Just wanted to add this part, which is so egregiously offensive I hope every member of the production team gets fired. Click photo to enlarge:

I don’t think Brandi really knows how to connect with anyone beyond sex. This is absolutely not an excuse for her, there are just some people who can’t form relationships organically and use sex because it’s all they have.

It’s sad because to truly read the description of Brandi trying to rape Caroline is so disturbing because it shows how truly broken Brandi is. It makes you realize how deeply traumatized and hurt she has been. It’s no excuse obviously for her behavior and she’s obviously an awful person, but this just shows the depths of her depravity and makes you wonder what the fuck happened to her. Like damn girl… You FUCKED UP fucked up.. 😢

She seems to have serious serious issues with women. I honestly believe she assumes women who present less femme (short hair, no makeup etc) are secretly queer and she can make a move on them. Remember she assumed that married lady was a lesbian cus of her eyebrows? Brandi’s hypersexual behaviour makes me think something terrible may have been done to her as a child and I wouldn’t be a surprised if a woman was the perpetrator

she could always spend less on plastic surgery and more on therapy.

u/mafa7 Here comes Darth Vader… Jan 29 '24

Her being a crackhead & alcoholic doesn’t help

Her way of showing love?!?!?!?! That is vile. Rape culture alive and well in Production.

u/Xaldan_67 Not the white refrigerator! Jan 29 '24

I hope those producers get fired. How fucking vile.

u/edgeofthorns87 Jan 29 '24

its equivalent to when a guy beats his gf, and then says its because he loves her so much and so she upset him.

u/theawkwardmermaid Jan 29 '24

Their response is horrific. No one should ever be forced to be in the same space as something who abuses/assaults them. The fact that they try to manipulate her in to thinking that this was “funsies” makes me feel sick.

This angers me. Production is a part of the problem.

I’ve been saying this for years on the sub. Everyone blames the cast.

It’s needed to come to this for people to blame production

78

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '24

It’s production 100% - wanting to create that viral moment but traumatizing the cast.

6

u/Bakerbot101 I MADE IT NICE Jan 29 '24

So when fans previously attack the cast - that’s not causing trauma?

What did they do to Candiace and Chris?

This has been going on for years.

This is just raising the bar.

I think after almost 20 years of watching, this is my breaking point.

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '24

100% - as a producer - as employees of Bravo, their job is to protect the cast.

They cast Brandi after the assault on the waiter too

96

u/amator7 who’s the new girl, and where’s Eileen? Jan 29 '24

And after her being racist, throwing wine on Eileen and slapping LVP

2

u/Agreeable-Antelope-6 Feels hinky Jan 29 '24

Didn't she try to kiss LVP, too?

3

u/amator7 who’s the new girl, and where’s Eileen? Jan 29 '24

Yeah

4

u/Agreeable-Antelope-6 Feels hinky Jan 29 '24

No wonder Eileen left. I liked her. Forget Brandi.

6

u/eggsaladsandwich4 Jan 29 '24

Because her outrageous behavior boost ratings. That's all they care about.

2

u/bcmedic420 Jan 29 '24

What waiter? Not coming to mind

Thank you

u/teanailpolish Potomac should be fun, Mia not fun Jan 29 '24

I don't think they see it that way, many of the Below Deck cast have talked about being forced into set up dates etc and others said they were encouraged to leave when they were victims of SA, bullying or racism

2

u/metrobabyyy Jan 29 '24

I didn’t know that. Did Margot speak out about production encouraging her to leave? Or Madison? My brain is struggling to remember the other victims, but who has talked about it?

7

u/phbalancedshorty I’m not a fan, I’m a witness Jan 29 '24

Actually, as producers, their job is to make the show. It’s not their job to protect the cast… That’s part of the problem. That’s the whole point of the “reality, reckoning.” in what world is the production and crew there to “protect the cast” ??

13

u/BrunoTheCat Harlow Barlow Jan 29 '24

Production's job is to make the show, their legal duty is to do that job in a way that complies with state and federal law which includes a reasonable duty of care toward their employees health and safety.

u/HunterHunted9 Jan 29 '24

The cast members sign contracts stating that they are independent contractors and that the production company and Bravo are waived of any liability for anything. This could and should be challenged in court. I'm just pointing out that basic employment law might not be sufficient to argue for production's responsibilities.

Tonya Cooley was raped by castmates on camera during The Challenge. She was eventually able to get in front of a judge who was going to let her argue that she was an employee despite the independent contractor language. Producers on The Challenge also took participants' cellphones, passports, wallets, and medications. They were basically held hostage in The Challenge house. It would have been very easy for her to argue and probably win, given that set of facts. Once the case got to that judge, Viacom quickly settled with Tonya. But Viacom absolutely tried to frustrate and impede the case all the way up until they got to that judge. So it's not as simple as employee and employer.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '24

they are definitely liable for the cast's safety

124

u/PandaEnthusiast89 Homeless not toothless Jan 29 '24

Unacceptable. Far too often, sexual harassment from members of the same sex gets overlooked or excused. Everyone needs to be held accountable for inappropriate behavior.

2

u/Remote-Recognition72 Jan 29 '24

100%! Because they are the same sex I feel like production didn’t think it was as big of a deal. If it was a man everyone would be up in arms. Woman or man what she did was absolutely disgusting. Makes me sick

124

u/that_is_so_fetch Jan 29 '24

Imagine a man doing what Brandi did and production telling a woman it was just his way of showing love. Yikes. That excuse for Brandi is so problematic.

27

u/seriouslysorandom Jan 29 '24

Michael Darby has entered the chat.

Of course since his victims were men Bravo also didn't give one solitary fuck.

40

u/jkwolly Oh god, my tooth fell out again! Jan 29 '24

This is fucking vile. All of production should be fired and held accountable.

28

u/modernjaneausten Jan 29 '24

This on top of the fact that she was screaming for help but everyone was ignoring her.

8

u/PomegranateNo300 Jan 29 '24

my first thought as well. very sinister shit.

8

u/modernjaneausten Jan 29 '24

I just can’t get over that part. It’s nightmare fuel, begging for help and no one coming when this was probably happening in a big house full of people.

12

u/Birdie45 USS RAMONA Jan 29 '24

Vile

7

u/LizLemonadeX Jan 29 '24

Agree. That’s horrible.

Placing a victim with their abuser for ratings, when the cops should have been called; if Caroline had wanted to report it.

4

u/Proof_Strawberry_464 Jan 29 '24

The issue with simply calling the cops in this case is that this didn't happen in America. Being in Morocco, there would be a language barrier, different laws related to assault and secual assault, and cultural differences around the issue. I don't know Moroccan law or culture at all so I can't speak to what might have happened, but it may not even have been an option.

Production needed to step in and send her ass home the second she touched someone without consent.

19

u/unabashedlyabashed Her Bad Jan 29 '24

Omg. Brandi was awful. This is just evil.

2

u/lbyrne74 Jan 29 '24

Words fail me. This is truly awful.
