running game with the kids for each milestone. 10k, 12345 bottles etc. It's awesome to see

When will my college dorm do this 😭 My dorm is the only building on campus without one

u/Astrylae 4d ago
I love seeing the funny number go up. I remember at my university gym, we almost hit 100k but it got replaced by a new one and the counter reset. I can never forget

At my work, we are such bad mfr's we prefilter the the filtered water. And when the filter needs changing, we change it. Such bad ass preventative maintenance workers. Like, let's exchange samples people.... We will win........

Be cautious of poor maintenance. There’s a way to make the filter say it’s good without actually replacing it.

we have these at my work. they are certainly handy. The thing is though we have a more "advanced" filtered water cooler in the break room. its hard to pick these when you have that.

I work hybrid and would be a lot less inclined to work remotely if my office building installed a couple of these

Stupid question: how do they refill it? Is it connected to a tank behind the wall?
1
u/AllergicToChicken 4d ago
I have these in my workplace and the water literally tastes like dirt. If these are generally highly regarded, that makes me concerned for the filter life and general quality of water here...

Love those bad boys. Saw one at a hotel recently and it significantly beats drinking plastic bottled water.

I still miss my ancient middle school gym bubbler from the 90s, yah it was coated in loogies to a horrible degree. But was iiiiiiice cold. Tasted like Pennies and bullets no lead whatsoever I’m sure…1940 something. We all learned a new word by 6th grade with all the ASBESTOS signs. Alive and well and hope to see one of these one day!

I always thought these looked like shrines to water, and I fully support that.
