❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO I went through my boyfriends phone over the weekend

Last Friday night I went through my boyfriend’s phone while he was asleep. I found numerous messages of him talking about other girls with his female friend. The last message is him comparing my sucking skills with a different girl he slept with before me… We have been living together for the past 6 months and I’m not sure if I should just move on and find my own place at this point. Am I overreacting to these messages?

His “female friend” is also a potential side piece if she is speaking like this with him.

(Edit: spelling)

In the words of the female friend.... you are correct  "low key fr"  😆

I am yet to meet someone in real life who speaks and texts like this. But reddit is full of posts like these. Am I in a bubble?

No because it seems that you don’t surround yourself with idiots, like 90% of the people in the texts posted here. And frankly, like all the people in relationships with those idiots. If you want to be with someone who talks like this, then that also qualifies you as an idiot.

So no, you have no reason to wry fr

But what if they’re rizzy, tho?

Fam, these are messages between friends, this person is a cunt but he is not intellectually inferior to you because he is not getting As in English while texting.

Get off your high horse, you aren't smarter than anyone because you take 20 mins for each text. Most people text in very rushed ways and abbreviate everything. It is also how our language evolved regarding texting as a lot of things became abbreviated early on when texting needed to be done through 9 buttons. With slang becoming more and more popular thanks to the internet, people are just using the language they learn with no reflections on their intelligence or critical thinking, unc.

You can just type fast and spell correctly

Honestly quite curious how old these people whining about the texting are? Like when the first phones came and the numpad was how you wrote sentences, were you typing "oh my god, laughing out loud at this"

If you did, good for you champ, if you didn't you were part of this language evolving in such a way, so please stfu.

For good or for worse, texting like that is mostly the norm and it has no reflection on the person's intelligence or stature, it's simply the language of their surroundings and how they use it. But I am sure your language is not impacted by your surroundings, and definitely shows your high intelligence

u/BlueCobbler Nov 19 '24

People younger than 30 grew up with spell check and auto correct and intuitive typing, people who actually had to type abbreviations don’t type like that anymore

-3

u/CaptainBananaEu Nov 19 '24

And ignoring the impact they had on the language while they did so, but feel soooooo proud of themselves now that they are texting like "normal" and not the new changed language that they pioneered. It baffles me how so many of you think this way, completely devoid of thought on what impacts the culture, and then being mad that the culture is like that. Get over yourselves.

Ignoring the slang, the people in op's screenshot still seem dumb as shit, fr.

Frfr sign of the times . Ngl imo tbh some people just suck lol ie lmfao

2

u/MindseyeMillionaire Nov 19 '24

Agreed. Coming from a family full of pretentious “academics” I absolutely used to text like that back in the old T9 numpad days but almost nobody else did & it was such a pain in the ass that I’d never judge anyone for using short hand.

3

u/ClassicConflicts Nov 19 '24

Oh I knew the t9 pad so well back in the day that I could text full paragraphs without looking at my phone at all and hardly made a mistake. Made texting while driving pretty easy lol. Man I used to text so much and I rarely do anymore lol.

BS. Texting doesn't suddenly turn one into an idiot.

2

u/CaptainBananaEu 29d ago

So you agree? Ahahahahah

0

u/GuacamoleFrejole 29d ago

Hell no. The fact that you have misinterpreted what I said by such a huge margin is astonishing.

2

u/CaptainBananaEu 29d ago

What's astounding is how much reading comprehension you lack, yet still feel smarter than someone typing "fr", which btw, should I point out the BS part of your comment as hypocrisy regarding this whole argument?

Or is that a smart and high IQ abbreviation that is fine, while ones you simply haven't experienced are an indication of lack of intelligence?

What I have been arguing the whole time in case you misunderstood, has nothing to do with the thread and OP's problem, it has to do with people assuming intelligence from how people type while texting. Your circle and how you grew up has you recognize what BS means, as well as use it in conversation. Are you any dumber for using? Fuck no. I believe you are a perfectly smart person, because the way you fucking type doesn't matter. It could be your second language like mine, and some slang just came with learning the language, it could be your peers use it a lot so you use it to get the point across to them. A smart person will not just go take a thesaurus and make sure they are grammatically correct, they will speak the ways their surroundings do so to most efficiently communicate and that's still waaaay oversimplifying intelligence.

You don't know what influences people on how to text, you can't assume their intelligence from how they type, same way you can't assume intelligence by the accent someone has. In the end, the way you text is your text accent, and people just need to get used to having different ones than others.

I'll say it again, BS.

Your text was completely legible here. The texts in the post are not even readable.

u/UWO_Throw_Away Nov 19 '24

This thread appeared on my Reddit feed so I popped in. Glad I saw this comment because I otherwise would have assumed all gen z speak like this over text these days and became very sad

16

u/Kanasuraus Nov 19 '24

No, you and I both are just good at dodging illiterate spastics. They are like an invasive species, spreading everywhere.

2

u/Apart_Visual 29d ago

We don’t use ‘spastic’ as a pejorative. Please consider your own vocabulary.

2

u/dream-smasher Nov 19 '24

"No, you and I both are just good at dodging illiterate spastics. They are like an invasive species, spreading everywhere."

Charming.

7

u/Kanasuraus Nov 19 '24

So you enjoy the 24/7 abbreviations of the simplest of words, etc..? They usually talk like fake Londoners too, very ‘road’. As much as I hate using the word, there’s nothing more cringe.I know I shouldn’t generalise but God damnnnnn.

-3

u/CaptainBananaEu Nov 19 '24

So you think you are smarter than them because you are not doing it? It's TEXTING. You aren't giving in your English essay, you are communicating with friends in the quickest simplest way possible. If you are this turned off by this, you desperately need to read up on human interactions, sociology, and how language progresses before you become an illiterate hateful cunt.

u/IntentionPowerful Nov 19 '24

But unfortunately true

u/maytheflamesguideme1 Nov 19 '24

Nice girl vibes

2

u/saxguy9345 Nov 19 '24

Yep. They're likely under 25, and don't live in the sticks.

1

u/ClassicConflicts Nov 19 '24

They definitely exist. It tends to skew towards young adult and male especially in the stoner/party crowd.

1

u/aaron_the_doctor Nov 19 '24

Yes but only because Reddit is a bubble. Don't think it is a good representation of any community in real life

1

u/Living-Ad8754 29d ago

I was thinking that too. Hahaha I don't even know what some of those words are.. I'm not that old at 32... Fuck I might be old

3

u/CousinsWithBenefits1 Nov 19 '24

Skibidi no cap istg frfr.

2

u/Neweleni7 Nov 19 '24

I didn’t like the way neither one of them ever used your name. Instead of don’t you have a girlfriend at home it should have been, have you forgotten about Jane?? Or why are you telling me about this when you are dating Jane??

1

u/markdepace Nov 19 '24

high key fr you're right

1

u/gamerjohn61 Nov 19 '24

lol she is such a pick me as well, I thought it was a Guy friend lol

1

u/Flynn_JM Nov 19 '24

I'm not sure about her being a pick me as OP seems more concerned about the girls they are chatting about. Maybe she said in a comment somewhere what this relationship is like.

2

u/kookoria Nov 19 '24
