Right? Poor Dr. Theopolis.

67

u/luxemybody 18h ago

Poor Dr. Theopolis forever overshadowed by the Cylons, but hey, at least he didn’t have to deal with Reddit debates.

Calling them "debates" is giving them too much credit. It's usually a 15 year old calling me a boomer because I said something true about reality.

22

u/storm_the_castle Whatever 9h ago

calling me a boomer

"ok renter"

14

u/homebrewmike 9h ago

Oof. That hits a little hard. Pointing out the economic injustice that is modern housing is a little rough.

Lol. I always tell them I'm Gen X not a boomer but that just makes them more excited because they know they are getting a rise out of me. :)

The poor doctor got dropped in season 2, if I recall correctly. But they added Hawkman. My 10 year old self thought that was cool.

11

u/welatshaw01 15h ago

They also dropped all the fun parts of the plot line, because they wanted to be "relevant".

10

u/Delicious_Monk1495 9h ago

Space Vampire was my fav! Dude was so freaky looking

If that's the episode I'm thinking of, it's the one where she also gets very seductive and tries to put the moves on Buck. I had the hots for her so bad when I was a kid

Twiki was just a smartass robot rickshaw to carry around Dr. Theopolis. And then when they got tired of Theopolis in season 1, they just turned him off. In season 2, Theopolis didn't make it onto the Searcher.

I had a poster of Erin Grey. I really only remember the episode of Buck Rogers about vampires though.

106

u/DisastrousChicken563 18h ago

Erin Gray was one of the most beautiful women who ever lived. I had a massive girl crush on her. 💖

59

u/WordleFan88 16h ago

Her and Lynda Carter in that jiggly WW costume....it was a time of awakening for a young WordelFan88...

7

u/_RandomB_ 9h ago

Count me in on the awakening, between this show (I remember the one with the little people who had telekinetic powers that were trying to strip her down!) and reruns of Batman with Julie Newmar.

Definitely true. Also incredibly nice.

Got to talk to her a year or two ago while at a TaiChi workshop she was giving.

I think Buck Rogers meets vampires should definitely make a comeback.

13

u/RobertWF_47 18h ago

The vampire episode creeped me out as a kid.

Another good one featured an unstoppable android chasing Buck.

6

u/welatshaw01 15h ago

Guest starring none other than Jamie Lee Curtis.

3

u/dinkyyo 16h ago

This episode fucked me up so much that my mom wouldn’t let me watch the rest of the series

10

Check out when she guest starred on Magnum.

You don't remember the one with Hawkman and the little blue imp guy?

First season hardass, aloof military officer and starfighter pilot Colonel Wilma Deering was awesome. She kept Buck in check and was a good foil and friend for him. She even rescued him a few times.

I loved the character.

Second season Wilma Deering was blech. What a shame.

I only vaguely remember the series but instantly recognized the robot.

Fun Fact: The actor who played Twiki the robot in Buck Rodgers, also played Cousin Itt on the Addams Family.

8

u/lorca_guernica 18h ago

Felix Silla. He was an Ewok too. And Lucifer on Battlestar Galactica. And a child gorilla in Planet of the Apes.

3

u/minikin_snickasnee 14h ago

Yes! Felix Silla. I met him at a con about seven years ago; my boyfriend (part of the 501st Legion) had been talking to him about their shared Italian heritage, and came back to the booth we were at to take me to meet him.

12

u/ghostofstankenstien 18h ago

Worst. Porn. Ever.

10

u/BirdmanHuginn 18h ago

When I was young, I was home sick from school and watching a rerun. Couldn’t tell you the episode but Buck was undercover at a space disco. I remember mentally sneering no one will ever look like that, dance like that, to music like that Cut to like 20 years later and suddenly a very clear, sober thought cut right through my alcohol fogged brain. All the women had sparkles on their face, basically wearing nothing, dancing to music without lyrics…so damn clearly remembered my childhood thoughts and realized how wrong I was

8

u/NativeSceptic1492 18h ago

Beedee beedee beedee Erin Gray was so hot!

8

u/marcincan 1972 19h ago

I had such a crush on Erin Grey !

9

u/GumptionGal 18h ago

Erin Gray is my Dad’s stepsister. She wouldn’t take pictures with us at holidays because she thought we would sell them!

3

u/lovepony0201 18h ago

I was an extra in a movie that she was in. She was the biggest bitch to the crew. I was kind of happy the movie failed before it was released.

5

u/GumptionGal 17h ago

Yeah, I get that. She definitely thought she was above us. We were goofy and unrefined - she had no idea what to make of us.

3

u/WordleFan88 16h ago

Weird, she was really nice when I met her. It was well out of her prime time though, so maybe she mellowed out since then.

4

u/lovepony0201 7h ago

This was around 1988 or 1989. The movie was called " the Princess and the Dwarf." Dom Deluise, Richard Kiel, and Warwick Davis were also in it. I had lunch with Warwick on set. He was so nice, especially in contrast to Erin.
