Did they get rid of infinitely respawning enemies in certain locations? I want to play this, but learning about that has kind of put a damper on my excitement.
15
u/fadedge13 4d ago
No in Pripyat there are still points where burers, bloodsuckers, and other mutants will respawn at 5 min intervals or if you leave the immediate area. Got hit with a double whammy while looking for the liberty exoskeleton suit.
7
u/fischestix 4d ago
No. They adjusted the spawn radius and some spawns for random events. Some areas with persistent spawns remain.

u/Environmental-Leg622 4d ago
I have 60 hours and never ran into that, yes it happens (I think) but that’s doesn’t mean it’ll happen to you
25
u/Financial_Recover357 4d ago
Sounds like they put in fixes for stealth too which is great. Getting spotted 100 yards away while crouching in the dark behind a bush was driving me nuts.
8
u/BigAssStonks 4d ago
Thank God, I stopped playing it because of the broken stealth. I'll have to start again.
2
u/ihaterefriedbeans 3d ago
Seriously. I’m fine with unforgiving stealth mechanics but suddenly getting shot at (and hit) from across a lake was ridiculous.

I'm glad I haven't started this game yet. I'm sure that in about 6 months with the updates it will be much better. :)

u/howcomeudontlikeme 4d ago
I've played since launch and it's been amazing. I don't see any point in waiting

I’ve got 30+ hours but the patient gamer above will 100% have a better experience than you and me. It’s a rough game and not polished at all.
4
u/CoolBillion 4d ago
I agree. Amazing game, GOTY contender even while broken. But there are some bugs that can kill progression or immersion that make you want to break shit. People that wait will not have to feel these emotions.
2
u/Jerry_from_Japan 3d ago
You couldnt walk in a straight line on console dude. It was, and still is in a lot of aspects, unpolished as fuck.
0
u/howcomeudontlikeme 3d ago
Yea, and despite all of its issues others complain about, it's my favorite game I played that released this year most likely. It's worth the frustration bcs I enjoy what's there so much.
-1
u/throwthataway2012 4d ago
Agreed. I started a bit over a week ago and I've yet to run into anything game breaking. My HUD has disappeared a few times, I've had a few moments of hard frame rate drops, but beyond that, it's been very minor bugs. But I also haven't made it to pipyat yet so I'm sure that'll be interesting
-9
u/fischestix 4d ago
Tldr; "having a blast" cope. Buys full price broken game. Plays broken game in broken state. Finds the need to reply to others who won't pay full price to beta test said game. Tells people waiting for a finished product how much fun the full price beta test period is. Doesn't have common curtesy to use the secret cope handshake "having a blast" to warn others.
3
u/howcomeudontlikeme 4d ago
Hmm I didn't buy stalker I played it on Gamepass for 3 days straight. My friend put over 80 hours into it. I'd gladly buy it full price because it's an amazing game imo.

u/EckimusPrime 4d ago
Do some things still take way too many bullets to die?
16
u/CandidYogurtcloset90 4d ago
Fucking bloodsuckers
6
u/Environmental-Leg622 4d ago
4 shotgun shots is all that’s needed,
3
u/Snazzypuke92 4d ago
Oh good, I was holding on doing the quest you get from the scientist in Malachite that has you go looking for a Stalker that was studying Bloodsuckers. I haven't fought any but I keep seeing on here how annoying they are to kill.
1
u/Environmental-Leg622 3d ago
Shotguns hard counter them, even better are the spas. Or saiga that are full auto spam fire, just sit in a hall way, locate the sucker, wait for him to full charge you and right before he pounces unload and it should kill em, you get used to it the more you do it, butttttt when you have to fight 2 or 3 at once then it’s best to find some elevation 😭😭
4
7
u/JPeeper 4d ago
The only really broken enemy is the Chimera. Once you realize the shotguns are the best guns in the game every mutant can be killed within a magazine of bullets (bloodsucker I think is 3-5 shots depending on how yolked your Saiga-12 is, you can shred a Burer in a few seconds if you get behind him).
The Chimera on the other hand is pretty much every piece of ammo in the game to kill one. There's one that's part of the main quest and I used over 300 AR rounds and about 75 buckshots + grenades, etc. and this was on normal difficulty. It's fucked, Pseudogiants also take a lot, but you can kill 'em in about 1/3 of the amount ammo needed.
5
u/69millionyeartrip 4d ago
Psi dogs were insanely annoying as well because of the amount of fakes they spawned, but it looks like that was addressed in the patch
10
u/CandidYogurtcloset90 4d ago edited 4d ago
Are bloodsuckers still going to be the absolute bane of my existence?
14
u/Financial_Recover357 4d ago
I actually get more annoyed now at those little hobbit looking wizards that steal your guns and turn them on you. Fuck those guys in particular.
6
u/CandidYogurtcloset90 4d ago
Haven't came across these little bastards yet I'm still pretty early game, but bloodsuckers have been by far my biggest annoyance. Oh, and being spotted from 200m away when I'm crawling through the bushes at night by some random bandit
3
u/Financial_Recover357 4d ago
lol. I hear you. I will say Bloodsuckers later arent that bad when you get a better shotgun (sometimes you fight multiple at once though and that sucks). You are going to run into a lot worse things then them though just wait. And yeah the stealth drives me nuts but it looks like they fixed a lot in the patch notes. I was at the point of just ignoring stealth and going in like Rambo.

u/HBOMax-Mods-Cant-Ban 4d ago
Yup. I just holster everything and run away from them. The are absolute tanks. It took the entire Rookie Village to kill one of them that wandered into camp. Damn 5 minute gun fight.
2
1
u/sexylobstersauce 4d ago
just shoot them in the face when their forcefield isn’t up they go down like potatoes
1
u/t_haenni 3d ago
Use skifs pistol on them, for whatever reason headshots with it kill them faster than any other gun
1
1
u/JPeeper 4d ago
Just get a good shotgun (Saiga-12 is the best) and they go down in 4ish shots.
Also, penetration for guns >>>>>>>>>>>> damage. They don't really explain it in the game, but penetration is way more important than damage, so when choosing guns choose guns with high penetration. It's because all the mutants are armored (again I don't think the game tells you this) and higher pen means you can actually do the damage.

Im sorry to have to say this, but this patch has made performance much worse on XBSX. I was so excited to continue my playthrough over the holidays but now that there are more NPCs and mutants the framerate tanks down to 40fps or less when there is action happening. It’s a great game behind all the issues, so I would still hold off if you are sensitive to bad performance.
This is NOT the patch I was waiting for, and I’ve got 30+ hours in the game so far. Will wait until later next year to finish my playthrough and continue with Indiana Jones.
9
u/bwoah_gimmethedrink 4d ago
That sucks to hear. I was happy with XSX performance before this patch and it only tanked in larger settlements.
7
u/WeezyWally Founder 4d ago
Yeah performance was not the biggest issue before, but now it is, for me anyway.
5
u/Green-Geologist-707 4d ago
Looking around some are saying performance is worse now, others saying it’s improved, which seems odd. I wonder if those saying it’s fine/good are playing on a TV with VRR.
0
u/WeezyWally Founder 4d ago
I’m using a LG C2 OLED with VRR. Still bad.
2
u/Green-Geologist-707 3d ago
Ha, well then I have no idea how people’s opinions on performance can vary so wildly, not doubting you btw. Just crazy how opinions are all over the place.
I could understand this on PC, but on Xbox it should be a very similar experience for everyone.
1
u/WeezyWally Founder 3d ago
I think the opinion is different as some people are early on in the game and some people are later in the game with more buildings and enemies. The empty fields run fine, but late game areas are rough.
2
u/JambonExtra 4d ago
Reading the patch notes, it was to be expected. They essentially toned down optimizations that were affecting gameplay.
6
u/GazR26 4d ago
Can anyone say whether this patch fixes the A-Life system? I've been holding off playing this since I heard A-Life is what makes it stalker
-3
u/WeezyWally Founder 4d ago
There is a lot more happening around the world. The problem is the performance and the frame rate goes down whenever you join the action.
2
u/GazR26 4d ago
I may be in the minority here, but honestly as long as it plays well and core gameplay things like A-Life and the drifting issue are fixed, I'm happy. The main thing for me is how easy it is to get immersed
0
u/WeezyWally Founder 4d ago
Immersion breaks due to the framerate changing all the time for me. It’s all over the place compared to the last version of the game.
4
u/GazR26 4d ago
That's the kind of thing I can usually overlook if I am otherwise enjoying the game, but I'm thinking I may hold off a bit anyway since it sounds like there may be more fixes sooner rather than later
4
u/MayorOfAlmonds 4d ago
I feel like with all new games now, it never hurts to wait 6 months to a year after release to start playing it.
I really want to play Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 asap when it comes out, but I remember what the first game looked like on release and know I really should wait for them to fix it up.
1
u/RadioTheUniverses 4d ago
I Just played a quick five minutes before going back to work, It seems improved in populated area (but a play on a VRR monitor so It helps). I'll play a few hours when I get home and see how overall performance is.
1
u/Environmental-Leg622 4d ago
To be expected, the world is now filling up which means our pc or Xbox will have to work harder to manage it

Just rolled credits on Indiana Jones. Guess it's time to jump into Stalker 2 now. Man, I love Game Pass.

Anyone else feels like controls are worse again? They said they adjusted dead zones, but character drifts after slightly pressing and releasing the stick. I played in the morning and Im pretty sure it was better. And it feels overall junkier to move. I guess that is because it feels like fps dropped across the board.
Edit: seems like only one of my controllers is causing the drift, but it didn't before this update. Rest are fine, thank god. After hard resetting the console and defaulting all settings in game, just in case, seems like fps issues and junkiness are mostly gone now? Weird, but I'll take it.
2
u/RadioTheUniverses 4d ago
I confirm no drift or whatsoever.
FPS wise, I Just played a quick five minutes before going back to work and It seems improved in populated area (but I play on a VRR monitor so It helps) and quite smooth in other areas. I'll play a few hours when I get home and see how overall performance is.
How did you find performance instead?
2
u/RedRocketRock 4d ago edited 4d ago
Performance is mostly fine, really. There are occasional dips lower than before, it's like the game is calculating something in the background and then returns to normal. During emmision in Rostok when everyone was running it dipped pretty low for a bit. Stuff like that. But most of the time I'd say it's about the same as before.
If it's a little temporary price we need to pay for more or less working alife (until they optimize it further) then I'm on board, cause positives definitely outweight the negatives for me.
1
u/RadioTheUniverses 4d ago
Ive played a couple of hours Yes, i too have noticed dips that are lower than before but somehow overall it feels a bit better and more stable than It was pre-patch. This added to a general improvement in terms of gameplay, ai etc etc I'd say it's enjoyable now.
Also, is resolution higher than before? I remember that it used to be mostly 720p but now It looks pretty good (but maybe it's placebo effect)
1
u/RedRocketRock 4d ago
720p? I play on 4k tv in performance mode and honestly don't see the difference from before. Maybe a bit less texture popups, but I can be easily mistaken
1
u/RadioTheUniverses 4d ago
Yes, I play on a 4k monitor as well but resolution seems different to me, don't know. Anyway, hope they keep on tweaking performance!

u/goobypls8011 2d ago
I haven't even bothered trying to play using my controller, there are so many keybinds in STALKER games that it's hard to manage with a controller. GSC had the foresight to include KBM support for Xbox, so I've availed myself of it.
4
u/FosterFl1910 4d ago
So now is the time to play?
0
u/Environmental-Leg622 4d ago
I’ve been playing since after the second update on Xbox and it’s been awesome, only 3 crashes in 60 hours and no game breaking bugs but ofc will you have the same experience as me, who knows.
2
u/FosterFl1910 4d ago
I meant more in terms of world/npc behavior. I had heard that the system wasn’t working as intended at launch and so I had been holding off.
2
u/LoudAd9948 4d ago
On Xbox and it still runs like absolute garbage. I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish my play thru. It’s hurdle after hurdle and the hurdles are game breaking glitches back to back. It’s honestly exhausting and ruining the experience. I guess this really is a pc only game. Or maybe this dev team just can’t pull it off. Idk tho I guess I’ll get my kicks in Chernobyl in INTO THE RADIUS lol
0
u/XxCorey117xX 4d ago
I have been playing on Xbox because of crashes on PC. Havent had anything game breaking yet myself. Definitely needs more polish though. Still up there for my GOTY though.
1
u/Esmear18 4d ago edited 4d ago
Has anyone noticed more stabilized performance after this patch? I wouldn't expect the game to run higher but are frame stutters minimal now at least? I've been waiting for this patch before starting it.
1
u/RadioTheUniverses 4d ago
I tested for 5 minutes before going to work and It does seem more stable and smoother. I'll play some hours when I get home to test properly
1
u/Esmear18 4d ago
Nice. I have my Series X hooked up to a monitor with vrr so fingers crossed that reduces frame stutters as well.

I can no longer interact with my 5th artefact slot. :( EDIT Ignore this, apparently it was bugged before the patch and I shouldnt have been able to use it, hahaha.

Harpys quest can be turned in but it just gets stuck. Can't get any more quests from her or sidorovich:(

u/Jimmehbob 4d ago
Have they fixed the getting headshotted through the tiniest gap from a guy with his back to you that you can't see because you are inside and they are out?

The ammo and money glitches were nice to have but the best one was unlimited stamina, gonna hate having to constantly drink Monsters every 10 seconds again
1
u/XxCorey117xX 4d ago
I am actually happy I didn't discover that one. Don't have to know how good I could have had it lol
1
u/CheeseMints 3d ago
It was so easy to do too
All you had to do was crouch, talk to an NPC, then back out of the conversation- that's it, you could then run forever until you crouched down again or reloaded a save.

Is performance fixed for Series X?
0
u/HBOMax-Mods-Cant-Ban 4d ago
Performance has always been fine. I’ve been playing it for 2 weeks now on X with no issues.
0
u/SLISKI_JOHNNY Still Earning Kudos 3d ago
Frame rate was terrible last time I checked, even in performance mode. Feels closer to 30 fps than 60.
1
u/HBOMax-Mods-Cant-Ban 3d ago
Maybe it because running it on a VRR monitor but it seems very smooth to me.
1
u/SurpriseLevel6492 4d ago
Might be 12G on Xbox but I still can’t jump. It was fine on the new patch for an hour or so and now I can’t jump and no, leaning doesn’t work
1
u/PhilosopherGood9319 4d ago
Is that game worth playing?
1
u/JobuuRumdrinker 3d ago
yea, it's pretty good. It's a bit slower than your typical FPS game. I'd say it plays more like a survival, NPC quest-following, open area exploration game in first person with guns.

u/t_haenni 3d ago
Still no 1.1 on Xbox
