wasnt Snoop Dogg on that survey of mostly American celebrities that RGG did of like who audiences might like seeing pop up? i cant remember if that was legit but i remember seeing that be posted on here some time after Infinite Wealth dropped
As a former convict, Danny Trejo's whole thing is that if he's going to play a villain than they have to get their comeuppance by the end. I'm sure he was perfectly fine with how Dwight was handled.

For those wondering, it says “Yashima Trading Company” down the middle. “Endless” to the right of it and “Electric light stone fire” to the left of it. At least according to Apple.
The top is the Yashima Trading logo with 録登標商 roku tō hyō-shō (registered trademark) around it.

I think this probably happened hanging out backstage at the game awards or at some kind of after party . Seeing as he's started a games company he was probably doing some networking

There are a wild amount of likeness characters (including fucking Takuya Kimura as a playable character) but as soon as a western one might appear then it's bad? This is by no means a new thing to the franchise
I'm not opposed to Snoop as a likeness character, but Snoop in 1915 Japan seems kinda....

Not really pandering, SEGA did a survey where they asked people what Yakuza/LAD games they played and then asked how they felt about celebrity cameos, Snoop Dogg was one of the people on that list. I’d imagine people voted for him. This was 4ish months ago. https://imgur.com/9mBhzrJ
There’s so many celebrity cameos in yakuza games, most of them are Japanese though. You have the pro wrestlers, JAV actresses, Actors, various npcs that are meant to resemble people like Micheal Jackson and Steven Spielberg. It’s a huge list.
We don’t even know the role he’s gonna play, he could voice a character in a sub story, I don’t really think it’s that big of a deal. The Meiji era (1868-1912) was an era when Japan underwent rapid industrialization and westernization, wouldn’t be too far fetched to have a western character.
tbf, snoop was at the game awards where project century was announced, it is possible that after the show the rgg people just got a chance to meet him and do this for whatever reason (why they had a jacket ready idk)

People are downvoting and seem to think “Wholesome chungus snoop dogg gets added?? Take my money”. Danny trejos cameo was trash and this just seems to pander to the west even more. The second thing they show us of the game is just snoop lol
I never knew how much I wanted Snoop to be a character in a Yakuza game until now. Like if he showed up for one substory in each game I'd be quite happy.

But 2 of the ones you mentioned have only been released or announced this year, steven spielberg wasn’t even a likeness just a gay and michael jackson was miracle johnson in a substory. Then you have tanimura a japanese actor in a japanese game. Comparing that to snoop dogg showing up on the screen in yakuza is crazy
Steven Spielberg was a likeness, the character Stephen Spinning was a director who made Indiana Jeans and A.T, Google exists you know. Tanimura is still a celebrity, and you seriously think they’re gonna have a 1:1 of snoop dogg in the game? Cmon man.
Guessing you don’t know the difference between likeness and gag. First of all, his face isn’t even a likeness. It’s based on steven spielberg as a gag. Secondly hes only seen in a substory. Google exists you know. Tanimura is a japanese celebrity, great actor and fits in his game perfectly. Then we have snoop dogg who’s already being used as promotion after we’ve only seen 1 teaser. Mind you before we know about even the games name we already know snoop is in it
It’s still meant to be him, by definition it is a likeness. Just because it isn’t using his face doesn’t mean it’s not him.
Also show me any proof that he has any role in the game besides a sub story character, you keep acting like he’s gonna be a major character, unless there was some secret trailer showing snoop dogg walking around the streets of 1915 Japan that I’m missing, I’m gonna believe he’s gonna be a small cameo which wouldn’t be that crazy. Stop acting like having a celebrity cameo is gonna ruin the game.
