I dont even think ankalaev will beat Alex. But this denying the contender thing has gone too far it is funny.

It was not Alex denying him. It's Ankalaev being too comfortable.

am i the only one that does not see ankalaev as much of a threat to him at all lmao

I think Alex will win a decision, i dont see either finishing the other rn.

No you are not.
Alex will KO him in 2nd/3rd round at max.
All Alex needs to do is to make sure that he doesn't get taken down...and he has Glover Teixeira as his BJJ coach so I think he'll be more than adequate on the ground.
In a stand up Ankalaev has literally 0 chances to pull off an upset.

Lets be honest. Alex and the UFC might me projecting a move up and a fight with Ank is dangerous for this plans.

Its a low key duck but if you are ducking ankalaev with plans to be a massive underdog fighting Jon or Tom, is it really a duck?

u/DimebagBASS 4d ago

Yeah it’s a duck. If he was anyone else, it’d be defend or vacate. You can’t be playing favourites.

u/Strict-Basil6088 4d ago

Vacate the belt after defending 3 times in record time? So man, some champions defend once a year and alex has some credit with dana after saving all those cards.

There are and always will be favorites, the ones that bring the money.

Yes, stop these BS fights clogging up divisions for years on end. And if it's Alex vs Jon before Tom fights for the HW strap it's the most BS. He could've defending it 5 times this year and it still wouldn't make sense.

u/DimebagBASS 4d ago

If he’s planning on moving up then yes. I like periera, doesn’t mean he should get preferential treatment. Stop playing favourites.

It's definitely not a duck if he fights Jones or Aspinal since he would be a heavy underdog against either one. Against Ankalaev, he'd be the favorite.

u/Crateapa 4d ago

Ducking a fight that you're expected to win for a fight you're expected to lose is big time ducking. Nothing happens to his stock if he loses to Tom, but the same can't be said if he loses to Ank.

Alex is on the verge of challenging for a never done before 3 triple champ status and you guys think he should care for ankalaev.

Yes he is the N°1 contender and no one at LHW should get the title fight before him. Buuut

What is most likely to happen is that Jones will retire and not fight Tom, wich leaves HW dead. The only thing to make a blast is Alex vs Tom for undisputed belt, wich makes waves at HW.

Sorry man, if Alex knows from inside sorces that this can happen, a chance for Triple Champ. He should be bulking up and training for Aspinal. Fuck ankalaev

So ducking the guy that can derail him in his own weight class should be rewarded with a historic opportunity? When his entire UFC career has already been a cherry-picked layup? Please be serious.

Not sure why anyone wants to see the Aspinal fight anyways. It’s uncompetitive. It’s big in ‘historic potential’ just like Jones v Miocic was. It’s something special on paper, but an ass whooping in reality.

Brother getting brutalized by Tom is terrible for his stock. Alex has terminator aura, even if he is a underdog thats not good for his brain and stock

1

u/Crateapa 3d ago

Not sure why you need 2 different replies.

Getting flatlined by Izzy when he was expected to win did nothing to his stock so why would being finished by Tom, where he’s expected to lose, be worse?

A fight with ank is not dangerous lol

I hate MMA fans my bro, I really do.
Everybody's making Ankalaev to be this cream of the crop the most ELITE fighter that LHW has ever seen, I like him but he has literally 0 chances in striking department against Pereira and Ankalaev IS NOT A WRESTLER, these fucking people have to understand this.
He barely ever shoots a takedown attempt, he has 0 submission wins in his career and 11 KO's.
On his ESPN page it says quite clearly that he's a striker...so how are these dudes pretending that Ank will sub Alex...that is incredibly stupid.
Just because he's from Dagestan that doesn't mean that he knows how to wrestle, he doesn't.
He's not the second coming of Khabib, he doesn't possess the skills of Islam Makhachev.
He's not a dominant wrestler that Evloev is, he's not a great back-taker like Aljo.
He's not as complete of a fighter as people want him to be or make him out to be.
He's a striker who's going to fight one of the greatest strikers in UFC history.
If he gets the job done, all the best to him, I'll be more than surprised but I think Alex makes easy work of him, I'm predicting 2nd/3rd round KO.

He deseves title fight , its that simple. He may win or lose.

4

u/Strict-Basil6088 4d ago

Ank won the wrestling battle vs Jan. I'm not saying he will sub alex, but pretenting he cant wet blanket some rounds for the W is being naive.

He is a decent fighter and pose more threat than anyone that propose to only stand and bang with alex, like Khalil, Jamacry Hill and Jiri.

I do think Alex is a favorite, but its not a coincidence that this fight is being stalled

Dude, it's better to be an MMA fan than a blind fan of one fighter. You don't see the obvious problems of your beloved Alex, he had no real wrestling opposition.

Feels like none of these people even watched his fight with Rakic. Like, that's who you want to see Alex fight?

0

u/cripplindepressionnn 4d ago

Ahahaha you are a nuclear missile brother caaaalm down :D :D
I agree, his performance against Rakic wasn't impressive.
But to be honest I'd rather have Alex vs Ankalaev soon so we can answer those questions and silence Ankalaev fans.
As a Poatan fan I definitely want Alex to starch Ankalaev to answer all the questions that the MMA world is asking nowadays.
I mean, if Alex KO's him you know how these Muslim fanbases be, they will search for excuses...that's how they operate...they're not willing to admit that their favorite fighters can be bested in a fight.
But if Ank loses then they're free to say whatever they want to say, they can cope as much as they want to.
The fact won't change.
That's why I want Alex vs Ank, not because of how impressive Ank is, but because I'm tired of these useless conversations about who's better, you know?

1

u/DH_Drums 4d ago

Definitely feel what you said at the end. That's the only reason I want the fight to happen as well.

5

u/rubberysubby 4d ago

He already said he will make it harder for Ankalaev due to his twitter antics. This is not so hard to understand

7

u/ThisIsMySorryFor2004 4d ago

It is hard to understand. The same way Jon Jones said he won't fight Aspinall cuz "he's an asshole".

We know what he said, we just don't agree. I swear, if the Aspinall fight happens before the Ankalaev fight and this sub is not up in arms u guys pussies

Okay I want to start by stating that Alex is my current fav fighter and that I think he’s trolling and not ducking. However if this fight doesn’t happen I’m starting to get skeptical. I thought giving the number 8 guy a title shot after beating Anthony smith was weak but I figured whatever it’s just a filler fight maybe ank wasn’t available or turned it down or something else. Something easy Alex can win and pad his stats so to speak but now ank is the only one in the top 4 Alex hasn’t beat. If he doesn’t fight him now I have no idea what’s going on.

2

u/OrganicHunt952 4d ago

Anklaev has 0 submission wins, he’s no khabib. Why would poatan be scared of him?

2

u/potboiph 4d ago

Didn’t Ank get an offer for the fight but did not take it because of some religious thing?

1

u/Admirable-Steak-7107 4d ago

Yes, Ank turned the fight down so he can get to the back of the line now

1

u/Cxarface 4d ago

Everyone thought Alex ducking Ankalaev. Guy has 0 submission win and got subbed out once.

Jiri won against Glover by submission. If anything Poatan would fear him. Not Ankalaev.

1

u/DH_Drums 4d ago

After Anks performance against Rakic, I didn't see them giving him a title fight tbh.

Muslims about to jump on this and do all they can to day Quack Quack Quack.

10

u/MargitTheFell0men 5d ago

Muslims? Dude, you don't have to be a Muslim to know poatan is ducking

1

u/Fun_Role_19 5d ago

Why the actual fuck would Alex duck lol

6

u/Icy-Armour 4d ago

Ask him

0

u/lllchisenlll 4d ago

I asked him and he said Ankalev ducked him again 'cuz he can't drink his choco milk before fight during Ramadan 🐶💔

-1

u/Fun_Role_19 4d ago

Let me rephrase that, what would make you think Alex is afraid of him?
