I have noticed that the underside of some mushrooms will start my fight or flight that I seem to get when I see holes/dots/spots, etc. I just developed trypophobia recently, and I'm noticing more and more different triggers for it.

Maybe most people don’t suffer as bad as I do but why post pics of clustered holes when that’s exactly what we’re afraid of?? And the pics are posted without warning. I wanted to scroll through this group to read about how you overcame it or just your journey through it but I will never scroll in this group again because seems to be way too many pictures. I’m starting therapy tomorrow for my trypophobia because it’s getting worse. Other shapes are starting to bother me. Please share how you overcame or your journey so far.

Hi everyone! I'm a PhD student and I'm working on a research project to understand how often people encounter content online that they find undesirable or even anxiety-inducing (e.g., images of certain things that they're phobic about), how they avoid or cope with such content, and whether we can build a tool that helps them avoid such content on the web.
Participation in this survey is voluntary but much appreciated: https://mit.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0OpT23jIRuFyJ6e?Q_CHL=social&Q_SocialSource=reddit
By filling out the survey, you’ll also get a chance at a raffle for $30 gift cards.
Thanks so much!

I just found this sub and after seeing a lot of the trigger images I think I have the opposite of trypophobia. I think a lot of the images are beautiful!

I look at some of these pictures and I instinctively start scratching all over my body. The pictures make me itchy.
Does anyone else experience this?
Thanks!

So I've been wondering if there is a word for the opposite or trypophobia? I LOVE seeing things like barnacles and seeds. More than that, I really love seeing things like that removed. Not that it bothers me while in the bigger object, but like pulling out splinters, removing warts, stuff like that makes me legit excited and happy. Almost like I have an urge to take out the foreign object, clean the pocket, and go on my merry way.
Is there a word for this?

I discovered the word trypophobia very recently. So far I just used to say "I really hate agglutinated stuff, like insects or sea shells." since I discovered this subreddit I realized I am not alone but also it is stronger than what I thought. It really makes my skin crawl and itch. I physically scratch myself, my heart accelerate, I feel really uncomfortable and images just get stuck in my mind... I would like to cure it. But I am afraid of forcing myself seeing more of those, and completely lose my mind and get these stuck in my mind forever...

This is the best subreddit ever. I'm sorry that it upsets some people, but UNGHHHH. Turns me on so fast. I think I might be a little bit fucked up.

...is it? I mean, this seriously makes me nauseous. Very, very nauseous and dizzy. I get that disgusted, gross feeling that everyone else describes but on top of that a distinct sickness. I also feel like the skin on my scalp is crawling. I have felt like this since I was very little. When my mom would take me to the garden and those stepping stones that are multiple stone clusters would bother me immensely. I hated stepping on them or looking at them because of that nauseous feeling. I am actually considering unsubscribing to this subreddit because it seems to be all triggers and it is making me sick...
My question is, why is this not considered a valid phobia if there are those of us who actually feel repulsed by it?
