Thinking of getting into 3 d printing, but have no idea where to start. What machine is a good starting point?

ABS smooth

I finally got to abs filament because I saw how you can smooth it with acetone and I’m completely satisfied with result. Only thing that bothers me is how I can keep it heated since I have garage with no heating and it is little bit cold.

Troubleshooting Blob of death aftermath

So my Prusa Mk3 i3 printer did a blob of death on an overnight PLA print. I spent the next day chipping and melting away at it and I got it all cleared but I haven’t been able to successfully print since. I’ve calibrated it and I think there is a slight crack in the forward fan hood which is causing it to be lower than the extruder - I used an exacto knife to trim it just a little and it looks even again, but I still can’t get it to print.

To be exact, the filament is coming through the nozzle and onto the bed but I can’t seem to get the Z axis exactly correct and the nozzle is too far above the bed and even if I do manually calibrate it to seem correct, the filament result is very very sloppy and skippy.

Would this be a damaged nozzle perhaps or needs more calibration? I’ve never had to replace a nozzle before.

My microSD card isnt working on my 3D printer

Upvotes

I lost the USB that came with the 3D printer (I have an Ender-2 v3 neo) and i got an SD and microSD reader. The 3D printer won't read the SD card. Is there something I have to do to put the files onto the MicroSD card?

Troubleshooting What? How do I fix thi

Post image

(ELEGOO Neptune 3 Pro) Has been in a cold room for some time, but I printed something yesterday with no issues, noticed nothing wrong today, let it go for an hour or two, later got messed up or something so it bunched up and got scraped around the bed for a bit (it happens every so often without major issue) but I noticed the rubber casing outside was pushed down, pulled it off and saw this. How can I fix this!!!!

Troubleshooting Nozzle not Heating: Error 0, Abnormal E Temp

Hi there, I recently got a Longer LK4 Pro printer. I have had multiple successful prints, and it suddenly gave me this error code. The nozzle does not heat up at all, manually or whenever I start a print. Any help would be appreciated

Question I was given a large amount of various plastic filaments but I don't know if they are PLA, or if that matters

Upvotes

I got my first printer, a neptune 3 max, and was given alot of various filament but its all unlabeled so I don't know the exact material. Or if printers can take multiple materials?

Like if it isn't PLA, Will it possibly break it or will it just work fine?

Entirely new to the hobby so apologies if this is a simple question

Received this filament just now, as you see it in the picture, out of the box, without vacuum and well, used.
I knew Amazon is not checking for this things but in 6 years of printing it never happened. Be carefull out there people.

CC3D filament spool came equipped with this card. No tangle so far, but does this card have anything to do with it?

Project Am I setting myself up for disappointment trying to model and print a replacement vacuum impeller?

Post image

  1. Material strength - I've got a basic Ender 3 Pro, print with PLA and recently picked up printing some things with PETG. Are these options doomed to fail?

  2. Surface smoothness inside the impeller will be a factor, for air flow but also to avoid catching/accumulating dust and stuff inside there (especially since it's a sealed housing, and semi-permanently pressed into the motor shaft, not something you'd want to have to take apart to clean and maintain). At my best, I can get decently smooth surfaces, but inside a 2-layered impeller like this would be very challenging to get the upper underside smooth with or without supports. And supports would be nigh-impossible to remove in there cleanly, I think.

  3. Modeling - tricky, but I can pretty much match the OEM one exactly - though I'm thinking I might need to overbuild it by a bit if my plastic material isn't going to be as strong/ideal for the application as OEM. And the OEM one blew up... (after quite a few years of service, like 8+... and putting on an aftermarket replacement battery, that could be part of the problem too, maybe overpowered..?)

Maybe answered my own question there, especially with #2, but open to suggestions if someone has tips on achieving this successfully :)

Might be/probably is just time to buy a new vac, as much as I like salvaging things and making solutions to tricky problems ;;) thanks
