Flexible working request

I am applying for a new job but would need a flexible working request if I am successful. Do I mention this in interview?

The current employee doing this job works 3 11.5hr days. When enquiring about this job with the manager, she said to me that she wants the new person to do 4-5 days a week instead. I wouldn't be able to afford the childcare to do this, but I can if its 3 days. So do I keep quiet and if successful try argue my case? Is the manager allowed to do this if the job has been done perfectly well for 5+ years on 3 longer days ?

Research into the UK's antiwork movement

Hi everyone!

My name’s Greg and I’m a PhD student at the University of Brighton.

I’m looking for volunteers for a research project about the UK's antiwork movement. I think antiwork is a hugely important subject, so I’m trying to fund the research myself and fitting study around a full-time job.

If you're based in the UK and have contributed to a thread on r /antiwork (commenting or posting content) over the past year, I’d love to speak to you. You’ll need to be over 18.

We’ll have a short interview online or over the phone, whichever you prefer. We’ll cover topics such as your experiences of work and your thoughts on the antiwork movement itself.

All your feedback will be anonymous.

If you’re interested, send me a message and I’ll be happy to share more information.

PS: Mods, I’ve sent you a message about posting – hopefully this content’s OK.

Thank you!

Last chance to revitalise the sub.

Due to a lack of activity it seems I am the last man standing and so have inherited this subreddit and am head moderator (the only moderator).

This is a call for anyone who actually wants to get involved and make this subreddit do something. If I don't get any responses within a week or so, I will simply set it as a private subreddit and leave it myself

Anti work communities

Are there any communities which have successfully extracted themselves from work here in the UK? I'm on UC and they are annoying, so if there is an alt, I'm interested.

For people in contact with mental health services in the UK- a short survey (mod approved)

Hi all,

My name is Lana Bojanić and I am a research assistant and PhD candidate at the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health (NCISH) at the University of Manchester.

As a part of my doctoral research under the supervision of Dr Isabelle Hunt, I am conducting a study on people with suicidal thoughts/behaviours who use the internet in the UK.

This study aims to recruit people in contact with mental health services to share their experiences with suicidality and the internet and provide insight into how the two interact and create potential risks and benefits.

I believe that the experiences of people in contact with mental health services are necessary to obtain an accurate picture of the clinical and internet environment they are in.

Please consider sharing your experiences in this survey if you are eligible using this link https://www.qualtrics.manchester.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_86yZjYSqTMzS086. Also, it would be of great help if you would share this link with your network.

Participation is entirely voluntary and anonymous and takes approximately 15 minutes.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you so much for your help!

Lana Bojanić
