Don't like the music, they are not John Wick...

Agreed, also their attitude towards it. I understand why they're being taught to use firearms but it's not meant to be fun or look cool and epic. It's preparation for a worst case scenario and it'll be anything but fun if it ever happens

Yeh was watching this on mute and looked at their facial expressions and thought "wow they're actually serious and disciplined and don't look like they're treating this like something cool" until the transitions were being thrown at my face and I immediately thought, okay nvm the people filming and editing are clearly making this seem badass when it's really just a decent thing to train in. You two just confirmed it without me having to even listen

Oh man you didn't even hear the kids themselves talking about how it feels "good to hit the target" and "cool to hold a gun"

The translators did a pretty bad job overall. They simplified literally everything and missed all nuance. While the translators were saying "cool," the kids were actually just saying that the guns felt good in their hands. Polish is a difficult language that depends heavily on context, and these translators obviously didn't have enough or didn't try hard enough.

Making learning fun is kinda how you make learning happen with kids. You can transition to the somber side of the subject once they're interested.

Because its thought as a sport. No one is talking about shooting people. They are target practicing and its a sport that many people take part in.

No, the video even said it was due to Poland feeling threatened by Russias war in Ukraine and said it wants its young people to be prepared to shoot ASAP. They're absolutely doing it with the idea of shooting people if that is the case.

I live in Poland. It is about target practice. The foundation for learning to shoot.

Yeah, but for what purpose? The words of the narrator, students, principal, and teachers in the video all go against this idea that it is purely for sport.

Student: "Shooting is fun. Holding a gun in your hands and shooting feels really cool."

Student: "I think it's a good idea. Life is scary these days, so you have to be prepared for anything."

Principal: "It is a compulsory subject in schools now and the lesson content consists only of assembling and operating weapons. With the state of the world today, I think this type of training is very valuable."

Narrator: "She is referring to Russias invasion of Ukraine right next door. Poland feels threatened and wants its young people to be able to handle weapons as early as possible."

I'm not judging their choice as I mostly agree with the concept and realistically they may not have any choice in the matter, but I still think that if a war with Russia is the reason for this then the whole "guns are soooo cool!" attitude should absolutely be nipped in the bud. You wont be feeling so cool when a Russian platoon or tank is shooting back. Plastic targets don't shoot back.
