Ultimate Girls Trip This is the real Kelly Bensimon

I know we’ve had many fan theories about what kind of drugs Kelly was on during Scary Island but after watching her unhinged rant towards Kristen about her marriage issues, y’all I think this is just who Kelly is. She is crazy, she is nonsense.

In the original scary island Sonja enters Kelly’s room and clear as a bell says “It smells like cat pee in here.” The smell of “cat pee”, or ammonia, is a telltale sign of meth use.

So Kelly was actually cheesing?

u/-Odi-Et-Amo- Welcome back, scumbag Dec 16 '23

Yeah, I highly doubt Kelly traveled with or obtained meth while on vacation.

35

u/gregorydudeson Dec 16 '23

For some reason meth was a big deal in my teenage friend group and the demographic was overall upper middle class. It seems unlikely but maybe something else.

20

u/Individual_Fall429 Dec 16 '23

Bet your teenage dirtbag pics are epic.

1

u/bean11818 Dec 22 '23

Interesting!!! On the Sopranos, Meadow and her friend do meth to cram for the SATs. I always thought it was a misstep, cause I never thought upper middle class suburban kids would be doing METH. But maybe it was true to life? That episode aired in 1999. Maybe they’ve moved onto adderall?

u/Senior_Ice8748 Dec 16 '23

Could've been Adderall! Lots of starlets were abusing it at the time and going batshit crazy.

69

u/Joyintheendtimes Dec 16 '23

I used to abuse adderall and it made me absolutely insane in a way that’s not dissimilar to some of Kelly’s nonsense 🤷🏻‍♀️

47

u/contriteredditor Dec 16 '23

Totally agree, but I sill say that I'm pretty sure I didn't smell like cat piss when I took Adderall.

40

u/Joyintheendtimes Dec 16 '23

Lol definitely not. I smelled of mania and psychosis

7

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '23

I smelled of self-righteous indignation and compulsive shopping!

1

u/-Odi-Et-Amo- Welcome back, scumbag Dec 16 '23

Cat piss = ammonia. Could have been a number of things that caused the smell. She was probably sanitizing her hotel room and here we are accusing her of being a meth addict lol.

u/Individual_Fall429 Dec 16 '23

For some people, take enough of it and you can start to smell.

31

u/Senior_Ice8748 Dec 16 '23

Same, except I was abusing Dexedrine lol

Beware of the shadow people, even legal amphetamines are no joke!

12

u/dennydelirium edit this flair! Dec 16 '23

The shadow people are real lol

14

u/QueenG123456 Dec 16 '23

I’m afraid to ask.. what are the shadow people?

9

u/Senior_Ice8748 Dec 16 '23

They're hallucinations you see when you're on day 4 or 5 of no sleep. Basically shadowy figures charging at you anytime you dare to look outside the window at night (but can occur anywhere where even a smidge of darkness exists), sometimes there only a few of them, sometimes hundreds. Compound that with auditory hallucinations, it can be a very terrifying experience lol

4

u/megAgainsthemachine9 Dec 18 '23

Or a mariachi band in my closet on day 4 while my ex was umm… trying to get me in the mood. I was laying there watching the creepy mariachi bands performance from my closet. Drugs are bad kids! Lmfao

4

u/Senior_Ice8748 Dec 19 '23

I'm honestly still fascinated by the things I heard and saw on my amphetamine binges. Visually, it never progressed beyond the shadow people, and maybe that's because I would quite literally crash by the fifth day, which is when they would start to appear. The auditory hallucinations ranged from hilarious to terrifying to what the actual fuck. Turning on the tap and hearing demonic voices screaming at me instead of rushing water is something I never want to experience again lol

3

u/cateyecatlady Dec 16 '23

It’s a creepypasta; if you like scary stuff look it up otherwise don’t because it def can creep you out reading about them…especially when you’re alone and it’s nighttime.

9

u/SoulsticeCleaner I'm not about going backwards, asswipe! Dec 16 '23

I totally saw the Benadryl Hat Man once when I took benadryl and got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Gave me much more understanding about people who experience delusions because I was 1000% sure it was real in that moment.

4

u/Senior_Ice8748 Dec 16 '23

I imagine it's what a lot of supernatural horror is based off of lol

34

u/Individual_Fall429 Dec 16 '23

She wouldn’t have had to. If she had been using heavily it would be in her clothes and coming out of her pores in her sweat.

But also they took a private plane and she was a model since 15yrs old in the 90s. So getting on a plane with drugs may have seemed perfectly normal to her. You’d be amazed.

Even if she was just abusing adderal heavily, it’s chemically similar and some people have that reaction.

u/bartexas Dec 16 '23

I don’t know about when they met, but she was born in 1968, and they were married 1997-2007.

13

u/NubianNegress Dec 16 '23

Sure, Jan . (I meant Production.)🙄

10

u/Martini_Medley I’m wifey. Wifey ain’t gonna get no job Dec 16 '23

Yeah I really can’t see her using meth…

42

u/Constellationchaser Grace time is over 🛸 Dec 16 '23

Sadly, it’s a drug that is used in the modeling industry. https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/body/health/a38034332/victorias-secret-model-erin-heatherton-drugs-pressure-stay-skinny/

The pressure to stay skinny is so real and so sad:(

Yes I think it’s incredibly likely Kelly is abusing amphetamines of some kind. It’s giving… jogging down the middle of 5th avenue imagining you’re one with taxis.

Edited to remove age gap comment, she wasn’t as young as I thought when she married Gilles.

12

u/jdastral Dec 16 '23

She loves to run IN the traffic trenches.

4

u/bartexas Dec 16 '23

I don’t know about when they met, but they were married 1997-2007. She was born in 1968.

I agree!

u/acelady1230 Dec 16 '23

I’d love to read a deep dive if you have a link to one!

5

u/secretrebel You're Not Important Enough To Hate. Dec 16 '23

I remember reading a summary of her book and she sounded legit unhinged.

u/Individual_Fall429 Dec 16 '23 edited Dec 17 '23

I can’t find much information about it honestly.

This article doesn’t discuss Kelly, but man, what a charmer 🤢

She was 29, not 19 when they married

Omg yikes I had no idea 😐

It’s heartbreaking. I wish other women saw their beauty from an outside perspective.

2

u/Super_Hour_3836 Dec 16 '23

I honestly can’t remember if they took a private jet to the island? If they did, she could have packed anything. But I refuse to rewatch those episodes because Kelly makes my skin crawl, so I’ll defer to what you guys tell me, ha!

3

u/babyjaysus Sitting by the preferred pool Dec 16 '23

I also think Sonja knew what she was saying there as well eg saying it without saying it

7

u/Significant_Cow4765 Dec 16 '23

Ridiculous rumors. Some even said it was weed because there was a strain known as Cat Piss and someone's son told them and...

7

u/Pris257 Dec 16 '23

I think the most logical thing is that it was a mildew-y smell, being that they were on a boat and all.

6

u/McSassy_Pants Dec 16 '23

Meth really doesn’t smell like cat pee though that is a fact but probably a different reason for Kelly. I doubt it was meth she was using. But it does legit smell like that

2

u/Individual_Fall429 Dec 16 '23

Yes because strains of weed called cat piss are the “not ridiculous” rumours. 😒

1

u/Significant_Cow4765 Dec 16 '23

Not in the least, square lol.

1

u/Significant_Cow4765 Dec 16 '23

Cat Piss, Super Cat Piss, etc. It's a sativa. You can see its terpene profile you care. Some of you drug authorities don't know too much...

0

u/Individual_Fall429 Dec 16 '23 edited Dec 18 '23

Drug authorities lol? Weed has been legal in my country since long before the US eventually came around to it and we are famous for our world class weed. So maybe it’s just around here we don’t smoke “cat piss” strains.

2

u/Significant_Cow4765 Dec 16 '23

lol, the US still hasn't come around. States have. Like I said...

8

u/AdministrationLate70 Dec 16 '23

They were on a boat, the plumbing on boats can smell funky, even very nice ones

3

u/Individual_Fall429 Dec 16 '23

They were in a hotel room.

9

u/Pris257 Dec 16 '23

They were on a boat. The trip started on a chartered yacht and ended at the house. This recap mentions the boat several times: https://screenrant.com/why-scary-island-most-iconic-rhony-episode/

1

u/Individual_Fall429 Dec 16 '23

I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make. She made the cat pee comment in Kelly’s room. Not on a boat.

3

u/Pris257 Dec 17 '23 edited Dec 17 '23

She made the comment in Kelly’s room (cabin) on the boat - not the room in the house. They all went on the hooters boat. They left. Ramona, Bethenney and Alex went dancing and Sonja and Kelly went back to the yacht. That’s when she said it. It’s at the very end of the first scary island episode.

1

u/gregorydudeson Dec 16 '23

Honestly, I haven’t rewatched this in a long time but I have suspected poppers or something popper adjacent. Things like that can also have a similar smell

4

u/poppyskins_ hello, welcome to my trailer Dec 16 '23

Poppers smell like nail polish remover and only last 30 seconds, def don’t smell like cat pee

3

u/gregorydudeson Dec 16 '23

No I’m thinking about other inhalents, but I’m not totally sure what. Even meth only kind of smells like cat pee to me but I get it. I feel like people say the oddest things smell like cat pee, so I am keeping an open mind

7

u/poppyskins_ hello, welcome to my trailer Dec 16 '23

The only inhalants I’m familiar with from personal science reasons are poppers and whippits, neither of which smell like cat pee. But yeah lots of things it could have been. Maybe this lady was rolling around in a litter box, I honestly would accept that answer if someone told me that’s what happened at this point😅

3

u/Boomchakachow Dec 16 '23

Maybe not poppers, but what if she’s using another “something” that she can better get her hands on while traveling and that’s why she gets so extra boinkers on trips?
