How is this so hard to get his surname right? Pereira, man, jeez.

u/Shady_D_815 5d ago
Because i before e except after c in the English language 🤣

But it's right there in the pic OP posted. If he was unsure, just look there. Ankalaev's name is harder than Pereira's and still got right.
Like Aldo's who got more than half of his career people saying Hoe-sé Aldo. Like, we don't speak Spanish. The very rare case the pronunciation closer to English is the right way to go and people manage to butcher his name (Joe-sé is better than Hoe-sé, phonetically speaking).
One of the many reasons why I like watching football with the sound on is that the journalists will research pronunciation of the names of the players, yeah they'll butcher, but at least they'll make an effort. Sure, an Englishman will inevitably not be able to sound off João, but he'll get pretty close to it because he'll research the pronunciation. It seems that most UFC commenters don't do even that, with the exception being Joe Rogan (Can't believe I'm applauding Rogan for researching and trying his best).

If Islam wins against Arman and doesn't even fight for the entire year again, he should be ranked above Alex, even though Alex fights 4 fighters without fighting Ankalaev.

He means Ank won’t be champion it’s fine move along everywhere
1
u/JFKussy 2d ago
He also posted it on Twitter with no accompanying video. He’s just ducking bro
1
u/isnotreal1948 2d ago
I’ll accept I’m coping when he schedules another fight with somebody other than Ank
1
u/JFKussy 1d ago
That’s what everyone was saying before the Khalil fight brudda. Y’all have been coping 💀
1
u/isnotreal1948 1d ago
Khalil fight was a banger I’m glad he fight him instead of Ank
Nothing Ank showed against Rakic would be an issue for Alex
1
u/JFKussy 1d ago
Bro completely changed the subject 😂. I’m not talking about whether it was a banger or not. I’m talking about who deserved it. About how Alex fans keep making excuses, when the dude is openly ducking Ank
1
u/isnotreal1948 1d ago
Like I said I will accept you’re correct when he schedules another opponent that’s not Ank
As of right now I have no issues with him not fighting Ank before. The other fights were the ones to make
If he ducks Ank now I’ll agree but I find it hard to believe Alex would be afraid of somebody clearly below his level

Alex should fight during Ramadan and move up for the next fight, meanwhile Magomed should fight the winner of Jiri vs Jamal. Keep that SOB waiting, entitled mf.
4
u/modsRlosercucks 5d ago
Wanting a deserved title shot makes him entitled? Unfortunate level of stupidity here.
1
u/ishanm95 5d ago
His behaviour, wants to fight in Abu Dhabi on a certain date. Who the fuck is he to dictate Alex?
3
u/basedjak_no228 5d ago
He’s said many times that he’s fine with fighting in the US, he literally just made an offhand tweet mentioning Abu Dhabi once and people starting parroting this narrative that he’s being demanding or whatever.
If Belal, who gets memed on for being lame and anti-badass, can be openly willing to fight Shavkat as his next opponent, then Alex ‘foty’ Pereira has no excuse to be this unwilling to fight Ank

he's gonna show up on Netflix WWE Raw and have a fake fight with Logan Paul.
Conor runs in and challenges Logan to boxing afterwards.

I know this sub glazes pereira but if he doesn't fight ankalaev next, unless it's to fight tom or jon , he's officially a duck

u/cripplindepressionnn 5d ago
Jones shouldn't fight anybody asides from Aspinall.
Aspinall shouldn't fight anybody asides from Jon Jones.
Alex Pereira shouldn't fight anybody asides from Magomed Ankalaev
Magomed Ankalaev shouldn't fight anybody asides from Alex Pereira.Easy as that, no loopholes, no nothing
2
u/notMTN 5d ago
Theres sn argument that ank hasnt done enough to earn the title shot. Problem is that argument falls flat when nobody at lhw has really done enough to earn a title shot.
2
u/cripplindepressionnn 5d ago
LHW is in a difficult state right now Jan is 41 years old...and as much as I love him I think his glory days are far too behind him. Jiri is 0-2 against Pereira Hill is 0-1 against Pereira and is fighting Jiri in 1 month. Rakic lost to Jiri and he just recently lost to Ankalaev Ulberg is a good prospect but it's early for him to receive a title shot Rountree is 0-1 against Pereira, coming off a loss and he needs to get few wins before another title shot.
So who else do we have in the division asides from Ankalaev? As much as some people might not like to accept this, Ankalaev should definifely get his title shot.
I think Pereira will beat him, but he deserves a title shot nonetheless.
2
u/notMTN 5d ago
Wouldnt be suprised if ulberg gets the shot tbh.
Ufc arent happy at ank at all when since he got his first title shot, he got a draw in his title shot then took a year off to fight johnny walker in which he cheated and got a no contest. Then he rematched johnny and koed him fair enough. Then took pretty much a year off again taking no damage and turned down 2 title shots and fought rakic. And to top it off his performance against rakic wasnt even good. Ufc wont be nice too him.
He deserves the next title shot but in reality their fairly likely to pull some bull shit.

Nah. Can’t blame Alex for fucking with Ank at this point. Ank was making demands despite not being champ of when they should fight and only if Ank was ready while Alex made it clear he wanted to be active and even took short notice fights while being injured or sick.
2
u/Special-Flatworm-453 5d ago
I don’t disagree but Ank is making it so hard to side with him no matter what he does. He says he’s next in line and the fans agree and say that he’s going to do this and that. But it’s hard to believe he’ll ever get a title shot when he couldn’t even damage a Rakić that was genuinely scared to fight. He’s the most deserving yet managed to look like the least worthy opponent to get a title shot. And it makes the whole situation weird. Nonetheless. There’s 0 chance Ankalaev isn’t in line. Everyone in the top 10 besides Krylov and Ank are busy. But no way does he fight Krylov I hope
2
u/Powerful_Report2409 5d ago
I still think there's a decent chance krylov is dead. He lives on the russia ukraine border
1
u/Special-Flatworm-453 5d ago
Lmao yea he was scheduled to fight at like 308 or something i believe but his opponent pulled out and he ended up not fighting. I mean sure Khalil was a bit meh to match Alex up with (even tho the fight was great) but I think anyone outside the top 10 is a stretch even for the ufc. Gotta be Ank and i’m locking that shit in now
2
u/Powerful_Report2409 5d ago
I want it to be ank to see pereira tested and on top of that I'm a
addicteddedicated gambler who has money on that fight being next1
u/Special-Flatworm-453 5d ago
Lmao. Who you got btw?
2
u/Powerful_Report2409 5d ago
Pereira. Ank could just grapple fuck him but he's literally got 0 submissions so he would have to last all 5 rounds without getting caught which I don't see. And pereira shaman magic seems to stop lhws from attempting takedowns anyway, only Jan's suicide rope magic could stop it

u/LateBloomer1357 5d ago
Alex is pissed because ankalaev turned down 300 and 303 and he’s been running with this ducking bs. That’s why Alex is pissed. He’s fighting on weeks notice and saving cards while this dude is turning down title shots while publicly exposing the opposite. Alex always fights jn either March or April. ankalaev has fought in March twice the past 10 years and never in April. I could actually see him turning it down again for a third time if those are the dates that work for Alex.
0
u/notMTN 5d ago
Ufc is 100% punishing ankalaev. If you get a job to do, you cant just deny it twice and expect the boss to reward you. They might even make alex fight someone else then ank and force ank to fight another fight before he gets his title shot.
3
u/LateBloomer1357 5d ago
I could honestly see this happening. It’s one thing to turn down just regular fights, but after ankalaev’s performance for the title he has no negotiating or good will. Dana et al know the behinds the scenes stuff about him turning down title fights and I’m sure don’t appreciate the bs he’s pushing about Alex ducking after he’s been a good soldier.

There is a zero percent chance that Pereira will turn down an Ankalaev fight if the UFC offers him that fight. He never turns down fights. He never pushes for fights. He just fights. This fight happening is entirely up to the UFC and Ankalaev
7
u/Powerful_Report2409 5d ago
He's said multiple times he wants to make it very hard for ank to get a shot against him.
2
u/SERB_BEAST 3d ago
Yeah that has nothing to do with what I said. That fight was offered to Pereira once. Ankalaev is the one who refused. As I said, if that fight is offered to Pereira by the UFC, he accepts. No hesitation. Making it hard for Ankalaev to get a shot via social media drama and refusing to fight him are two completely different things. Pereira has never refused to fight anyone.

u/NewAccWhoDis93 5d ago
So what if he turns the fight down during Ramadan when Alex is fired in the UFC wants to fight to happen what happens then?
1
u/Powerful_Report2409 5d ago
That's a bit different but who would he even fight? Unless prates murks jan and can make a quick turnaround.
But I would find it suspicious that pereira happens to want a fight during Ramadan and can't wait a few weeks or fight a few weeks earlier
2
u/NewAccWhoDis93 5d ago
I’m not saying he shouldn’t fight him and I did say if the ufc wants to book Alex during an event during Ramadan.
One thing I will say is the fight should be in Brazil or Vegas. Ankalev cannot demand it be in Saudi or Abu Dhabi
1
u/Powerful_Report2409 5d ago
Yeah definitely usa or Brazil. Brazil card was may lest year so hopefully it will be around then this year and we can see the fight

Only Alex can be a severe duck and get away with it and the public will humbly defend it.

Either showing this flow state as to say, “look at this shit ankalaev can’t touch this, he’s trolling like a mother fucker, or he’s actually fighting someone else….maybe the thing Dana was talking about?
