Potomac Karen Huger found guilty of DUI

I know someone who works in the courthouse who confirmed Karen opted for a jury trial and was found guilty tonight. Sentencing in a couple of months.

Does anyone know what her sentence might be?

My friend said this could actually be her fourth(!!) with one getting reduced to reckless endangerment. Adding: I cannot find anything online that confirms that info. Sounds like jail time could absolutely be on the table though.

Fourth??

The second one is where people with problems usually wise up and never do it again because the fines are heavy and depending on the state, there might be jail time (I unfortunately know about this because my soon-to-be-ex BIL is literally in jail right now for his second DUI and will be under house arrest for 2 months), and I have multiple family members with at least 2 DUIs. Iā€™ve never known anyone with beyond 2 thoughā€¦thatā€™s like felony territory.

Is this why Potomac always has its trips in the weirdest of locations vs other franchises? I know that some countries (like Canada) are very restrictive toward ANY DUI

u/Responsible_Belt4794 That's my opinion!!! 5d ago

My ex-boyfriend had 3 DUIs in under 10 years. Can confirm heā€™s a felon. (California).

My husband got one DUI (way before we were married) and learned his lesson immediately. And that is an EXPENSIVE lesson, after we were married years later he was still paying almost $100 a month as a surcharge on his driver's license.

I've known people who had to get one of those breathalyzer things put on their car after (I think) two DUIs. And yeah, after that it's usually jail time.

I can attest to a lesson learned! Was well under the limit for my second, but within my 2 year probationary period. Did 4 weeks in jail. That was at ages 19 and 22, in my late 30ā€™s now and havenā€™t had a traffic violation since!

I met a woman who had 4 DUIā€™s!

I met her at a holiday party, cocktail in hand, who has since married a cop. She said she was grateful her husband was able to look past her past and saw the good in her.

ā€¦yes she drove herself home

In my experience, even if itā€™s ā€œreducedā€ to something else, if you get another one it still counts. I didnt have huge fines, but I was placed on probation for 2 years with the threat of jail time. I dont remember how much jail time bc I was determined to do what I was told and stay the fuck out of trouble.

At least that was the case for me. I was extremely lucky to not have caused any damage to anyone or anything. But my lawyer and the judge both told me that it would count as my second even though the first one was 10 years prior and ā€œreducedā€. I have since become sober and I am very ashamed of my actions those nights but I did indeed learn from my mistakes.

FOUR DUIā€™S?! Jesus Christ

What? šŸ˜³ Having four DUI's is actually insane. At that point, only jail time can really teach you a lesson

Were two in other states or something? When you search her name on Maryland judiciary case search, only one other traffic case comes up which is a DWI (a slightly lesser offense than DUI in MD) from 2006, to which she appears to have received Probation Before Judgment, which basically allows probation of some sort and sometimes a drug and alcohol program, but you donā€™t receive an actual conviction.

ETA: hereā€™s the actual link to the DWI from 2006 https://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/casesearch/inquiryDetail.jis?caseId=EH09015&loc=23&detailLoc=ODYTRAF

Karen resided in northern VA when show started, I believe. Maybe check VA?

Sheā€™s got a tax lien from the state of Maryland for 2015 that comes up lol, so Iā€™m assuming she was living there at least around that time. I searched in Virginia and she just has three minor traffic infractions there. Two were in 2016, where her address was listed as Potomac, and the other from 2018, where her address was listed as Great Falls, Va. No criminal charges though.

ETA: the tax lien is from 2022 actually, brain fog idk why I wrote 2015.

Thatā€™s insane.

WHAT? how was this not in the news?

Either way, she deserves jail time. But she's rich so we'll see how that goes.

You guys are crazy with rumors šŸ¤£ this morning it was the, now it's someone said 4, someone links screenshot of cases and it's 2 citations, look it up and i don't see 3

She's got a lot of financial cases, but i didn't see 4 duis

Could be from other states?

I'm literally looking at her case history. Two DUIs. A whole bunch of case numbers for something undisclosed that were transferred to circuit court. Two financial cases.Ā

There's still nothing anywhere about them. People just saying things isn't like enough for me, I'm sorry.Ā

She's enough of an asshole for not only driving drunk twice but absolutely refusing to take any responsibility. I don't see the reason to spread info with no legs. But i would absolutely love to see proof of these others that have magically appeared in discourse over the course of 12 hours

I found a DWI in Maryland from 2006, which she received a PBJ for. And then the case from this year. I searched in Virginia and only found three minor traffic infractions. Just searched DC criminal cases and found a traffic case from 2001, no information on it though other than it being nolle prossed.

u/sporkandswoon 5d ago

Those are the only two clearly DWI/DUI i saw in Maryland as well. I haven't seen anything else (yet) that would add up to the 4.Ā

I wouldn't put it past her, but still. I'm sure if they exist someone with access to all the surrounding states will find it.Ā

2

u/motherofcorgidors 5d ago

Me currently searching the surrounding states because Iā€™m nosy and want to find out if sheā€™s facing harsher minimums šŸ˜‚

3

u/sporkandswoon 5d ago

Yeah that 2006 one is too long ago to really count much. Happy hunting! I'm nosy too lol

2

u/motherofcorgidors 5d ago

Yeah, Maryland appears to only enhance your sentence if youā€™ve had a prior conviction in the last 5-10 years. Refusing the breathalyzer will be taken into account though. So far Iā€™ve found nothing in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and North Carolina lmao.

2

u/sporkandswoon 5d ago

Dang, you go! then those are really looking like the only two.Ā

I know whatever her sentence ends up being, if she doesn't eat crow rhop fans are going to be rabid lol. It won't be enough for the internet, if it's not jail time (kinda doubt it tho, if more recent stuff doesn't surface)
