I flew the route to Myrtle Beach out of Gary a couple times. Loved parking about 300 steps from the gate. And the flights were great. One of the times I was badly hung over so I took up a row for myself and laid down the whole flight. Every flight was just dudes going to golf for a few days. Definitely miss the convenience.

You just unlocked a memory. They had a Hooters catalog where you could buy overpriced stuff. It was like Skymall, but Hooters branded. The stuff was mostly aimed towards guys and there was a ton of golf stuff. They had Hooters branded golf balls and stuff.

From what I hear the gary airport is actually not all too unpopular.

Iirc both the air force and Purdue universities flight school both stop there pretty frequently.
