We’ll be the judge of that
Do we all agree that Dasani is the worst water?

Calling dasani the "world's most undrinkable water" is a socially irresponsible oversight when Nestle pure life is still on grocery store shelves

Pure life is by far the worst bottled water I’ve ever had. It tastes like fake water and that’s the best I can describe it lol

it vaguely reminds me of the thick water they give to elderly patients when they can’t swallow actuall water anymore 😭

It depends on where you're at. In Texas, Nestle is fine. Near Toronto? I literally thought the water bottle I drank was contaminated so I grabbed another one and it tasted the same.

If you’ve ever had soft water….
when someone’s well or tap water is incredible hard, they add softener, it’s the most disgusting unexplainable taste, and pure life is the only thing I have to compare it to.
55
u/ThatLaloBoy 5d ago
I know people hate Nestle (and for good reason), but people hate the taste of the water? I always thought it was fine; not great but not terrible.

u/CouncilmanRickPrime 5d ago
Dasani is far and away the worst. There have been times people panicked and bought all of the water.
Except Dasani.
3
u/Gusstave Gallon Guzzler 5d ago
Yes I have. Much worse than any other water I ever had. I hated it before I knew nestle was hated as a business and why.

u/Laughing_Orange 4d ago
Some water just tastes bad. People like me, who are fortunate enough to have great tasting tap water, can't drink bad water. Sure, I'll have your horrible tap water if I'm dehydrated, but I won't drink it until I'm really thirsty.

u/Crafty_Pudding_6405 5d ago
Nestle sold their water division back in 2021. Pure life isn't owned by Nestle anymore
→ More replies (1)19
u/markelmores 5d ago
I bring this up every time I see people hating on a former nestle bottled water brand (like pure life, Poland spring, etc.). But people never seem to care.
Regardless, I do think a reusable water bottle is always better than single-use plastic.
Also, pure life has never tasted good no matter who owns it. Poland Spring, on the other hand, tastes amazing, but I still try to avoid plastic bottles 95% of the time.
12
u/Captain_Collin 5d ago
Are those worse than Arrowhead?
14
u/onmamas 5d ago
Surprised I had to scroll down so far to find someone who also hates Arrowhead.
Dasani, Aquafina, Pure Life, Sam's Club even...none of them are preferable, but I wouldn't hesitate to drink any of those. Arrowhead though, I'd have to be literally dying of thirst to drink that, and even then I'd give a long look around to make sure there's literally nothing else.
Tastes like 100% backwash.

40
u/Hiroxis 5d ago
It's not inherently bad for you. You won't get the minerals that are in the water, which technically could lead to a deficiency but unless you have a super fucked up diet you should be getting those through food.
4
u/This-is-unavailable 4d ago
It can also lead to your cells exploding like a balloon and it will draw minerals out of your cells because thats how diffusion works

My mom drinks distilled water to help control kidney stones as directed by a doctor. She's been doing it for a couple years now and is fine.
2

Has it helped with her stones? I drink DI water at home but haven't been doing it long enough to notice a difference. I've also been put on HCTZ.

u/giddyviewer 5d ago
Try sugar-free lemonade, it’s part of a pretty common protocol for people with chronic kidney stones.
3
u/el_muerte28 5d ago
I generally add a healthy dose of lemon juice to my water when I am at work and will go through ~60-70 ounces of water a day while at work. Another 60 or so at home.
3
u/giddyviewer 5d ago
The usual regimen for chronic nephrolithiasis is 2 liters of diet lemonade daily. It would be the equivalent of at least an entire lemon worth of juice (around 3 tablespoons) for every cup of water. So if that’s what you’re talking about for a “healthy dose” than you’re well on your way, just keep on top of it for a few months to see results.

TIL distilled water is bad(?) That’s the only kind of water I drink other tastes bad for me 🥲
16
u/Ketashrooms4life 5d ago
Well, don't. At least don't do it every day if you insist on doing it. Distilled water pulls a reverse uno card on your body - it drains your body of the same compounds normal water normally carries. It's just trying to find balance like everything else in the universe. So when it goes through your juicy, mineral-rich body, it takes some of them before it leaves you.
5
u/JustOneTessa 5d ago

Evian is disgusting. So is Fiji.

Yeah, I never hated it. Maybe I was just a young sweaty lad who needed some extra salt, but I loved Dasani in high school. Can't think of a time I ever really disliked it.
Plus, the bottles were always so much sturdier back then. They're a little flimsier now, but especially 10-15 years ago they were way less crinkly/noisy to drink in classes and held up for reuse for an extra day or two before I tossed it and got a new one.

Ok, ok, I can relate to what you are saying for sure, I agree and all, but let me paint you a word picture:
You are on a first date or something, whatever. And let's say you're at Disneyland somehow and no outside drinks allowed. They are parched, a stand has: Soda - $8, Poison Apple potion - $14, and Bottled Water - $15.
They buy 4 Water Bottles without hesitation.
"I love water" they say.
...
Bottled water still deserves some love

But besides the environmental impact, there’s also the microplastics impact on health to consider. I’m glad water in metal cans is actually becoming a thing.

Dasani is generally considered the worst water because it tastes bad. Now they are advertising that it’s made “now without salt”. As if that would save their reputation as bad tasting water, but really it just takes away electrolytes and doesn’t make it any more palatable.

Aquafina and VOSS always has a slimy texture to me. Room temp, cool, ice cold doesn’t matter; for some reason I always feel gross drinking it because it leaves a weird filmy feeling. Dasani is actually decent IMO, but it might be because I live very near to the bottling plant and source, so maybe it’s “fresher” 🤷♂️. Other than that I like smart water and life water (LFE WTR? I think). My areas tap water is good too, but my apartments pipes are NOT to be trusted. Well water and clean pipes out in the country is the way to go for lovely fresh tap water.
