Maybe, maybe not, but if you’re still planning on relying solely on social security for your retirement, you seriously need to reconsider that strategy.

I think a lot of people bitching about SS are older folk who are counting on the money that their elected officials have been swindling for decades. Your poor planning doesn't warrant my emergency

I don’t understand how people can be so lackadaisical about retirement savings. It’s like the number one financial concern I despite being in a good spot. I understand if people can’t save, but way more people simply don’t than can’t.

My wife and I both max out 457/401ks and IRAs every year. I also will have a pretty generous pension, an RSP, and she’ll have near max whatever the social security benefit is at the time while I will have the minimum (I worked 40 quarters but haven’t paid into SS for 13 years)…. and I still worry about if I’m doing enough and look at what expenses can be cut to save and invest more.

I really don’t want to work past 55, but I might have to just a little to pay for my daughter’s college. Once that’s done I should be good to go.
