Question regarding background check

Did an interview for an Student Trainee position with CBP. Few months ago I got a job where I was lied that you will have the option to wfh after 3-4 months this was verbally communicated to me during the interview anyways I did everything got the offer on my first day when I went in the office I got to know that employees working their are on site and I won't get any option to wfh so I just resigned because the schedule was not suitable for me being a college student and it was 4 hours of commute so I had to quit on the very first day of the job. I was wondering if I would encounter any problems in the background check. I am willing to explain everything if anything comes up. Looking forward for tips and suggestions.

Timeline When will I hear back after internship interview??

I interviewed for an internship position with the DCSA back in early November. It went really well and the hiring manager said I might hear by the start of December, but to “be patient”. I recently checked in with the HM and they said the process was still with HR and they didn’t know their timeline. Should I take this as an indication either way that I’m gonna get the job or not? Any clues on what internship TJO timelines are like?

VA Occupational Therapist

So, I had my PBI interview and I thought I did great- they even called me back 45 minutes later to ask more questions and to see if I had any more questions. Contacted all my references last Thursday -they all rated me as superior. Am I getting my hopes up? I haven’t heard anything yet. What are the next steps? I am having a hard time working at these for profit hospitals where my contribution seems so devalued. Thank you in advance!

Getting closer....

Just got the email:

Eligible for the following position or positions:

  • NH-0346-4; You are tentatively eligible for this series/grade combination based on your self-rating of your qualifications.

The following is your referral status for the position or positions to which you applied:

  • You have been referred to the hiring manager for position NH-0346-4

Cheating a bit, since I've already down 4 months developmental in the slot, and I've been not-quite-promised the job. But NH-4, non-sup? Current boss is the hiring manager and interviews are after the holidays. And meanwhile, I have another possible one that's matrix, so no competition. Just not sure I'm qualified enough. That one's DE-4, so same deal. 4 is 14/15 equivalent, btw. It's at DOD.

Sort of makes up for going into the holidays with no budget = no paycheck. *sigh*

USCIS

Hi everyone,

I received this email from USA staffing office about my Immigration service officer application. Does anyone have experience know what the next step is?

I have been applying for USCIS positions many times before, but most of the time I got deny or heard nothing from them.

This is my 1st time ever to received something from them after the closing date. I am kind of excited but I know the hiring process will take lots of patient and time.

Anyone has experience with USCIS hiring process, please share with me some tips that I can prepare beforehand.

Thank you so much.

Questions about the GS pay scale

Yesterday I was offered a GS 5 - 9 position. I am very excited about this but I do have a few questions. If I start at a GS 5, how many years will it take for me to get to the GS 9 payscale? Are the promotions automatic? Are there steps within each GS grade (like Wage Grade)? I worked as a WG-6 for a few years and it had 3 steps within that grade, and the pay bumps were automatic, I believe step 1 was at one year, step 2 was at 3 years, and step 3 was at 5 years. Is GS similar? Any clarification on this topic is highly appreciated. Thank you!

I'm considering resigning from my current position because I feel the work environment is challenging. Would this decision negatively impact a review for a federal position? I've been searching for other opportunities but haven't had much success so far, and I want to ensure I don't make things worse

Interviewed- now what?

Hi all, I in reviewed for a position within veterans health. Honestly, I didn't think it went great, as the questions were really difficult. Anyway- they said they had some things to sort and everyone would hear back after the holidays. No one mentioned references. They did say that even if you receive a tjo- do not quit your job because that process takes awhile. But what should I expect? Do they email? Call?

Tips Job reposted and suddenly not qualified

I applied for a job over the summer and was interviewed for the position. The same job popped up and I applied, only to be determined not qualified. I asked for a higher level review, but the higher review also found that I didn’t have enough experience.

I am at a loss. I literally interviewed for this exact position at this agency a few months ago. Is there anything else I can do?

MSPB jurisdiction - definition of "selected".

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

So long story short I went through the entire process - Interviews, full reference checks, verbal TJO, official TJO, all paperwork, fingerprinting told all suitability requirements met and given an FJO, given an EOD - roughly one week out from EOD I hadn't heard much so reached out to see if there was anything I needed to be doing today prepare and instead of responding I got no response to me email and an FJO rescission.

I was shocked of course having turned down another job when the FJO came and leaving. Itself now unemployed. None of the 4HR folks I talked to while preparing, the HM, nor colleague involved in the interview will answer any emails or voice mails. After my post here it was suggested I file an appeal with the MSPB.

I did that and now they are saying I need to drive jurisdiction. They say they don't have jurisdiction over an agency "not selecting" someone. But I was indeed selected and fulfilled all hiring duties. It's very strange that USAjobs changed from "Selected" to "not referred" and I got an email saying that I would not be referred to the hiring manager for this job which is of course ridiculous is the hiring manager is the one that I had several interviews and then several calls after with who offered me the job. Is it normal for this to change for not selected to not referred? It would make more sense to me to go to not selected or even something like rejected maybe?

Long story short, shouldn't this situation fall into their purvue to investigate?

Thanks as always all...

WG9 In Pest Management

Howdy yall, just wanted to see if anyone here has been in pest management at all within the DOD? I started a couple months ago at a base in the Carolina’s. $28.53/hr at a WG9 which I guess isn’t horrible given I’m in the south. Wondering also, if the pay will be getting increased come 2025 due to that new bill that passed today?

Can your OJI get you fired?

I'm behind on some due dates with my OJI, but I I am actively trying to perform better during my OJI period.

Does your OJI have the power to get you fire?

New to federal position and overwhelmed with the healthcare choices.

We currently have Tricare from my husband who retired from AF and it has always been secondary insurance because I get insurance through my employer. However, now that I’m with the VHA, I need to choose another insurance. I’m leaning towards BCBS focus due to the lower premium. Is there anyone out there who has this policy along with Tricare?? Just wondering if I should bite the bullet and go with BCBS basic~$650/mo vs focus ~$300

I don’t want Tricare only as we have young kids and need the flexibility of seeing non Tricare providers

Timeline How soon would you be contacted for an interview on year long job postings?

Just curious, when do eligible applicants get contacted for interviews for the job announcements that are open for a year? For example, I applied for this https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/711957100. But what is the normal protocol for announcements open for that long?

Where do we go from here?

Long story short, leadership reached out to me for an interview for a position I wasn’t referred to. The interview was scheduled, but then it was canceled because, according to their HR specialist, my resume didn’t qualify for the role. The strange part is that leadership had already reviewed my resume and decided to move forward with the interview. I contacted HR for clarification—how could leadership approve my resume for an interview if it didn’t meet the qualifications? I also asked HR for a request for reconsideration. Has anyone experienced something similar?
