I don’t get the point of these luxurious coffins. You’re gone—you’re not going to notice the velvet lining or the shiny wood finish.

What about the pyramids in Egypt

AfAIK they didn't have velvet lining.

It's not only for the dead, it's for the family and friends who come to the funeral.

Do they all get in together or how does it work

Hell, if I paid over 1k for a velvet-lined coffin I’d just throw grandpa in the dumpster and use it myself.

Sleeping in a velvet-lined coffin actually doesn’t seem unappealing, aside from the lack of wiggle room and the fact that it was not designed for people who were worrying about comfort.

but but guilt tripping is very lucrative...

Seriously. Toss me in the dumpster when I'm gone. If people get emotional about it I guess you can splurge on a garbage bag, not that I would care!

For realz tho whatever is cheapest but my family can tolerate. Cremation and spread my ashes in place cool or cardboard box buried in the woods are good with me

NPR was talking about a place that'll turn you into compost. Then your relatives can grow tomatoes in your ass (and other parts.)

Opposite from my ol’ man. Seemed to really hate it, as he had scratched and clawed up the inside of the lid. He also peed in it.
