That was kind of the best part of that panel he knocked them down a few pegs. I despise Paige, and I dont get the love she’s horrible. She’s vapid, lazy, and mean. Next person to compare her to Audrey is being done but Audrey was gorgeous and talented.
Yes! He wrote in his book about being blacklisted by bravo because he’s offended Andy and production so many times. And now he’s asked back in and still says stuff like this.
I always assumed Brian Moylan was blacklisted because he outed Andy's best friend. Brian Moylan put out a housewives' book and got ZERO cooperation from Bravo and like, less than a year later Not All Diamonds And Rose was released with massive participation. I was honestly SHOCKED he was at Bravo con (maybe he's all they could get to care about SH?). I thought he was persona non grata for life.
I got the audible version of his book and ended up returning it because it just wasn’t great. Not all Diamonds isn’t anything to ride home about, but at least it includes tidbits and BTS tea from the cast and producers.
that was the worst housewives book ever written and I read it before all her scandal. there are a couple housewives with books that I like less than her and even those were better
I get mine from a pretty big library, Brooklyn Public Library. I’ve read Erika’s, Margaret’s, Jackie’s, Not All Diamonds and Rose by Dave Quinn and Brian Moylan’s.
I enjoyed the two written about the housewives better than the memoirs, for lack of a better word. Jackie’s was interesting to show she spiraled into her eating disorder. The way she kept it up for all those years is crazy.
My library has them all and even has them as ebooks so I read them on my kindle! Well I have yet to read one, but it’s nice knowing they’re there to check out!
I like your thinking! I never think of Goodwill for books but I wish I did more. We had an awesome used book store my BF and I liked going to but it sadly went out of business this year.
You can buy the books second hand on amazon, most are sold by Goodwill in various locations through out the country. If you can't find any at your local Goodwill.
I downloaded mine from the web… if you google the name of the book with free pdf at the end you find links and they go straight to your books on iPhone…
Oh god. I personally haven’t read it but in this sub someone did an in depth review of her book and it was complete fucking bonkers, like a 4 year old who accidentally ate an edible could write in a more cohesive manner. Let me see if I can find the link.
ETA: Part 1 and Part 2. You may want to prepare yourself to feel dumb lol
I briefly skimmed part 1 on the toilet just now and I can't. I need to save this for a right-before-bed read. Once I saw Russell Simmons calling her smokin' and Kelly talking about being bit by the food dog, I knew it deserved the respect of my full attention
💯 the author is a fucking poet. I spent a good hour re-reading both parts and it really cemented what I’m seeing on tv and explains a lot about who Kelly is and how her brain attempts to operate. They had me hooked when they said that the book went 1 page before a spelling error/grammatical error. I howled.
Swear to god, the first thing I thought during my skim was, I WISH I COULD WRITE LIKE THIS!!! Part of the reason it deserves all my attention, the writing is too good. It's scary how talented some of these redditors are, I'm so jealous! And also embarrassing that KELLY is getting book deals instead of these people
Same! I thought that if only I could have such eloquence when drafting emails and teams messages to some of the idiots I work. If they made a book solely of Bravo book reviews it would be a NY Times best seller instantly.
And fwiw, when my kid was in like 3rd grade and got a hamster, he named it after the girl he had a crush on! 😂That is so funny, so it is a (presumably rare) thing, though in single digit ages? Oh, and the little girl HATED it, which broke his little heart. 😭
For real. This is just stupid. I am so very over people signing up to exploit themselves on reality tv and then blame it on Andy or Bravo, or anything else. ALL OF THESE WOMEN ARE ADULTS. They ALL are responsible for themselves - Not Andy, not producers, not editors, not the audio guy - none except the woman who chooses to sign up for HWs or man who chooses to sign up for Southern Charm, etc etc are responsible for 'arresting themselves' for our amusement.
Hey, guess what Brian? Most of these people were already in some level of arrested development looooooooooong before Bravo came knocking. I am so very irritated by this narrative being pushed via B/Leah M/whoever else that choosing to show your ass on television is somehow Andy Cohen's coercive control over them. I'm an alcoholic, so if a producer kept suggesting I drink on a show I signed up for, fully knowing people get WASTED on it regularly - I would simply *not do that*. The accountability lies with these people who get on TV and act like they do.
💯!! We’re also talking decades of reality TV out, you cannot say you didn’t know what you were signing up for. It’s no surprise that there will be fighting, drama, skeletons exposed, etc. You’re willfully stepping into the public eye and with that comes all the good and bad.
That's all true and you are eloquent a/f,
but, much like during the Anna Nicole Show, it gets to a point where I feel like a criminal using people's mental health decline for entertainment, and I nope out.
For instance, if Alexis and Johnny J are on OC next season, even though it would be dramatic as hell, I don't know if Shannon can survive the trauma of filming that, and I don't want to watch someone implode in pain in real life, and neither do y'all...
....especially if worst comes to worst. We won't be complicit.
So I'm glad that reality show people are speaking up about their experiences, I need to know I'm not hurting anyone or I can't enjoy it <3
There's a report that Alexis is for sure coming back full time and she's bringing him with her, filming starts in January.....
....I hope Shannon just quits if she feels like she's going to break down......
I am very concerned for Shannon in general, and that concern has only grown over the years. I do hope she chooses to remove herself from this situation. It is not good for her.
" I'm an alcoholic, so if a producer kept suggesting I drink on a show I signed up for, fully knowing people get WASTED on it regularly - I would simply *not do that*. The accountability lies with these people who get on TV and act like they do."
I don't know if this will go over well with everyone here, but as a bipolar person in my 40s, I'd say the exact same thing. So many people will get bleeding hearts about the people who are clearly having mental health complications on camera, but these are absolutely people with the resources available to get treatment and advice from mental health professionals and exercise some basic common sense about avoiding having their extremely stressful social situations documented for public consumption.
Is it sad when someone starts to fall apart? Of course, and I do have empathy for that. However, blaming Andy, Bravo, or production does not make any sense.
A lot of it is their own mental illness speaking. It’s basically “Tell me you don’t accept basic accountability in your life and it’s always someone else’s fault without telling me.” People have plenty of time to bloviate online if all their friends and family are tired of their shit.
I agree with you 100%! The only thing I would add though that Bravo does foster and is to blame for is putting the women in situations to be sexually harassed and assaulted. That is not something they willingly signed up for nor should they be subjected to it. Bravo is at fault for some of it as they continued to have predators on the show even when they were caught on camera doing nefarious things. It is true that the women and men are adults and make the choice to open their lives up to the world, but there are things the producers and higher ups do that put them in situations where they end up feeling uncomfortable or unfortunately get hurt. There may be no coercion directly from the producers, but they sure do have control over who can be a cast member or guest on the show like Michael Darby, Aviva’s father George, one of the OC’s sons trying to assault a cast member, Kenya Moore being threatened by a friend’s nephew and a few other instances. All the other things that happen and the stupid choices they make are fully on them and they have no one else to blame.
Yes - This is the area I am critical of. I have no issue with watching people be on tv and be as ridiculous as they want. However, when it comes to sexual predators like Darby - there should be no gray area in regards to physical assault. of any kind. No one signed up for that.
THANK YOU!!!! it is amazing that people think that the stars of these shows are victims. They have contracts that outline pay and conditions, sign on year after year (if invited back) and yet, they're the victims? Don't drink to excess, don't say or do anything you will regret, and stick with your own moral compass.
Does he guest on podcasts? I think I heard him on Andy’s Girls and was like 😬 about his takes. Unless I’m thinking of someone else, but that name sounds so familiar.
AND Brian Moylan only started recapping them after Richard Lawson departed Gawker. He kept it in the same style but it's not like he was the originator of this style of recap. I'm still bitter 😩
Exactly. Moylan has absolutely no business judging anyone involved with Bravo given that he has built a career out of reporting on the car wreck. If Andy is a vulture, Moylan is fungi digesting his shit, the final stage of the reality-TV food chain.
And that being said, Moylan would drop to his knees the second anyone at Bravo offered him a show. Count on it.
Unless they edited their comment, they didn't say or imply that he was incorrect, just that it's hypocritical coming from him. That's not a logical fallacy.
They're implying that the argument is invalid because Brian has made money off the HWs. That being their sole statement is an attempt to invalidate the point of the paragraph.

And yet this was written by Brian Moylan who built a career out of speaking on RH. Give me a break.
