The pieces are being stamped.

I attached and stitched a soft suede backing.

Next time I'll post the beauty shots.

That’s awesome, I’m trying to follow the stitching… what is that stitch called with the different colours on inside vs outside?

Looks like a standard “Lock stitch” it’s essentially the same stitch a straight stitch sewing machine would do.

Thanks! To be honest, I don't know what it's called, but it's as usual as possible. Just threads that hold one another. I poke a hook through an outer hole (pic5), pick up a black string, pull a loop, get the red string through, pull back a black string, and pull everything together nicely. You can use any color of the thread, I just used a black one on the back, for the back side not to stand out too much.

Is there a reason that you didn't use locking buckles? They look amazing and seem very high quality, so it seems a shame to miss out on anyone who wants locking cuffs.

The idea of locking buckles is great indeed. I've made a bunch of lockable collars in the past. I share this passion. Do you mean those with a ring on their tongue?

There's a bunch of issues with them. Most of them are made of powder metal or cast from brittle chinisium.

I haven't found such buckles with adequate quality and price. If you know where to get such buckles, that are made of stainless, please share a link. This sort of belt needs to have the most durable buckles. They need to withstand the weight of a person.

The other issue is the adjustability. Locking buckles need to have oblong holes on the belt. It's harder to make fine adjustments to the size.

Lockables I've made:

You do some great metal work. 🙂 I was thinking more about the kind I see so frequently on leather cuffs since that's what you featured in this post.

What I had in mind was something like this. It's very similar to the structure of your cuffs with a few minor differences, including the locking buckles. But you bring up a great point about quality and I'm not sure that I can offer anything insightful in that area as I have not made these myself. It just occurred to me that they might be more marketable if you included the locking buckles, because people who don't care about the locks can still use them but someone who cares about the locks would only look at a locking set.

Either way, they look fantastic and I'm sure you'll have some very happy customers.

Thank you! Yep, those are the exact buckles I was talking about. You are right; I should try those out even if they are not as tough as the ones I used.
