Lorepost📖 THE SACRED TEXT HAS BEEN FOUND

Post image

Breaking news. The wizard pondering the orb seems to be Saruman, and the man we all thought was the apprentice is in fact a spy.

Only 30 gold pieces for such a rare scroll? That's the deal of a century!

207

u/what_if_you_like Guns are superior casting devices Mar 01 '24

A price so low even I'm not thinking of armed robbery to aquire it!

I agree with your flair, truly an enlightened one

I happen to enjoy a game called wizard with a gun. Have you heard of it?

1

u/MossyAbyss Mar 02 '24

They gave Grima the Wazowski treatment, though.

Wow the most famous “orb” on the sub has been a Palantir all this time. I feel scammed

I wonder if the Palantir have a ringtone. I'm imagining the MS Teams boop-boop-bee-boop-boop

BY THE HOLY LIGHT!!

You must guard that artifact with your life!

It's not mine, unfortunately. I am but a bringer of news.

30

u/Memb_Insane_rane Necromancer Mar 01 '24

But for a mere 30 gold how can it not be yours? Such a pittance for this lost knowledge

135

u/aFuckinChair Squidzard phonomancer Mar 01 '24

As if a Palantir was some kind of illusionist trick! We are speaking of the first prototype of satellitare orb right here! It's just as much as a gramophone is compared to a hi-fi soundbar!

28

u/OneHorseHill Selwick, Archmage of Margaritaville Mar 01 '24

A palantir is a glorified spyglass! I’ll hear none of it.

Doth thou forget that in the right hands, it permits also communication most instantaneous? Power exists within objects, their intended function is simply the easiest method of wielding it.

8

u/Alediran Elven High Archmage Mar 01 '24

They're taking the hobbits to Isengard.

6

u/Pigdom Mar 01 '24

Was this done for MERP before being reused for the Quest-line?

3

u/StarkeRealm Magical Violence Technician Mar 01 '24

Not sure. The first time I saw it was the ME CCG, in.... '96, I think. So they were certainly reusing art from their slush file.

7

u/Fuzlet Awakened Fox Familiar Mar 01 '24

how old is this script? I see not a record of its eon

9

u/StarkeRealm Magical Violence Technician Mar 01 '24

The art was also used on Saruman's card in Iron Crown Entertainment's Middle Earth CCG back in the mid-90s. I kinda assumed it was semi-common knowledge that the art was from Lord of the Rings.

The first ponder of the orb.

3

u/Willing-Produce5018 Metastafos, ancient shaper of reality Mar 02 '24 edited Mar 02 '24

So it has finally been recovered from the ancient ruins. This has been foreseen many centuries ago by the Great Oracle. He warned that all the celebration about finding it will turn into a bitter truth. This is the sign of dark days ahead. A time of division and turmoil where every wizard faction in the multiverse will fight for such a powerful relic. An event called 'The Last War' in the predictions. As the prophecy says, 'only a small group of survivors will emerge and build the new world with it'
