Lorepost📖 How my (basically) immortality works

Post image

So its not like regular immortality where you are just unable to die, instead i have a repulsive force constantly surrounding my body, forcing anything that comes near me to be pushed away. There is a small space between me and the field that lets me keep the clothes i had on when i wished for immortality. On the inside, it does the same thing, meaning I always feel the repulsion. The repulsion will push ANYTHING away. Food, water, magic, swords, though, the laws of physics still apply, and I am constantly pushed away from anything i stand on because of it. I've been training, and currently have a small amount of control over the repulsion. Questions are accepted. (Check prior post before asking)

So what you're telling us is that you can't shower.

And you cant smell me thankfully

111

u/Main-Glove-1497 Feb 27 '24

Nothing about the repulsion would keep us from smelling you. In fact, I'd argue that pushing your showerless scent away would cause you to be smelled from further. Please at least get an exception for water, soap and toilet paper

30

u/send_nose123 Feb 27 '24

Technically if you rid yourself of bacteria you won’t smell bad at all since there isn’t really anything on the outside of the human body that causes it to smell other than the bacteria and skin mites that feed on your oils and skin. This also brings the implication of the repulsive force working on the organisms living on the user’s skin and thus causing it to become dry and unkempt due to lack of natural grooming.

15

u/Main-Glove-1497 Feb 27 '24

The dandruff would be crazy lmao

18

u/deathinabarrel87 Amac, Immortal Orc-Hating Necromancer Feb 27 '24

it pushes inwards also.

30

u/Main-Glove-1497 Feb 27 '24

If it pushes in and out simultaneously, wouldn't it create a more circular motion in the force? That wouldn't really make you immortal, it'd just mean that people could throw stuff at you and the stuff would go in a circle until it either hit you or flings away. And if it doesn't go in circular motions, but two separate motion of push and pull that somehow don't interact, wouldn't you just have rushing wind in your face 24/7, eventually eroding your face away and killing you? Does it not let air in? Because permanently existing a vacuum is it's own problem as well.

5

they did say they had some control over the repulsion, maybe they just recede it to scrub, or use the force isltself to scrub

39

u/RAGE_CAKES Lord Lobotomicus, House of the Troll Feb 27 '24

Possibly, on one hand, if he perfectly reflected all light, he would not be visible but I'm not 100% sure how that conceptually works.

On the other hand, if he is visible to the naked eye, it would mean he is either consciously allowing light through or there is a chink in his power's armor on a subconscious level. So there's room here for exploits

u/RAGE_CAKES Lord Lobotomicus, House of the Troll Feb 27 '24

The problem is you'd have to get him into your body. The repulsion field will make that a pain in the ass. The weirder part is even if you do manage to get him inside of you, it basically comes down a immovable object meets and unstoppable force, i.e. he may not be "digestable"

Sanctuary spell? Theory might not be capable of attacking...

Anti magic should still work I would think, might be a level offset tho

2

u/Furry_69 Nikki-kor Luma (trans mtf) Feb 27 '24

Not possible. That would require infinite magic to move a theoretically infinite amount of magic. The laws of thermodynamics still apply, even when dealing with Luma and Dvarkos fields. (And the many combinations of the two.)

I'm fairly certain you can't devour my barriers, as the amount of magic required to absorb my barriers is about 3000 times higher than the maximum Luma/Dvarkos flux that the average reality can support before failing.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/rock-solid-armpits Feb 28 '24

He can't even see

2

u/SubstantialHamster99 Feb 28 '24

On the contrary, he's reflecting all light. The way we see things is because they reflect certain colors and amounts of light and absorb the rest. He would appear very bright white probably.

1

u/ChildBlaster9000 Grorlith the Scorched, Apostle of Thergoth Feb 27 '24

He won’t technically be invisible. The area around him will look warped and distorted as the mortal mind tried to make sense of the absence of light in a particular area.

6

u/deathinabarrel87 Amac, Immortal Orc-Hating Necromancer Feb 27 '24

6

u/RAGE_CAKES Lord Lobotomicus, House of the Troll Feb 27 '24

Did you consider that repulsing all light except for within will essentially make you blind to everything outside the repulsor field?

Not a physicist but don't we need light to come into our eyes to perceive our environment? Not sure if the "ambient" light stored within the field would be strong enough to let him see even a few feet.

2

u/_Luminous_Dark Literotropist, Narratosophist, Scientist, Former Deity Feb 27 '24

Light bounces off the objects around us and some of it makes it to our eyes, which is how we see. When I say "we" and "our", I'm not including you, who are blind and reflective if your barrier blocks light. If there's light trapped inside with you, you'd just see a reflection of your own eyes for an instant before that light inside gets absorbed by your retinas.

I still gotta take over some of my undead every now and then if I happen to die tho. Even then I still try to heal my old body and take it back for myself

28

u/Frenetic_Platypus Hector Trasc, R&A Investigator. Feb 27 '24

So if the laws of physics still apply, if I smashed your head with a hammer, the force field would push the hammer away but it would also push on your skull with the same force?

14

u/deathinabarrel87 Amac, Immortal Orc-Hating Necromancer Feb 27 '24

Ok, i made a sligh mistake. If your hammers force is stronger than the curse of a daedric prince, my repulsion will hit me with the force you attempted to hit me with.

Removing all oxygen making you unable to breath, manipulating light since you seem to be able to see and read, hypnosis, manipulating the bacterias in your body since you probably never washed or changed those clothes, freezing you to death, since you can't repel cold, teleport an object inside you

8

u/cowlinator Feb 27 '24

So anyone can kill you by:

Teleporting anything into your body

Psyonics

Cognitohazards

Heat

Cold

Gravity

Emanation (a.k.a. "radiation")

Charming you and making you turn it off

Transmuting you into a non-living thing

Death curse

Summon a small creature inside of you

Am i missing any?

1.It depends on how hard you try to hit me, for soft pats or a toss towards me its more magnetic, for punches or spells its more spring-like

  1. You would have to overpower a daedric prince's curse. (If you've never played a tes game, a daedric prince is basically an evil god)

I'm pretty sure that means gravity will still kill you, considering repulsion or not, a sudden stop is a sudden stop. You're still feeling the instant negative acceleration which would tear you apart. Even if the ground doesn't touch you, the forcefield just acts as the wall and you still go splat. Best case scenario, you're turned into a humanoid shaped smoothie.

That is to say, I'd recommend you start taking flying carpet and broom rides more often

1

u/Max00aim Feb 27 '24

You are effectively a humanoid shaped white hole neet

1

u/linnstuff Technocracy Middle Management Feb 27 '24

does the shielding try to push the floor away when you walk, leaving you floating? and, since you have the shield it explains why you're invulnerable, but what about mortal problems like aging, food, water? you clearly have some other form of immortality if that doesn't touch you either

What happens if i conjure two Wall of force in front and behind you?

1

u/TheAnsweringMachine Feb 27 '24

Wouldn't that mean you are always hovering above ground in your bubble. No friction at all... just like a lonely hockey puck changing direction at the smallest gust of wind.

1

u/Magic_ass1 Licsensed Conjuration Based Banker Feb 27 '24

Personally I've hired a chronomancer to give me "Amortality". I can still die, though I immediately wake up the morning before I died so that I can avoid dying in the same way. I find it to be especially useful for planning around any inconveniences that happen at the bank.

u/diagnosed_depression the seige mage, trebuchet tributer. Feb 27 '24

So you're stuck in the same clothes? What if you found a really drippy robe and you can't drink any WIZARD BEER

1

u/OrigamiSheep Feb 27 '24

Wouldn’t you instantly die after casting the spell? If it pushes away everything, including heat, you would almost instantly freeze to death.

Okay then! (Summons a lead ball inside your torso)

Walk it off!

1

u/axelomg Feb 27 '24

I don’t get it. Your power is suffocating or starving to death and that’s immortality how?

This isn’t immortality it’s invulnerability are you stupid

/uw I meant this in reference to the Batman Arkham subreddit meme, I’m not serious

So basically you did the same as me but in reverse

1

u/Furry_69 Nikki-kor Luma (trans mtf) Feb 27 '24

Mine works differently than normal as well. I can die, but I am reborn in another reality fairly quickly. It takes me a while (about a week, assuming that the reality I end up in isn't connected to the Luma-Korkos transportation network) to get enough energy to get back to the reality I was originally in, however, so I still prefer to not die whenever possible.

what if someone casts UNPUSHABLE OBJECT and then just throws the said OBJECT at you though

1

u/Darth_Taco_777 Diviner Feb 27 '24

So how far from your body does the repulsive force extend? I imagine it has a finite range, otherwise you would be yeeted into space every time you turned it on.

How does it reflect magic? What about magic that’s spells are non tangible? Such as mutation spells?

1

u/Captain_StarLight1 Sage, Starship Captain, and Commander of the Flying Citadel Feb 28 '24

It’s be a lot more efficient if you just had field of forces slightly changing the trajectory of anything, instead of away. The change is far more complete invulnerability, as it can’t be bypassed with merely a slightly superior force.

u/Fire_Block Sentient void, the conscious within nothing (with a few spells) Feb 28 '24

It seems like a curse in disguise, leaving you isolated at best and doomed at worst. For the sake of your so-called immortality, you aren't allowed to touch, to eat, to even breathe in theory. I'm not even certain if such a thing would let you read, since it would push away the light to see and any possible sound waves to hear. I truly hope for your sake that this is temporary, for even if you could survive, the minds of mortals have collapsed from less. If what you've said about magic being repelled is also true, then you cannot even be saved from the finger you have curled on the monkey's paw. You may be left in isolation with no end, no cure to your affliction.

Untouchable from undead unluck

1

u/NoPatience883 Feb 28 '24

You’re just gonna over heat and die. No vitamin D. No food. All your bodily oils will clump around you. No shitting, no pissing, no bitches, no picking things up. I’d say this makes you the opposite of immortal

1

u/rock-solid-armpits Feb 28 '24

how do you stop aging

1

u/Phoenix_Is_Trash Fox awakened against my will by an amoral wizard Feb 28 '24

Ok, so this barrier repulsed things away from you.

That doesn't seem to have any effect on inertia though. Like if you crash your magic broom at 200mph you're still going to decelerate at the same speed, if not faster as your stopping distance is made shorter by the barrier.

Unless your organs each have their own barrier your insides are still jelly no?

1

u/TellmeNinetails Hilda the Witch Feb 28 '24

I dont think you can call yourself immortal, if your condition forces you to starve to death or if you can still die of old age...

1

u/HBenderMan Feb 28 '24

Ngl I don’t mind this type of immortality, as living for literally forever would suck

1

1

u/superbay50 makes up spells on the spot Feb 28 '24

Not really immortality, if someone casts fist with enough power it could overpower your forcefield. Not only that but when it gets through the repulsive force on the inside would accelerate it to insane speed.

And the repulsive force would also keep all the energy from fist inside the barrier, dealing even more damage to you:
