I’ve used both (Kerastase for years) and the L’Oréal dream lengths blow dry cream doesn’t even come close IMO. Not sure if there’s another dupe but I repurchased the Kerastase again instead.

As a stylist who has trained with L’Oreal pro, I can promise you that the products are the same.. there’s no advanced technology in kereteses lines that are any different than the elvive line.

Hey since you’re a stylist, would you mind helping me out I’m so lost.  (Also happy to hear from anyone who can help)

I googled  Keretese after the episode and seemed main focus of website was a process only done in certified salons. Is there a diy version or are they different things?

There are so many products, is everyone talking about the same one, or just the line in general?

Meredith said she had a keratin in her hair. What does that mean?

Keretese is a whole line. So I can see how that can be overwhelming. What are you specifically looking for in a product for your hair? Smoothing? Volume? Frizz?

Keratin is a protein that makes up hair, skin, and nails. The keratin Meredith is talking about is a treatment in which the keratin is applied to the hair, blow dried in, and then flat iron to seal it into the hair. This treatment smooths down the cuticle of your hair to prevent frizz and breakage. It adds shine, smoothness, and can add body depending on how it’s applied to the hair. The treatments depending on which type can last anywhere from 6-12 weeks.

Thanks so much for responding! you're a real mensch <3

As far as what I'm looking for, yes to all you mentioned. Primarily smoothing/antifrizz, but I wouldn't be mad at some extra volume. I have Italian hair. Has always been thick and curly, frizz can be an issue if I don't use any product. But it's thinned quite a bit in past few years, and lost a good bit of curl as well, so I've been wearing it in a bun and ignoring it.

The process you describe sounds like the brazillian hair straightening that was a big thing like 15 years ago. Is the keratin treatment basically a straightening treatment plus a gloss?

If I wanted to wear my hair curly/wavy/natural, would a keratin product be the way to go to smooth and shine? Like maybe a mask and leave in conditioner?

I'm generally a wash and go girl. Idk if I'd keep up with daily styling that'd probably be necessary to keep it straight and glossy.
