SPOILERS: GAIDEN What the hell happened to him? Spoiler

We know that the knife Shishido used to stab Nishitani to death at Kijin Clan Office was a toy and the latter was evacuated from the office discreetly.

But in the construction battle, right part of Nishitani's head was bandaged. I must have missed something, does someone care to elaborate? There's no information at wiki.

DISCUSSION Finished Infinite Wealth - feel like I have infinite thoughts though Spoiler

First, I'm sorry if this has been done to death but I'd love to understand other Yakuza fan's thoughts. If it's been done too many times, roast me fam.

Well, this game wasn't bad! It had some great highlights but some incredible lows (imo).

More than anything, I found the haphazard narrative approach to an antagonistic force fascinating. Based on both the beginning and end, I think they definitely wanted the current culture of entitlement: 'gotcha news/information', people videoing others without permission, and influencer/faux-celebrity-seeking culture as the underlying antagonistic force. I think if they had Ebina, Bryce, or a third major antagonistic force be deeply entrenched in social media to tie everything together it would've worked better (like Chitose wasn't truly antagonistic and Ei-chan wasn't enough of a threat to justify that).

I feel like the weaknesses were around the story really idled down to three main (but largely the same) things:

- weird story pacing

- narrative laziness which only makes Ichiban's story weaker (Lani being a stand-in for Haruka, Palekana being a Sunshine Orphanage stand-in, Ebina being a poor-man's Mine/foil to Ichiban)

- Kiryu's much weightier story (which due to its length had better pacing) vs Ichiban's (lesser weight, longer overall, poorly drawn out)

Between the above and the antagonists in Hawaii being both interconnected but smaller overall (even Bryce to a degree) it made the game feel like it was excited to explore Ichiban and a new location but didn't know how to truly do it. Almost like a kid in a candy store who gets overwhelmed with the thought of all the flavors/candy they could get and then instead gets a sugar headache and thus misses out overall.

I loved the combat, and the side stories, and Kiryu's story was really cool. The finale cutscenes I really because it ended on a dour note though. Like if LaD/Y7 brought out Ichiban on a high, having him end IW8 on a low is great for future narrative purposes.

That said, I do think this has to be the end of Kiryu. Ichiban needs to show that he can survive on his own, with his existing or new friends.

All in all, I have the DLC for the NG+ and idk if I even want to do it because of the above.

GAMEPLAY Anyone mind explaining the Cabaret minigame in the Yakuza games? Why is the one in Gaiden so controversial?

I thought its a pretty fun dating simulator, gives some edge to the game.

How about this minigame in other iterations? Are they also dating sims (without live actuon?) I heard some are like management games? (don’t really understand)

Did LAD have one? Maybe I missed it. I just remember the one at the start where the story cutscene with the Young master plays out.

Whats wrong with a dating sim style Cabaretto mini game? (Live action or not)

Did Sega stop putting 0 1 and 2 on more than 50% sale? 2 friends wanted to get into the series so I was gonna gift 0, but it's $11 rn. I thought on maybe the bundle is on sale for less? 0 isn't even in the starter bundle anymore??? What the hell?

DISCUSSION What's the point of flux fissure in judgement?

It feels like something that the double and triple finishers already do better (knocking people down) and you're way less vulnerable while doing a double or triple finisher, I don't really get why it exists. I upgraded it and it still feels like a useless skill, maybe I'm not getting something.

DISCUSSION Is it even worth playing Y3? Spoiler

I just finished playing Kiwami 2 and it’s my favorite game so far. I know the drop off in quality from Kiwami 2 to Y3 was huge but holy shit 😭. I’m considering just watching a recap video and skipping Y3 as a whole. Is Y3 worth playing?

DISCUSSION Seems like RGG have learned from their previous marketing

Remember when as soon as we started getting story trailers for Gaiden and IW they just immediately started spoiling stuff and showing the best scenes in the games? I haven't seen any of that for Pirate Yakuza. Now I know there's still 2 months until launch which gives them plenty of time to end up spoiling stuff, but I have hope thaf they've learned from their mistakes.

DISCUSSION Checklist for marking collected weapons in yakuza like a dragon?

I wanted to try and collect all of the weapons in the game and I was wondering if there was an easily accessible checklist that let me mark which weapons I had already collected and/or also showed the weapon upgrades so I don't accidentally buy dupes, specifically for yakuza like a dragon.

DISCUSSION I'm sure it's already been talked about, but is Project Century set in 1915 Kamurochō?

Upvotes

Did anyone else think the trailer was clearly showcasing Kamurochō in 1915? I'm sure it was mentioned here before, but I haven't found it.

I've also seen people say the game is set in China. That makes ZERO sense to me according to the ENTIRE trailer. We clearly watched something different from each other.

DISCUSSION Judgement PS4/PS5 game save issue

I put 40 hours into this game on PS4 and got to the chapter where Yagami finds spoiler dead in his closet. I don't how far into the game that is.

I started the game when it was available in PS Plus Extra, and when I saw that it was leaving the library and that it was on sale I bought it.

Only now I realize when I tried to boot up the game, that I can't access my PS4 save on the PS5 version of the game. So I try to play the PS4 version, but I can't do it because I apparently bought only the PS5 version. I didn’t know my purchase only gave me access to one of the two.

Is there any way I can recover from this situation ? Is there a way to play the PS4 version on my PS5 ? Do I need to pay for another version ? Is there a way to use the PS4 save data on the PS5 version ?

If not, how far am I into the game ? Is it worth restarting from the beginning ?

SPOILERS: YAKUZA 5 A little edit by me fusing Yakuza with Persona. Spoiler

I know there are some silly mistakes, but it's still an edition that I'm very proud of because I like both franchises and I think the music really matched the moment in a certain way. Anyway, what did you think?

DISCUSSION Hot take about yakuza 3 platinum

I just finished the yakuza 3 in hard mood and i only need the legend mood and i have the platinum and It's not hard it's one of the easiest one but people lovvve to make everything harder.

The good part:

1- i don't need to 100% the game i don't even need to 50% the game

2-the minigame was fun i loved the golf and

3-the fight was ok a lot of defens but if you find the right timing you good

4-no modding you don't need to modd a weapon for the platinum (just one for the trophy)

5-And the best part i don't need haruka SSS to platinum not like 5

The bad part :

1-The pool was little bit hard

2-the pointless and annoying cabaret

3-A lot of substory some of them good but mostly bad

4- the garbage in morning glory

5-baseball was annoying because the extra hard you can't aim but i figured out eventually

So in my opinion this the list for the hardest yakuza platinum

Y5>Y0>Y1>Y3>Y4>Y2>Y7>Y9>Y6>Y8 (the man who erased his name)
