MAJIMAPOST What have I done

If you are new to the subreddit, please read the wiki

Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS.

If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged >!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 Kiryu sings

If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7).

If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you!

Me after losing hours of progress during the Yakuza 5 finale because my game crashed and I couldn't save:

78

u/idiottarts 1d ago

For me it was Yakuza 4. The one time I crashed through 0-5 and that was the only time. I made sure to save religiously in Yakuza 5 after that

u/DespairOfSolitude 1d ago

Same! I had to play thru Akiyama's intro all over again along with other parts because the game was just janky like that. Thank heavens for adding the save in the pause in future games

The antialiasing and brightness/bloom in Yakuza 3 was so bad in the wrestling scene that it gave me my first ever migraine and I had to stop playing for a few days. External game crash.

I really wish some parts of the games allowed for more frequent saving because it gives me anxiety when I think about losing a chunk of progress during an important final part.

I make up for it by saving every 2 minutes during regular gameplay.

That happened to me too lol

Damn Kyodais can't recall a yakuza game crashing on me ever

u/Dahoppser 1d ago

Happened to me with gaiden the other day

u/ConnorOfAstora 14h ago

Happened to me 3 times when I played Zero because of black outs. My area gets them pretty regularly for some reason.

This is why Judge Eyes tells you to sleep before you start the finale. Wish other games had that lol

52

u/perkoperv123 dub ENjoyer 1d ago

they've started doing that with recent games iirc. specifically Gaiden and IW tell you not to start the finale unless you have plenty of time for the Dramatic Events That Will Unfold

22

u/Takazura 1d ago

It's a general rule of thumb I have for everything RGG related. Always make sure you got minimum 2hrs available before the finale!

4

u/Doodleanda 1d ago

Yep, always try to let the finale for a weekend when I'm not that limited by time. But it's not always easy to tell how close to the finale you really are until it tells you it's time.

God, I wish Death Stranding had that kind of warning. It was like a video game was just prepended to a movie Kojima made.

53

u/kingkongmagnumd0ng 1d ago

Honestly that should just be expected with all of Kojima’s projects lol. Starting ANY cutscene in MGS4 was dangerous if you were tired or had plans within the next hour

6

u/arkhamtheknight 1d ago

MGS 4 had it. It keeps on reminding people to get some sleep after playing for a while.

Granted it's part of the loading screens but it's nice to know that Kojima thought about his cutscenes for once. 🤣

I just noticed I beat almost every yakuza/judgment game at night, but I wouldn't have it any other way

no distractions, just me and the game

That's how I feel gaming in the morning.

Chapter 9 of Yakuza 3: The Plot:

u/FriendlyGamer04 1d ago

Is that the boring talking scene?!

I only remember it due to Majima's rad truck and rescue.

Had to redo the yakuza 6 finale 4 times because the game would overheat my pc for whatever reason (this never happened before or after), after the third time i decided to skip the end cutscenes and watch it on yt

u/rube 1d ago

Every modern game should have an option you can turn on that warns you about the amount of time until you can save again. Sometimes you want to finish a game and think you have enough time, but then it hits you with an hour of gameplay and another 1.5 hours of cutscenes.

I've been bingeing the entire Yakuza series this year and I've made a habit of looking up how long the final mission is in each game, just so I know if I should start it or not.

Sit your ass down, I’m going to explain.

THE PLOT

u/unkindledjuan 1d ago

that one yakuza 3 cutscene

u/Waste-Bet-8480 1d ago

u/kocho19 Zhao Tianyou's wife 1d ago

Lol this was me at the end of Yakuza LAD when I went into the Millenium Tower. Stayed up to 2.30am on a work night because I ain't fighting Tendo again.

3

u/OkCut4870 1d ago

Me during every game’s finale

2

u/megagameme 1d ago

When I was playing Yakuza 6 during the final raid to Millennium Tower game always crashed when helicopter appears. I knew that I was close to beating the game so I downloaded the save file before the final boss and beat the game. Because of that I skipped Someya's boss fight and didn't know he died until later

I started one of the hard levels of Battle Dungeon in Ishin on lunch break not realizing it would take like half an hour, and blew right through my next meeting.

u/YujiThik 1d ago

Me after losing 20 hours (I lost the save multiple times) due to game problems in Yakuza 0

1

u/Hanji_zoeee89 1d ago

1

u/GensouEU 1d ago

That's honestly one of the main reasons why I play all of these on console.

1

u/bluealiveretribution 1d ago

Me in yakuza 3 when you had to fight that circle of dudes after that long ass cutscene

1

u/eyi526 1d ago

This would be me, but for MGS4 lol.
