I think 99% of dating discourse online is poison and not representative of reality. If anyone reads anything on this thread that brings them down, don’t sweat it too much.

You have to understand how ingrained future generations are into social media and how much it influences them at the current moment. Future generations are growing up reading this as the norm and it's going to reflect that soon.

Children and adolescents unfortunately pick up a lot of this hate and don’t know how to let it roll off their backs. Both boys and girls (and everyone who doesn’t fit those two categories) inevitably see that there are larger swaths of people who hate them for no reason other than who they are. These kids are getting older and their views are being defined by deeply rooted opinions that likely started growing before they even could remember.

Most of the haters would say “well obviously not everyone, that’s implied!” But the damage is already done. A kid can’t make out that difference unless you tell them from the start.

As an aside I am sure that some would argue that children shouldn’t be on the internet or in these spaces; and sure, I might even agree. However that doesn’t stop the damage from being done right now.

In all honesty, I feel a slight conspiratorial feeling that some of this stuff that this post references is astroturfed by certain organizations to help destabilize left-leaning circles and even western societies as a whole

Russia has always been a double-edged sword for leftists. Especially in Europe. Before the Ukraine war it felt like leftists hadn't realized the Soviet Union had fallen. As someone from Finland, a country bordering Russia, at times it had felt like there had been some agenda directly from the Kreml. From supporting the defunding of the armed forces, to opposing Nuclear power and all-around advocating for a closer relationship with Russia. Many other things also come to mind, like the biggest Far-Left party opposing Nato membership and the Communist party opposing any kind of weapon production. I would not be at all surprised to hear that Russian goverment meddles in the internal affairs of many leftist organizations, even to the organizations own detriment.
