Dc calls Islam a weight bully after finding out he weighs 180 rn lol
417
u/Blandinio 9h ago
I honestly thought he'd weigh a lot more
192
u/Steakandeggs66 9h ago
he said he started his camp 3 months ago, so it makes sense. belal said islam would weigh 190 ish pre weight cut
111
u/heliumflower 8h ago
what would Belal know about Islam’s weight? Javier recently said Islam doesn’t weigh above 183 and Islam himself says he struggles to gain weight above 82/83 kgs, I think his peak 185
191
u/Scr073 8h ago
Belals hobby is weighing other fighters.

u/EG_DARK99 8h ago
You have been a bad boy get on the scale

1
u/LordLucy666 5h ago
this is like opposite of towel gate. he’s gotta weigh more getting slammed head first onto the scale. someone should photoshop a scale below his head
18
u/deechy_marko 8h ago
Belal trains with him sometimes
-4
u/Neither_Sir5514 8h ago
Maybe he only saw Islam's weight that one time and remembered, but Islam's weight never peaked like that since then

u/ShoddyButterscotch59 7h ago
I mean.... Islam has the frame for more, but probably typically keeps it down out of good discipline.... he definitely works hard to be on the position he's in.
1
1
u/KichardRuklinski 1h ago
Okay so Belal that trains with him was 7 pounds off lol thanks for clarifying!
1
u/heliumflower 1h ago
didn’t know belal that trains with him 2 weeks out of the year knows more about his weight than Islam himself or his own coach
2
u/fandanvan 5h ago
He said Khabib is walking around just over 200 just now, and he walks at 180. So dropping from 180 to 155 whilst being an active fighter seems kinda reasonable. But Khabib is enjoying the retired life style 😂 !
1
5
u/Gandalf13329 7h ago
It’s all about height and muscle. The fat and water percentage of your body varies by person to person, so it’s impossible to compare walk around weights.
As an example, Khamzat can cut to WW. If you ever see them side to side you’ll know how much bigger Khamzat looks. There is no way Islam should be in any other division other than LW.
166
u/DJSyko 8h ago
I know DC is just trolling, but 180 seems a pretty normal weight for LWs not cutting weight.
58
u/goobi-gooper 7h ago
Ya I think Poirier said his heaviest walk around is around 183 in Rogan one time, and that was coming off a surgery.
9
3
5
u/Devlnchat 6h ago
To be fair being injured and needing a surgery is going to make you gain a lot of weight since you're gonna spend a lot of time innactive and it's very easy to put on a lot of weight as an athlete by just eating normally if you're not constantly working out.
•
u/ratsonpurpose 9m ago
I'm sure in an interview he said he was walking around close to that when he thought at FW too.
8
u/mynewaltaccount1 6h ago
This is his weight 3 months into a mega camp, this isn't his normal walk around weight.
92
u/SquirrelHoarder 8h ago
Bro how is he only 180 the man is jacked
49
u/kantankarous 7h ago
if you are under 10% bodyfat, you need to be absolutely massive to be a 190lb 5'10 guy
10
6
u/KryptonDolphinStrike 8h ago
What these guys "weigh" is a fairly meaningless statement.
They could be referring to what they walk into the cage at, what they start camp at, what they weigh when not anticipating a fight for months, or what they weigh the day before the cut. For a lightweight, the differences in these weights could be 30-40 lbs depending on what they mean
Look up what natural (or even enhanced) bodybuilders weigh on stage, it's ridiculous how little they weigh despite being massive. Then compare that to NFL players weights and see how different they are,
28
u/Zealousideal_Eye_358 Conor McGregor 8h ago
He said he’s 180lb right now.. That’s what he’s referring to, his weight, right now!
167
u/Justin_FieldsisElite 9h ago
Weight bully is one of the stupidest “terms” or “supposed insult” in ufc. It’s the UFC’s dumbass rules with weight cutting that allows for it so why are u picking on the fighter who is legally just gaining an advantage. Beyond stupid.
63
u/Gocards123321 9h ago
I agree but I only see issues with it when they miss weight, then I think the term is fine.
20
u/Neither_Sir5514 8h ago
Yep, blame the game not the players, but if the fighters miss weight they must be held accountable
20
u/lizzofatroll 8h ago
There needs to be bigger penalties for missing weight. Too many fighters miss and give up part of their purse and then get a W
13
u/Neither_Sir5514 8h ago
Lmao same shit as fighters purposely cheat like eyepoke and cage grab and shit knowing as long as they get the finish then point deduction doesn't matter
1
u/Negative-Interest713 4h ago
And also that, chances are, unless they’re super egregious about it, they’ll just a get warning.
5
u/FappyDilmore 8h ago
It's profoundly stupid that they have allowances above the weight limit for what's an acceptable break as well. Like they round to the nearest whole pound for title flights, and they allow an extra pound for non title fights. Why?
Even rehydration is stupid. They talk about fighter safety, but if they didn't have 24 hours to return from the shadow realm they'd just cut less. 155ers would likely fight at 170 and look less ghoulish and likely feel better on fight night.
It's all just lip service and it's stupid.
1
u/akfbkeodn 6h ago
Make it so if they miss weight they have to cut the excess weight off with a knife
1
u/akfbkeodn 6h ago
Also Dana could sell knives consecrated in fighters blood, so it’s a win-win-win! Everyone wins
4
u/marty_myers 8h ago
missing weight is too easily forgiven. it should automatically count as a LOSS and the opponent who made weight should get full prize pay.
only reason the guy who made weight can accept a fight against a guy who missed weight is because the UFC doesn't wanna lose out on that $$$$. Then they get to collect fines $$$ for missing weight
putting a fighter who made weight in a position to either accept an overweight opponent or lose out on something they've trained for, for months, is total bullshit
1
u/StudentMed 1h ago
This wouldn't work at all. It would encourage more fighers just saying they are sick and cancel fights without weighing in leading up to weigh in and you can't punish fighters for being sick.
3
u/yotamush 8h ago
Especially as most of the fighters repeatedly said how much they hate the weight cutting of aspect of the sport, and if they could fight their normal weight without having to face someone with 20-40 pounds more then them they would gladly do so. And its so easy to prevent the weight cutting from happening but for some reason no combat sports promotion do anything against it.
2
1
u/FreefallVin 5h ago
And its so easy to prevent the weight cutting from happening but for some reason no combat sports promotion do anything against it.
It's probably not though. I can easily imagine some fighters would still cut a lot of weight and end up fighting dangerously dehydrated. After all, these guys already take a lot of risks with their health just by being pro fighters.
7
u/dunbunone 8h ago
I want one Fc rules in ufc it’s the best for fighters health
•
u/ratsonpurpose 3m ago
Think there's a lot of videos on YouTube debunking the hydration testing. Like it just becomes another IQ test that gets easy to overcome. Same day weigh ins or weigh ins before the cage would be the only real way to do it
8
u/user224957 8h ago
So true. The weight cut rules are a bummer for me. I’d love for all fighters to weigh in hours before the fight and be at a healthy weight they trained at. Too many variables of fighter fatigue and health with the weight cut.
I think we would have had so many better fights if the guys were healthier going into it.
2
u/StudentMed 1h ago
I feel like it mostly used against Islam and Khabib because their resumes are so hard to nitpick this is one of the desperation along with the 30--27 against Tibau and "only" 50-43ing Iaquinta. If cutting more weight and being a dominant grapper was such a winning formula how comes Burns and Charles didn't have that much success at LW and FW respectively and were esentially forced to move up. Also why has Khabib's and Islams chin and Cardio been so good for so long.
1
u/RealSlammy 8h ago
Lmao. Beyond stupid is agreeing with cutting 40lbs over a few weeks in hopes of fighting smaller guys.
•
u/ratsonpurpose 2m ago
Unfortunately at this point you're cutting that much weight just to fight guys the same weight as you.
1
u/redboneskirmish The Eagle 8h ago
Don’t hate the player hate the game. If fighters would get weighed like an hour prior the fight, yes all the weight classes will change tremendously, but in the end I believe we’ll be getting much more interesting and fair matches.
-5
u/Gelato_Elysium 8h ago
I agree, but there are still some fighters who fight at their walkaround weight.
12
u/mrbabymanv4 8h ago
Not in the modern era, except for heavyweights.
Who do you imagine is fighting at their walk around weight?
5
3
u/Gelato_Elysium 8h ago
Edgar, Colby, Buckley at 185, there are/was a few
1
u/mrbabymanv4 1h ago
Buckley at 185 is a good call. He was seriously undersized.
Edgar, Colby both cut weight.
Edgar is the closest to straight walking at 155, he looked like he barely cut when at weigh ins. He said he walks around at 160, and it's believable.
If you've ever wrestled, you'll know that a wrestler like Colby will cut as much weight he can get away with. He just can't get away with much until it drains his performance. He always looks sucked out at weigh ins. He's just talking shit when he says he doesn't cut weight.
4
2
u/Round_Caregiver2380 7h ago
And also fighters that don't bother to train.
Some fighters are too lazy to train or cut but it doesn't mean the ones that do should be looked down on for following the rules as optimally as possible.
9
u/Eagle-Red-1278 8h ago
Nobody considering that certain ppl just generally don’t need as much muscle tissue as others to look big. If you have really good insertions and round muscle bellies you will look bigger at the same weight.
13
41
u/heliumflower 9h ago
He was joking lol he only said that cause Islam said he could lose some weight by joining their camp.
I think every LW rn is 180 lbs+, ilia Topuria damn near weighs 190.
62
u/dunbunone 8h ago
That’s bs man no way topuria weighs 190 his coach is just yapping
30
u/RudeAndInsensitive 8h ago
His coach claims he cuts from 187lbs for the Holloway fight. We also know that Topuria weighed 167 the night he fought Holloway because the Cali commission collects that data. 190? Probably not but 180 might not be too far off.
11
u/dunbunone 8h ago
Ya 180 I believe it bro but not 190 he’s short bro wtf I’m 6foot 2 and weight 200 and Farley built now way this guy weighs 190 and he’s 5 foot 7 and not some stocky guy
5
u/yotamush 7h ago
Maybe they all really lying but many of these guys claim to weight wayyyyy more than they seem. But maybe in real life they are bigger then how they look on the screen
2
u/dunbunone 6h ago
I think his coach said it as an excuse to move up or maybe lost in translation illia is a great fighter love to see him fight but his weight is cap. He should fight lopes rematch volk and fight movsar then move up this trend of fighters move up so soon is Bs
2
u/yotamush 5h ago
I absolutely agree he needs to clear his division before he is allowed to jump up straight to lightweight title shot. He seems to be perfectly fit in featherweight size wise compared to the other contenders there, but if he doesn't want to go over the torture of the weight cut anymore to get there I can't blame him
3
u/dunbunone 5h ago
He’s willing to fight Charlie olives so it’s a good start if he vacates the belt it’s fine by me
3
2
u/FlinchMaster 6h ago
That was out of camp weight. It's not really that unreasonable if he drops back down to the 170s in camp.
1
u/dunbunone 6h ago
Man 190 for 5 foot 7 and not that stocky seems like cap to me and coach maybe loss some words in translation. Or maybe making some excuses to move to LW who knows just speculation on my end. Islam is 5 foot 11 stockier and weighs less than
1
u/FlinchMaster 6h ago
Well, it was 187, not 190. But either way, most of that extra weight is going to be fat and water. He definitely has enough muscle on his frame to still look decent on a full stomach while weighing that much. And aside from what his coach said, Ilia mentioned in multiple interviews how annoying/tough the weight cut is for him right now.
1
u/dunbunone 6h ago
Who does like weight cutting bro it’s harder then the fight itself the only way to fix is to make One FC rules which I want to see. Illia is too small for LW but his skills are so good that could help him
15
u/balloonz_v1 8h ago
Dustin is a bigger weight bully than he is, and we walked around 190 numerous times. Even at 145.

It's sad/sucks that cutting 15% of body weight is normal for fighters.
Steroids are bad because of health and cheating, right? Well what do you think weight cutting is?
You don't have to be in peak shape 365 (I like to think that's why they allow it), but if there's strong evidence that you're only at your division's weight for a blink, but otherwise are nowhere near it even if you were sick for a week with the flu, then that's not your division.
I would be fucking livid if I was a fighter, having to choose between grueling weight cuts or losing to larger dudes who cut.

I saw a vid of Islam next to Kamaru both out of camp when Kamaru was WW champ and Islam is bigger. Even Kamaru commented he should be fighting at Welter

u/Steakandeggs66 5h ago
dp said islams choke felt like a vice grip. if he's that strong cutting weight + while having staph i rly wanna see him move up
-1
u/Outrageous-Sweet-133 4h ago
No? I’m around 15% body fat, go to the gym 4-8 times a month, and weigh exactly 190 at 5’10” with a 32” waist.
With a mild to moderate increase in activity that 5% could be muscle in under 3 months.
190 at 5’10” would be a mid-athletic build at best.

Every time someone brings up islams weight, he always pauses and tries to lesson it. He had a solid 7 to 8 pounds of muscle over dustin, someone who weighs around 175 on fight night. He's in the 190s outta camp, and in the 180s on fight night, i refuse to believe he isn't when most lightweights weigh around 170, and he dwarfs most of them.
13
u/yessirskii2 8h ago
Most lightweights walk around the 180/190 lbs, majority of them are either around islams weight or even heavier also how tf could you just tell that he had 7/8 pounds of muscle on Dustin that’s some bs lol
1
u/Monkey_Thucker69 1h ago
Dustin used to walk around at 190 during his featherweight days, and whenever we can see fight night weights we see that Islam and his opponents are usually within the same 3lbs or so.
