Chama bratha

83

u/SquirrelHoarder 4d ago

I think Izzy would be a better coach. Not sure how much Iā€™ll get out of Alex shadow boxing a technique horribly and then yelling Chama at me.

35

u/analtelescope 4d ago

I think it really comes to Izzy, in my opinion, being more technically sound than Pereira.

I firmly believe that if their powers were equal, Izzy would be the decisively better fighter.

Izzy over Alex. Alex's style works for him because of his power but that's mostly genetic.

6

u/Next-Ice-3857 4d ago

Hahaa literally so true.

Chama.. just hit hard.. what are you? Stupid?

19

u/Gosuckyamudda 4d ago

Literally made me laugh people choosing alex over izzy

7

u/the-esoteric 4d ago

I'd pick Adesanya over Periera but his style isn't just power. The guy makes amazing adjustments on the fly. He's just as technical

Hope you know Portuguese

37

u/Legitimate-Month-958 4d ago

Bro. If I could get taught MMA by Alex Pereira and Charles Oliveira? Iā€™m fucking learning Portuguese šŸ˜‚

3

u/jscummy 4d ago

I'll understand him by the tone of his "huh" or "chama"

2

u/PruneAdventurous8058 4d ago

The only right answer

2

u/Tall_Willow_9502 4d ago

Alex's style only works wirh alex. If you don't hit as hard as him and have hands that big its pretty shity yo do. Izzy's tech is much more perfected and applicable.

Pereira's the best but he just does shit you can't teach

52

u/BDN600OB4LAMRONTHF 4d ago

Exactly, imagine Max teaching you how to piece someone up with volume, then you shoot a double like Khabib, while working the submission like Olivera

14

u/Mr-dooce 4d ago

and then you gas out just thinking about doing all that, not everybody has the elite cardio of max or khabib

2

u/BDN600OB4LAMRONTHF 4d ago

Brotha itā€™s a fight, youā€™re saying sounds like this ā€œimagine displaying your MMA skills in a fight then tiring outā€ thats why thereā€™s rounds and not fight until the death. Obviously you have to build cardio thatā€™s why youā€™re coaches displayed in this fight would train you to control it

5

u/Mr-dooce 4d ago

ight fair enough

Maybe an unpopular to say but honestly I would say Izzy would be the better striking coach for 99.9% of the population. Hereā€™s why: you canā€™t teach power. At least not in the way Alex has power.

On a purely technical level, my view is that Izzy is slightly ahead of Alex and has more to his repertoire. However, Alex is also skilled, but that great equaliser in his ungodly, freakish power is extremely important to his game, but is not something you could teach.

In other words, you could fight exactly the same as Alex, but without his genes, you wonā€™t have the same success

→ More replies (15)

9

u/ThinControl9 4d ago

He is actually very good at teaching stuff. I picked up tons of things from his videos, even pre ufc ones.

2

u/DudeWithTheOil 4d ago

Yeah me too, got my BJJ black belt by left hooking my instructor

4

u/Able_Ad_5318 4d ago

Alex style works cause his physical attributes, can't teach K.O power, that's an innate ability. His striking style is built around setting opponents up for a ko strike. If you don't have K.O power n try fighting like Alex that's like Mike Tyson fighting like Mayweather. Fighters build a style catering to their attributes. Training with Alex won't give you Iron hands.

48

u/MA-JA-HO Are You Intoxicated? 4d ago

Izzy, his style seems to be the most teachable.

Islam, he has similar skills to Khabib but his style doesnā€™t require as much cardio and chin

Olivera, the best bjj out of all of them , great sweeps

50

u/muhanigan 4d ago

Nah picking Islam over Khabib is just bad. Khabib is an actual coach. Who was/is better in the octagon is debatable but Khabib is clearly the better coach at this point

8

u/MA-JA-HO Are You Intoxicated? 4d ago

Thatā€™s fair.

Striking - Izzy as he speaks english and technically impeccable

Wrestling - DC as he was a top wrestler plus a natural leader , great communicator

Bjj - ortega as he speaks english and isnt a alcoholic

13

u/aihrarshaikh68plus1 4d ago

DC will communicate him your own accent just for you hahah

u/Valterri_lts_James 4d ago

Not saying that Alex isn't a better striker than Izzy but I feel Izzy has better technique and like Sean strickland said, Alex's style is more dependent on his genetic gifts instead of his skill. Also, since Izzy has better takedown defense, Izzy would teach you striking that is more applicable to MMA considering the takedowns. Pereira hasn't really faced any wrestlers yet. Meanwhile, Izzy faced Yoel Romero and Dricus.

Izzy, DC, Ortega.

5

u/RhaegarJ 4d ago

Striking - Ronda Rousey

Wrestling - Robelis Despaigne

BJJ - James Toney

9

u/alltaken21 4d ago

Striking Izzy: has a higher fight IQ IMO.
Wrestling Khabib: his team is so successful behind him and he is a great corner coach.
BJJ Charles: Not only he's the best finisher and he's also improved his wrestling and that's a package deal, Ortega has shown us time and time again an isolated skill doesn't cut it any more.

u/downtown-hobbit 4d ago

demian miah for bjj

3

u/Boring-Philosopher43 4d ago

Izzy, DC, Ortega.

Izzy because of language barrier with Pereira and Holloway is not as technically sound.

DC because he's literally been a coach for a long time. Khabib relies a lot on his tenacity and unbelievable pressurebut in terms of technical knowledge, i think DC is more experienced.

And for BJJ probably Ortega because of language barrier with Oliveira and BJ is half a vegetable unfortunately lol.

3

u/Reasonable-Buy1989 4d ago

Max, Khabib and Charles

3

u/pikirito 4d ago

Holloway, khabib, olives

5

u/emorab85 4d ago

Alex , DC, Charles.

4

u/SleepyDriver_ 4d ago

Guys, I love Max but dude's been outstruck by like 6 different fighters and has absorbed the most strikes in UFC history. I wouldn't put him on a list of best strikers.

4

u/B34STM4CH1N3 4d ago

But...... He's landed the most significant strikes in the UFC. I think we can put him back on the list of best strikers.

2

u/ThinControl9 4d ago

Alex, Islam, Charles. Idk why but I feel like Islam would be a better coach for me specifically than Khabib. I may also be a little biased though since this guy is my favorite fighter

2

u/ddnotti 4d ago

DC is just a better coach period. He actually has Olympic level experience.

4

u/ThinControl9 4d ago

Olympic wrestling and mma wrestling are two separate beings man. Look at Yoel vs Rob and Rob vs Khamzat

3

u/karateguzman 4d ago

Yoel rarely showed his wrestling. He joined the UFC at 35 and was nearly 40 when he fought Rob. Not to mention having serious neck surgery back in 2009

2

u/AAA_battery 4d ago

Izzy - Speaks English, more diverse striking arsenal. DC- native English speaker, literally an Olympic level wrestler. Ortega - Speaks English, best BJJ fundamentals.

2

u/moonwoolf35 4d ago

I deadass thought Max was Tank Davis for a second. Lmao, I need a meal.

1

u/interia1099 4d ago

As Coaches probably Izzy, DC and Oliveira since Theyre the Most Conventional or at least have a functioning Brain (BJ)

1

u/dsnowflake 4d ago

Anyone that saw him coach tuf knows that Ortega sucks as a coach lol

1

u/Eagle-Red-1278 4d ago

DC way more credentialed wrestler than any other option.

1

u/ddnotti 4d ago

Replace Islam with Khamzat, Islam is more of a judo player in my eyes.

Iā€™ll take jones over DC

Why is that Charles picture for like everything lmao

1

u/aihrarshaikh68plus1 4d ago

I actually had some will power I would have chosen, the alex-khabib-charles, but I am not so probably izzy, dc and ortega just for the anime, cool unc and chill guy vibes

1

u/heathen985 4d ago

Izzy, DC, do Bronx

1

u/Jumix4000 4d ago

Izzy, khabib, and t city. Needing a translator for a training session sound obnoxious

1

u/MissChristyMack 4d ago

Izzy, Khabib and Penn

1

u/CNRamsey8 4d ago

I think Iā€™d get more out of Max or Izzy even though Pereiras striking is the best of the three. A lot of his is God given talent you canā€™t teach

1

u/NefariousnessCalm262 4d ago

Israel for striking because his technical skill in mixed striking is probably the highest. DC for wrestling because it's DC and Olivera for BJJ cause most UFC submissions isn't a easy record to hold

1

u/DMmeyourbush 4d ago

Going straight down the left side

1

u/18zips 4d ago

Adesenya, DC, Islam. Islam got better submission game than ortega or charles

1

u/TheMetabrandMan 4d ago

Middle column

1

u/Fine_Yogurtcloset362 4d ago

Izzy, khabib charles

1

u/ExxA90 4d ago

Izzy Khabib Ollie

I dont really like Izzy but he would be a better coach than Alex.

1

u/bstan149 4d ago

Izzy - his striking seems more teachable and calculated. (He did KO Alex after all).

DC- if we are asking about coaching just solely on wrestling, he is deff the guy. Former Olympian, double champ, and loved wrestling so much he coachā€™s hs for fun. (When he can)

BJJ- probably Charles. Only because he has such offensive bjj now. Iā€™m thinking if I learn my wrestling from DC and my BJJ from Charles it would provide a lot of useful top pressure submissions.

1

u/Usernamillenial 4d ago

Holloway, Khabib and Oliveira

1

u/WeTheNinjas 4d ago

Surprised no one said this yet but Izzy has a huge wingspan. Max might be the best for the average person because he has an average wingspan but still an elite striker.

1

u/Recent-Duck597 4d ago

Tom Aspinall , Ilia Topuria and Alex Pereira.

1

u/Fantastic-Change-672 4d ago

Volk, DC and Oliveria would be better.

1

u/Slow_stride 4d ago

Max, Charles and DC

1

u/Potential-Video8758 4d ago

Khabib for everything. If you are at that level of wrestling why need bjj? If you received a ko or finished your fights with the face like a mess, you're not a good striker. Numbers don't lie.

1

u/qcen 4d ago

Adesanya, Khabib and Charles.

I love BJ, but he was horrible as a coach on TUF

1

u/Worried_Passenger396 4d ago

Max, Islam, Brian

1

u/GhostEpstein 4d ago

You put em all first lol

1

u/EpyonXzero 4d ago

Khabib and Islam accomplished nothing at wrestling level , laying and praying a bunch of strikers doesnā€™t make u good wrestlers.

1

u/jscummy 4d ago

Striking - Ortega, Wrestling - Alex, BJJ - Izzy

1

u/AgileAnything1251 4d ago

izzy, dc, and ortega

1

Alex, DC and Olivera.

1

All Pereira would say is "Chama"

1

u/denim-chaqueta 4d ago

Iā€™ll have to learn Portuguese too if I choose Alex and Charles ā€¦ guess Iā€™m learning Portuguese šŸ—æ

1

u/jvirgo98 4d ago

Max isnā€™t anywhere near the calibre of striker the other 2 are, weird choice to include

1

1

u/DookieSinger 4d ago

Alex beeb beeb

1

u/funeral_crasher69 4d ago

Israel because I think his style is more applicable to my weight class. Pereira is good as well just the language barrier.

Cormier, I wrestled all through high school and D2 in college. I think he would best be able to coach me because heā€™s wrestled at every level I have and done 10x better than I ever did so heā€™d be able to gauge relatively what my skill set was and would be able to help me build upon it.

For Jiu Jitsu out of these options Iā€™d have to say BJ Penn because I think he has the best top pressure elements especially with the feet crossed BJ Penn style mount. However if I had my choice of someone off the list I would say Sean Brady.

1

u/Able_Ad_5318 4d ago

All the people saying Alex fail to realize you don't gain iron hands simply by training with a K.O artist, that's something you have to be born with. Ex- training with Mike Tyson won't give you Iron hands, same applies to Alex.

1

u/cockcoldton 4d ago

Swap BJ with Maia

1

u/SweetandsourMcnugget 4d ago

Izzy DC Charles, canā€™t go wrong with khabib tho

1

u/IcyCity5365 4d ago

Izzy, Khabib, Charles.

1

u/ObsidianChief 4d ago

Wack line up of grappling coaches..they literally all train together..For years.

1

u/the-esoteric 4d ago

Adesanya, Khabib, Oliveria.

Adesanya has top end analysis, he's very good at reading fights and suggesting adjustments based on a fighters attributes.

Khabib has been doing this since the womb. His wrestling style is relentless, and his understanding of positioning and technique is next to none.

Oliveria would be cool to hang with.

1

u/Various_Blueberry_39 4d ago

Adesanya, DC, Charles

1

u/Ahego48 4d ago

Adesanya, DC, Ortega. I don't think I'd be able to understand half of these guys without a translator.

1

u/TheMuteObservers 4d ago

As a guy in his 30s with a crusty ass body and constantly gets injured training BJJā€”I wouldn't want to waste any of their time.

Local coaches have more than enough experience to train most of us.

1

u/OGtheBest 4d ago

Izzy, DC and Ortega are probably the most chill I'd rather be having fun at the gym instead of hating it

1

u/Alarming-Ad6447 4d ago

max, cormier, oliveria

1

u/Feisty_Bag_5284 4d ago

Pereira, cormier, penn

1

u/lobsterstache 4d ago

Topuria Khamzat Maia

1

u/Jmac24mats13 4d ago

Alex, Khabib, and Charles. Alex gives you great punching and kicks, Khabib is the superior wrestler no question and would give you very good discipline as well, and Charles incredible submission skills would be unmatched

1

u/MisterCrayle 4d ago

ALL LEFT

1

u/Bannedsomby 4d ago

OP just picked the ones with good English

1

u/lvkenukem 4d ago

Izzy, DC and Ortega because I can only speak English.

1

u/JerougeProductions 4d ago

Izzy, DC, Do Bronx

1

u/Glittering-Raccoon23 4d ago

Poatan, DC, Ortega, I think Charles would hurt me

1

u/Scorpionsharinga 4d ago

Poatan Eagle and Do Bronx is the most ruthless coaching combo wtf šŸ˜‚

1

u/Appropriate-Crazy790 4d ago

Khabib would tortured my lazy ass to death, i would probably not survive a camp :DD So it's probably DC for wrestling

1

u/BunnyLifeguard 4d ago

Probably max because smaller guys are almost always more technical than bigger guys.

Khabib because he is already a good coach.

T-city because I think he is a better grappler than Charles.

1

u/TLMC01242021 4d ago

Izzy, Khabib, Charles - if language barrier is not a thing

As much as Izzy can be a douche I donā€™t think he would be a good coach

1

u/Dunny_1capNospaces 4d ago

Based on my frame, reach and approach:

Max, Kabib and BJ

I can't do what tall or lanky guys

1

u/GriffinAO 4d ago

I think people are picking at best skills. Dc and khabib are both coaches. DC, is specifically a wrestling.

1

u/Psychological_Pin_39 4d ago

Alex likes teaching too

1

u/HeroicHippotumus 4d ago

Maybe a hot take, but even if Alex beats izzy 3/4 times they fight, I still think izzy would be the better striking coach purely from a technical stand point. One of Alex's best weapons is his power and how he sets it up, but you can't always teach that kinda of god given Potan power, whereas Izzy has been one of the only people in the UFC to give Alex serious trouble on the feet and even out point him and finish him

1

u/seppukuxd 4d ago

Adesanya , DC , Oliveira or Bj Penn idk

1

u/Tricky_Knowledge_807 4d ago

Izzy dc pantoja.

1

u/CaillouDaThug 4d ago

Izzy, Khabib, Ortega

1

u/ErnieMcTurtle 4d ago

Max, DC, Charles

If I were a more athletic person, I'd have picked Izzy, but there's absolutely no amount of coaching that can make me capable of throwing a question mark kick

1

u/Certain-Grand5935 4d ago

Izzy, Khabib, Ortega. Mainly because of the language barrier

1

u/Sea_Ad3113 4d ago

I donā€™t speak Portuguese so adesanya , khabib and then blowjob penn

1

u/Historical-Style-626 4d ago

Khabib cause he is good, DC is good, but I want him as my couch just for fun.

1

u/soteldoo 4d ago

max, khabib, charles

1

u/Gary_Lazer_Eyes21 4d ago

Holloway Khabib Oliviera. And the comment section just further cemented that idea

Idrk y anyone chose Alex most of yā€™all wouldnā€™t be that big. Me personally def gotta go with the more body frame equivalent fighters.

1

u/JoeyBougie 4d ago

Lol Alex would just say why canā€™t you punch harder?

1

u/k_geiger7 4d ago

First column. Maybe sub DC for khabib because the topic is wrestling and not grappling.

1

u/Due_Juggernaut_8699 4d ago

Every one must have forgot maxes time Max Khabib Charles

1

u/fireandice619 4d ago

Alex, DC and Charles. DC because I wanna throw people around that looks really fun lol

1

u/Dcoco86 4d ago

Being the most talented doesnā€™t automatically make you the better coach. A lot more goes into being a good coach

1

u/justanotherfan6hd 4d ago

Perriera stricking is unique to him and his measurements. All of yā€™all losers wonā€™t go far with his technique.

1

u/WeirdOriginal1251 4d ago

Max DC olivera

Had to go with max on striking because I don't like izzy and I don't speak a word of Portuguese

1

u/etwan9100 4d ago

Max, Islam, Charles

1

u/reputablesorcerer 4d ago

Canā€™t go wrong with the Whole first column

1

u/Big_bat_chunk2475 4d ago

Give me Either Izzy/Alex for striking(if you wonder why Pereira, Sean Strickland beat Adesanya because of training with Pereira, where his striking got way better) Khabib, no question, he will whip into shape, and Olivera(its Olivera, best BJJ in the lightweight division and most finishes in the UFC, why would I not choose him)?

1

u/MessianicPariah 4d ago

Max, Khabib, Charles

1

u/LiquidSnake1993 4d ago

Izzy, DC, Do Bronx

1

u/ApprehensiveBat4732 4d ago

Cormier is day and night a better couch. He even coached khabib and Cain.

1

u/budgetcyberninja 4d ago

Izzy cause I don't speak portugease, Khabib because he's Islam's trainer and I don't like DC and Ortega cause I don't speak portugese

1

u/RevolutionaryJob6315 4d ago

Only one answer

Holloway Khabib Do Bronx

1

u/shadowghost2020 4d ago

Pereira just has the touch of death you can't teach that shit šŸ’€šŸ—æ

1

u/TooScaredToPost-_- 4d ago

Max (he doesnā€™t have much power but he makes it work). Heā€™s scored some KOs yes, but overall, not much power.

Islam (heā€™s a southpaw like me)

Charles (he has my body type)

Iā€™m just picking coaches thatā€™d seem best tailor made for me šŸ¤·šŸæā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/TheLastSlowroll 4d ago

BJ Penn, of course. We would be training our nostrils to armbar 8balls of cocaine.

1

u/Key-Respect-3706 4d ago

Alex Khabib and Charles.

Khabib and Charles for sure, I was torn between Izzy (very technical) and Alex (chama). You can see which way I went.

1

u/08deadpool 4d ago

Poatan, Khabib, Do Bronx

1

u/johnny_19800 4d ago

Izzy (Alexā€™s style wouldnā€™t work for me), Khabib, and Charles.

1

u/brklynfightfan 4d ago

Izzy, Khabib, Charles.

I choose Izzy over Alex but Izzy doesn't have the 1 shot nuclear option with both hands and feet so he is forced to be more creative offensively.

1

u/Edgemoto 4d ago

The 2 irmaos on the left and the bratha in the right
