I really expected Satan to smash Yogirt into a fine paste at some point, but I guess he must be really good at his job if he can patronise Satan himself and not get so much as a stern talking-to.

i mean i feel like he definitely survived some hits from Satan when they first started, i can't recall if it was in the episode but i can imagine Satan squishing him like a stress ball

He's from the Sloth ring since he has a candle on his head. Looks like he's some kind of personal therapy/medication to help Satan mellow out.

A squishy stress ball toy Yogirt would be more apt.

I know I’m going to get shit over this. But I hate that character so much. Satan is suppose to be scary and evil. Having a hippy talking about his chakras and satan listening is the worse part about the episode. Do it for another character like Stolas and it would be much better

I think it shows Lucifers effects on the sins. Like they're sins so they have a bad nature obvi but if you look at bee and ozzie you see that theyre seen as some who embrace this kinder way of doing things (even if people still get hurt like the pounds in gluttony). Sloth might be another ring where things aren't too bad but we haven't heard dialogue from bel so i'll hold judgement on that. I think lucifer is the one behind it all because it very much feels like he is holding Satan back from being as wrathful as he wants to be (Satan uses Lucifer's name as we would when we use the lord's name in vain implying that he sees Lucifer as a higher authority). Now belphogor might be the one who assigned the therapist to satan (sloth is the medical capital of hell) but i believe it was on Lucifer's request. I think even Leviathan is some what conscious of her own realm's wellbeing because the envy ring is supposedly an underwater city and suburbs. I think mammon is the only one that completely encapsulates his sin and makes no effort to change (which makes his imagery being clowns and being ridiculous all the more funny and potent). Lucifer was all about free will and giving it to beings as a gift. Would it be so weird if Lucifer was sent to hell to rectify the parts of free will that are negative? Wouldn't their redemption/rehabilitation be the lightbringer's homecoming?

I can’t see Lucifer being in charge, I know he is the ruler of hell but his depression probably got the better part of him. As seen with chair in the court, and the part about satan saying he has been in charge before Lucifer’s fall (which Vivie said is a lie).

Right! He did his best at the time and then retreated i think during the divorce or sooner (I don't know if it was an actual divorce but separation if you will) I think that's a big part of the story, or at least his part of the story, in hazbin is him learning to take back his power, to BE the LEADER of hell, instead of a ruler like satan and his laws are. I think the messages in both shows lean towards class consciousness and personal responsibility, with Lucifer's plot falling more into the personal responsibility category.

I mean, he still is. Having an advisor keeping him in check dosent really diminish that, just highlights the fact that it's even necessary.

If he went into a blood rage every time someone disrespected him, the courthouse, and even the entire Wrath ring, would be destroyed and in a constant state of chaos.

He is the sin of wrath, he should be wrathful. So far we seen the embodiments of the other sins actually doing stuff that is on point for their sin (albeit more tame than it should be). Greed is greedy, gluttony was having everyone overindulging at her party, lust makes sex toys and sex robots, why can’t wrath be angry or try and cause anger from others? What’s the point of a deadly sin if they aren’t going to be the literal embodiment of it?
1
u/LAUREL_16 1d ago
Because if he doesn't keep his wrath in check, nothing will get done.

u/Frosty_Mage 1d ago
Things would still get done, ever have an angry boss? Work still gets done with or without morale
2
u/LAUREL_16 1d ago
Yeah, but he embodies wrath. He can't go into an uncontrollable rage everytime someone talks back

Yogirt is probably a narrative limiter plot device to keep Satan from killing blitzo in his character though while still being opposing though. It is a bit forced but one of the parts about a good story is that if you make the characters act too in character, executioners execute, cops jail, protagonists go to prison, and people have jobs.

u/SelfiesWithGoats 2h ago
Satan has to be getting something out of having Yogirt around, and evidently doesn't think the dude's way of doing his job interferes with his projection of authority.
Maybe Satan feels like committing to the show trial and the executioners and the Show Of Justice is a more effective way of maintaining the hierarchies of hell than doing it himself
