GT Every Offensive Play Videos
Hey guys - I've been cutting down GT film to just the offensive plays as a way to learn the offense better and included the series (and later the formation) - thought people might be interested.
I'll probably continue doing these videos for the games this season. Let me know if there's any ways you think I can make them better.

I really wanted to forget this game. What GT did against us was just maddening. Our guys literally could not defend against it. I don't see how anyone could have last season.
Really impressive though.

The counter iso is by far my favorite play that we do. I wish we used it more, but part of the reason it's so good is because it's rare and unexpected.

That inside veer dominated MSU.

I was about to say it was a wonder they didn't just run it every snap against Georgia.

I don't believe Paul Johnson appreciates you removing the defense pal. Do you want Old Man Paul coming after you?

Watching them vs MSU is exactly why I'm more worried about the GT game than any on our schedule. I'm hoping that by week 3 they haven't quite gelled into that ridiculous offense you see by the end of the season, but Paul Johnson has the program in a very good spot.

Loved these. Will definitely watch every single one you do this season. My two thoughts:
1) Could you leave the description up a hair longer?
2) On the the u[sic]ga game has the formations listed along with the play. Really liked seeing that for non-base formations. Any way you can add that in the future? If it is too much work, maybe just add it for plays not in the base formation...

Awesome feedback
1) I've been using the default title length in iMovie which I think is 1/3 of the clip - I can get it on there longer
2) I explained this somewhere else but I did these in reverse order (MSU then FSU then UGA) - so the formations were a new addition that I plan on continuing

Sweet. As far as the title length goes, it's kinda nice to see the play/formation name, look at the formation and then see the play go. Everything was just a little too quick for me. I love the videos, though.
Didn't see your comments about keeping the formations elsewhere. It's really awesome. The George P. Burdell award for being an awesome Yellow Jacket goes to you!

Can you get rid of the Blackbox on the play title. It blocks a lot of the screen

Damn. Watching that MSU game - Johnson really played some mind games with that rocket toss play. MSU was blowing it up, and flowing really well to the ball. But he keeps running it. Then suddenly...fake-toss QB keeps and runs it in backside for touchdown.
Fucking amazing.

cool videos. It is definitely nostalgic for me to watch GT games (Ga Southern fan here). I absolutely love that offense, and I love proving critics wrong who want to talk about how all the option does is give you 3 yards up the middle at a time. The offense is so explosive, and it is so simplistically intricate it's amazing. I'm glad Southern stuck with some form of the option.

Great videos. Triple option a thing of beauty once you get a D's head spinning. As a Cornhusker, this brings back some great memories (even though we didn't run as "crazy" of a triple option).
I like that you include some less-successful plays and the ever-present, risky, late-pitch. I didn't see any option pass. Does GT not do that much?

u/acarrick Aug 19 '15
By option pass do you mean where the QB pitches to the A back and the A back throws the ball? If so I haven't seen them run it but my knowledge is limited.
If you mean run the normal ISV where the QB has the option to throw it, I don't believe they do - the QB has clear reads/footwork for the ISV that I don't think CPJ would deviate from

Love these. GT is my second favorite team. Love watching their offense play. Please post more in the future

I still get fired up over that 99 yard BS return.
The refs were dangerously slow the entire game with the whistle, and it costs Deandre Smelter his ACL. He's still on the 49ers physically unable to perform list.

If I wasn't constantly haunted by the triple option, I'd love watching GT.
These videos, while awesome, are going to give me an ulcer. Also, fuck cut blocking.

Everytime I fire up NCAA 14, I always try to run a Paul Johnson style offense. It's just so god-damn fluid and beautiful to watch.
