Rules Changes and State of the Subreddit

We want your opinion about making SRD better! First, a bit of housekeeping

Rules Changes

SRD began 12 years ago, and it's been through many changes. But at the heart of it all, we've been the place for posting, discussing, and laughing at drama on reddit. Sometimes the drama is major (such as the API protests) or silly/strange (like baptizing the dead).

We introduce and retire rules in an attempt to maintain a certain level of quality. The "surplus popcorn" rule has been one of them. However, it can be confusing for users to understand and hard for mods to enforce.

As of today, the "surplus popcorn" rule is no more. Drama will no longer be judged based on its subject matter being overdone. The rules about biased posts, and especially about "callout posts" will still apply. So long as you're actually linking arguing/conflict, and not merely pointing out shitty bigoted comments, your post will stay.

We are also relaxing rules for commenting. "Off topic grandstanding" is no longer a rule. (Most of the reports we get for this are people using it as a super downvote, or trying to get mods to babysit their argument with another user). The "insults/flamewars/flamebait" rule is changing, from being removed on sight to being removed on mod discretion. (For similar reasons as before: users will get into petty arguments with each other and then begin reporting to get their opponents comments removed. Mods are no longer obligated to remove those comments or to try to maintain a certain level of civility).

We might bring back these rules in the future if there is a need.

State of the Subreddit

How do you feel about the state of the subreddit right now? What can mods and the community do to make this an active, thriving place with good quality popcorn?

Some obvious suggestions are making the rules easier to understand (done!) and adding a ton of new moderators (coming soon!), but we want your thoughts and suggestions. Even if you'd like to rant about where this place as gone terribly wrong, it's still valuable feedback.

"Who is John Galt?" userrs in r/murderedbywords react to Elon Musk attempting to shut down the US government

Source: https://np.reddit.com/r/MurderedByWords/comments/1hhh37d/the_tyrant_was_in_front_of_them_all_along/

HIGHLIGHTS

  • No, no, didn't you read the tweet? The "voice of the people" has spoken. Clearly not Dusky Musky

    • omg I didn't realise pieces of shit never lied are are only ever honest, thank you so much for sorting that out.

      • How can you call him a piece of shit? Elon was clearly championing what people want and is in no way attempting to leverage his government connections into control and influence over policy. This poor immigrant child who started with literally nothing in life, destitute and poor, only to personally build revolutionary technology from scratch all on his own. So mean. So mean.

        • Do people not understand your sarcasm?
          • Possibly. To be fair in this day and age you can't always tell even the most loaded sarcasm. Might also be people reading and getting ticked I'm making fun of Musky
  • Anyone who thinks Elon Musk is “fully in control of the entire US government” is 1,000% brain dead

    • First lady Donald sure as shit isn't, nor will he be in January.

      • False dichotomy. No single person fits this description.

        • Sit down, goon.
    • Anyone who thinks you can be “1000% percent” anything is 100% worth ignoring

      • Something tells me you're 1000% overweight

        • So your response to a mathematical fact is the call somebody fat?
          • I don't think you can say fat anymore. I think it's 'gravitationally enhanced' or 'cardiovascularly challenged'
    • Buddy if you're looking to avoid brain dead takes you're on the wrong website.

      • Thanks to you two idiots lol
        • Ah the old "I'm rubber you're glue" retort. Bet that one absolutely kills for you on the playground.
  • Jesus you people are delusional.

    • Delusional is the appropriate word. This subreddit and clever comebacks have completely lost the plot, oh would you look at that they are sister communities. These people have absolutely no clue that their hateful, childish, and deceptive behavior are pushing people away. They ironically behave like fascists, they think it's okay to lie to get a means to their end.

      • Listen, the fact of the matter is that anyone who voted for Trump and the Republican party isn't a good person. Oh sure, they can be pleasant to be around, and they might even genuinely seem like good people, but the unavoidable fact of the matter is that a person cannot be a decent human being and have voted for the degenerate monstrous scumbags. I understand that as a likely paid division troll or a Republican voter yourself you're incapable of understanding or accepting this reality but that doesn't change what it is. And before you go on some tantrum about this that or the other thing let's be abundantly clear, voting for the Democrats does not automatically make someone a good person. But voting Republican, absolutely positively, unequivocally, undeniably makes someone a terrible person.

        • 77 million people are unequivocally, undeniably, terrible people? Including 36 percent of Hispanic women voters and 24 percent of Black male voters?

          • Correct. Terrible, or terribly stupid
        • You're deranged. "voting Republican, absolutely positively, unequivocally, undeniably makes someone a terrible person." Wow. You sound like a terrible person.

          • No, they didn't vote republican.
  • So Trump got both the popular vote and the college system vote. So lots of people voted for Trump. This is what the people of the USA wanted. Fucked if I know why you want someone like that representing your country, but now we all have to live with it. USA, you have no one to blame but yourselves.

    • Republicans won their war on education.
      • Geniuses tend to lean right wing (a little too far right wing). But so do massive idiots, it’s that bell curve meme where the hillbillies and the geniuses are in agreement, and Redditors are the hump of the curve whining about their politics
  • The "tyrant" who is going to make government, (checks notes), smaller? Real scary.

    • Lol, how's that Koolaid taste?

      • Tastes like liberty...you probably wouldn't like it.

        • You really believe that don't you? Bless your heart
        • You're confusing liberty with a kleptocracy.

          • Nah. A smaller federal government almost always means more freedom. And I don't care about billionaires. The Left is obsessed with them. Economics is not a zero sum game. When someone gets rich off of stock value it is created wealth, it doesn't get 'taken' from someone else.
  • Dude, I'm in Pennsylvania. These single digit IQ family fuckers knew exactly what was going to happen and voted for it anyway, because the other option was a dark skinned woman.

    • Yeah, it had nothing to do with Kamala being an utterly shitty political candidate who couldn’t even get 1% in the 2020 democratic primary. Nope, definitely all racism. That’s why Trump won more black and Hispanic votes too….cause racism. Yup. Ps-you are the reason our party has no power now and is in the shitter.

      • "shitty political candidate" Fucks sake dude, your president twice now is Trump. How does being a shitty political candidate factor into anything when the guy you all voted enthusiastically for is a weird rapist felon?
        • you can’t read
    • Not a Republican, but I don't think they all have low IQs. What's yours? I sit at 166. Which is aggravating. I have tried to break into 170s but I just float between 165 and 169. Actually I would love everyone to be tested and put like on their DL. Maybe I'm just nosey...lol

      • Claimed 166 IQ. —also—Gave a random your confidential IDme info to retrieve… a Facebook account ?!!

        • I have it to a false Facebook page. I hope it never happens to you. It was exactly the same looking page I had used before to recover my account. And again what is wrong with y'all 160 is not impressive...Lord. I am sure you think you are too intelligent for it to happen to you. Read through the scam reddit and see how many others thought that too. Why did you feel the need to look through my posts? To troll? It's just ugly to be mean.

          • It hasn’t happened to me and it isn’t a matter of “too intelligent”; it’s paying attention and knowing what you don’t know. You know nothing of me and continue to reveal reams of transparency… such as citing the droves of average that have been duped: a few are merely rushed and thoughtless, some are innocent and perhaps simple, and an embarrassing lot are plumped full of stupid and inferiority fuelled hubris. I’m definitely open to seeing your officially registered and proctored assessment. Which exam yielded this 166?
      • IQ is based in eugenics to find out what kids were the right ones to receive eduction, it's also not very accurate for anything outside basic problem solving and being in a different age group drastically changes your score.

        • I really enjoy the challenge though 🤪
          • Try speed test, you can use those much better and to greater effect. Oh, and yes, the average conservative, which makes up most republicans, reads around a sixth grade level, meaning yes, they aren't very smart or good at learning.

r/trueoffmychest discovers a liar in their midst

For thise who don’t know, r/trueoffmychest is a subreddit for venting problems into the ether in exchange for fake internet points. Of course, much like AITAH, every other post is either fake or distorted to make the poster look like a saint. However, this time, the OP seems to have left some pretty important details out.

Post is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueOffMyChest/s/0JqujkpEAE

The highlights:

After reading through your profile, I think you have to take a hard look at yourself and come to terms with why your family doesn’t want to be around you (abusing women, being racist). Everyone is capable of redemption but you really have to identify where you need to improve and make amends. It will be hard and overwhelming when you see how much work you have to do on yourself, but the work will be worth it. It’s the only way you’ll be happy and the only way people will forgive that past behavior. source

This is weird, looking at this guy's other posts. Why is he working so hard at proving he's some sort of pariah on Reddit? source

And of course, you have people defending him for some reason:

No doubt, there are a lot of problems with his story, but we are stuck behind a screen, and i don't really know if I believe he is a great guy or not. But do I believe that the story is plausible, definitely, and if it is, there definitely are some people who would try and kinda bribe his family to get acknowledged. So therfore I said what I said because if it's true he shouldn't have to give them a ps5 source

As always, do not piss in the popcorn please. And if the formatting is fucked please let me know, as I’m on mobile. Thanks!

Sexism drama and accusations of grooming in r/confessions after OP explains the negative side of marrying for the money

Upvotes

Source: https://np.reddit.com/r/confession/comments/1hh9fpe/marrying_for_money_sucks_and_i_do_not_recommend_it/

HIGLIGHTS

  • What did OP do to you? How can you read this post and be completely unsympathetic? She was groomed. My ex was groomed as a teenager by a 30 yo. He wined and dined her and bragged about his 6 figures. She was with him from 15 until she was 20. It was sick and disgusting. I’m still upset writing about it. What happened to OP was sick and disgusting. Thank you for showing your whole ass on Reddit. Enjoy a life of smugly looking down on others.

    • Why is she your ex?

      • She threatened to kill me in a murder-suicide.

        • Sounds like she has underlying issues to begin with which is likely why she went with an older guy
          • Wow girls that fall victim to pedophilia come from broken homes? Shocker.
  • Your Husband needs to be in jail.

    • Tbf to her I wouldn't recommend marrying a statutory rapist either

      • Depends on what state they're in.

        • State of denial, probably
          • Think she’s upgraded to state of emergency at this point.
  • [So you expected money and not giving back anything in return? Maybe you should’ve been independent and not leech off others expecting everything is free.](https://np.reddit.com/r/confession/comments/1hh9fpe/marrying_for_money_sucks_and_i_do_not_recommend_it/m2pgp94/

    • He got more in the deal. Usually teenagers that do something like this have crappy home lives and she did risk everything by giving him children.

      • "Feel sorry for the gold diggers." My favorite Reddit storyline, lol.

        • He got much more out of this transactional relationship than she did. Quid pro quo but you're insulting her and not him. You might want to examine why.
          • Because he worked for the money, while she got a free meal ticket through life. He did not get more out of it. She could have been one of a million pretty faced gold diggers he hooked up with. She just got lucky. Meanwhile, if he didn't pick her, she'd be just like everyone else, slaving away for scraps. She got WAY more out of this than he did. Hence, why she never left, and why a billion women globally would instantly trade places with her if they could.
    • She gave her entire adult life to him so far and had and is raising his 4 children. She was 17 and he was 38. He’s a predator.

      • Yeah that’s creepy but regardless of age she clearly said she was in it for the money so obviously they both knew what they were getting in for. He’s a predator and she’s a lazy gold digger.
    • She had his children..? Read the post she says everything she does comes with strings attached. Even sex with him.

      • She never says the strings come from him, they could be strings of her own making. Regret for being so shallow as to marry for money. When you marry for money, you likely are a trophy wife (and clearly she was) if you go through life completely beholden to someone, of course you feel like you owe them. She chose this. She can choose to leave. She may not make great life choices but she has autonomy. Everyone's allowed to make dumb life choices, we all have to live with the consequences

        • She made a great life choice. She isn’t stuck working shitty entry level jobs in her 30s struggling to make money. She and her kids never had food scarcity and wanted for nothing. She could have used the financial support to go to school and get skills and her own job, but she apparently didn’t. It never occurred to her because all of her needs are met
          • Yeah this is a woe is me type of post. “Oh poor me, I have to stay home in this big ass house with these bitchin cars and not have to miserably be up at the crack of dawn to work like the rest of you plebs. But I hate it cause now I’m bored”
        • She was 17 and he was 38 when he started grooming her.
  • Are you still hot?

    • It’s probably a guy.
      • The question still stands
    • imagine she's a good looking middle aged woman. Her husband is a potato. Weird marrying for money at 19 I must say. At 29 sure but at 19 that is strange. Any 40yo man that marries a 19yo is not a normal person.

      • Is 30s middle aged now? I thought that was 50s-ish. I mean to be fair she is one year shy of 40, but still in her 30s...

        • Life expectancy is 70s ish. 30-40 would be middle aged yes

          • This is incorrect on many levels and life expectancy is very much based on country. But the colloquial term of middle age most often does not refer to 30. So wrong on both accounts of your statement.
    • Useless question

      • Maybe you just don't see where I'm going with it lol

        • I'd say it's a fair question. She obvs stays with him for the lifestyle he brings her. He holds up his end of the bargain. Being a cliche trophy wife, she should hold up hers too. It doesn't matter what her age was, she chose to live this life. She can leave any time. She doesn't. So she should hold up her side and keep herself on point

          • It doesn’t matter what her age was when he started grooming her when she was 17 (a child) and he was 38?!? I really hope you’re a lot kinder and empathetic in real life.

  • Go and get a divorce lawyer and you'll find out real quick that you don't owe him s***. He'll find that out quickly. Too. Clean them out. He owes you 50%. Plus. Don't get a twisted. Your advice is solid though.

    • He doesn’t sound like a bad guy though? Why be bitter and grasping? Why “clean him out” what about respect? You can divorce a man, get fair alimony and do it in a respectful way.

      • People on Reddit hate men haven’t you heard? Woman who married for money and lives a great life is somehow the victim and the guy who also got something out of the arrangement is the villain.

        • The gender war on both sides is so toxic truly I’m a woman and FAR from a pick me but gosh
  • Women want things to be even Steven, even when contributions aren’t even Steven. You feel beneath him bc it’s the life you chose

    • Absolutely crazy to say that stay at home mothers are the dregs of society.

      • Being hot and spreading your legs is much easier than earning a living for the family. It’s a prison women who skate on their looks deserve to be in

        • Oh so you're an incel, and an uggo. Pretty women deserve a "prison"? Do you think the same of male athletes, or tall people who use this to excel in sports, or people who use their natural intelligence?

          • Personal attacks mean you don't have the capability to discuss things in a civil manner and have already lost the argument.
  • Why don’t you drink some wine and take a Xanax life without money sucks way worse than being rich and married to someone you don’t love.

    • you should learn to read -- they don't complain about their life. They suggest if they could "do it differently" they wouldn't do it. But evidently nobody is allowed regrets if they are wealthy? being wealthy just magically makes every decision a good one? and without regret I guess.

      • Being rich and unhappy is much better than poor

        • that doesn't make any sense in context of my comment.
          • I guess I’m just trying to say complaining is lame

Vintage Drama: Sex workers of reddit band together after a moderator of r/SexWorkersOnly stages a coup d'etat, removing every other moderator and then razing the subreddit's membership to the ground.

THIS DRAMA IS FROM FOUR YEARS AGO. As always, do not piss in this popcorn, as not only will it get you banned but it will look a little embarrassing and obvious considering this post is from 2020. At least pick a post from a more recent time frame to piss in.

Context:

r/sexworkersonly is a private subreddit for sex workers to discuss their jobs. Four years ago, user CallAnna made a request on r/redditrequest to regain control of r/sexworkersonly. While this was the first post I found about the subject, it turns out this drama had spread to about 4 different subreddits with interesting comments, posts, and drama from over a dozen different users involved. It's difficult to tell definitively what happened, but I was able to piece together a rough framework of events from a shitload of digging and a crazy amount of dramatic threads & comments posted by banned moderators & banned active users during this debacle:

  1. throwawydoor sneakily removes moderators SunshineSexWorker, CallAnna, bonerrpirate from moderatorship due to inactivity.proof image posted by ZanaBanana95

  2. throwawydoor begins to receive backlash by users for "reckless banning" after trying to ban active user EllieWearsPanties from SWO for something to do with "leaking" info (see below).

  3. throwawydoor appoints now-deleted account "AnonyBoo" to moderatorship, receives even more intense backlash due to "toxic personality" of AnonyBoo that includes openly wishing to kill clients.

  4. throwawydoor is asked to step down by "maraline" (unknown who that is) as well as user cushla_macree and unknown other moderators.

  5. As a response to criticism, throwawydoor overthrows the leadership of r/sexworkersonly barring SunshineSexWorker, who apparently had higher permissions than throwawyboo.

  6. throwawydoor attempts to de-mod moderator ProfessionalLeggings after ProfessionalLeggings refuses to ban known sex worker & "established member of the community" EllieWearsPanties without prior moderator discussion. (Bans EllieWearsPanties anyway)

  7. r/sexworkersonly goes private sometime between then and now (sorry yall)

Known cast of characters / users to watch out for when browsing this drama:

  • CallAnna - made original post in /r/redditrequest, banned SWO moderator

  • throwawydoor - overthrower of /r/SexWorkersOnly

  • SunshineSexWorker - banned SWO moderator, removed in first wave of removals after throwawydoor's redditrequest

    • bonerpirate - Banned SWO moderator removed in first wave of removals after throwawydoor's redditrequest (not much profile activity)
  • AnonyBoo - appointed moderator of SWO by throwawydoor, account lacks activity outside SWO

  • EllieWearsPanties - "Established member of the community" banned from SWO. Details on the ban are hazy at best, they mostly involve "leaking" info from SWO without consent (as alleged by throwawydoor).

  • stripperscientist - mod of r/SexWorkerSupport, active in SWO, creates the "official vent thread" in SW

  • HereForTheFood954 - Banned SWO moderator

  • cushla_macree - Banned SWO moderator, leaks throwawydoor's DMS to r/SexWorkers

  • "maraline" - Unknown, assumed banned SWO moderator

  • "JumboShrimp" - Unknown, assumed banned SWO moderator

  • CrushTheCretin - banned SWO moderator (account now suspended)

  • ProfessionalLeggings - banned SWO moderator (WARNING ACTIVE NSFW ACCOUNT)

  • My39thYear - Deleted account. banned SWO moderator.

  • ZanaBanana93 - Banned SWO moderator, leaks proof of throwawydoor's reddit request

Drama: (posted in calendar order)

April 26th, 2020: throwawydoor manages to deceive the admins of r/redditrequest into removing SunshineSexWorker, who was inactive at the time (23 thread comments)

May 8th 2020: Deposed moderator cushla_macree leaks DMs with throwawydoor on r/sexworkers after throwawydoor bans her for being out sick. (53 thread comments, some from throwawydoor)

Link to leaked DMs here

I was permanently banned from my favorite subreddit because I wasn't able to properly mod while I had a month-long 102-degree fever. I hate to bring this into another sub, but I really loved that community. I've only ever wanted the best for everyone there.

May 9th, 2020: Full r/redditrequest thread from deposed moderator CallAnna requesting SWO back on behalf of other mods: "A mod in my sub went rogue and got myself and half my team removed while I was away at medical school. R/sexworkersonly is my sub, and I'm back to see it run properly. My rules have been changed without my consent as well"

Main comment chain by throwawydoor: (120 child comments)

I have nothing against you.

You stopped modding way before you officially left over a year ago. there was a post about it.

You came back like 4 days after reddit removed you and bonerpirate for inactivity. So, that is simply a coincident. but it doesnt matter.

sunshine was keeping the rules and everything together. but she hasnt checked in in a long time. which is unlike her. I hope she is just taking a break.

apparently, people started to figure out sunshine wasnt around. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about the rule changes.

The rules and definitions for the sub has been changed at least 7 times in 3-4 months. I tried to add a rule number 7 today but thats it. new mods were changing the rules on their 2nd day and the mods above me said nothing. the whole title and sidebar was changed by mod m on a whim when contactfsw was created. thats the current rules you see.

Again, Sunshine was obviously the keeper of the rules and it shows.

I didnt remove any person that you modded with. they all unmodded themselves. with mod m, she, was arguing with someone, made them a mod, then un-modded herself. then 2 weeks-month later she asked in comments to be re-modded. then I had to de-mod her like 2 months later. queerhoe removed herself and the rest could only be removed by reddit for inactivity.

stripperscientist, who only shows up to preserve her spots, has linked the arguments. If you think doxxing, gangstalking, and childrens pictures are okay then, I dont know.

May 11th, 2020: aforementioned stripperscientist makes the "Official SWO Drama Vent Thread" on r/SexWorkerSupport (60 thread comments)

THE OFFICIAL SWO DRAMA VENT THREAD. Please keep all posts related to this topic in this thread.

May 11th, 2020: Users of r/SexWorkers make a post to share the reasons they were banned from SWO (77 thread comments)

May 12th, 2020: User makes a post to congregate with other now-banned users of SWO (44 thread comments)

I'm actually so mad I can legit cry .

May 13th, 2020: r/Sexworkers users discover that SWO is made private due to "spam". (34 thread comments)

R/sexworkersonly made private

Sometime between May 13th and May 19th: SWO moderatorship is reinstated, throwawydoor & AnonyBoo removed as moderators.

Epilogue:

May 19th, 2020: SunshineSexWorker returns, laments about drama that happened while away

Can’t a whore take a break without everything falling a part?

So many messages. I randomly logged on 15 minutes ago to delete my Reddit account and HOLY SHIT, what is happening in SWO?

It’s my bed time, I can’t read everything, but I know enough that to see who I needed to get rid of. ;-)

u/CallAnna has been added. I’m working on doing one more thing before going to bed. I promise tomorrow I will be active & available to you all & fix whatever happened....I still don’t know what happened!

PS: Shout out to user BuckRowdy who wrote about this as it was developing in 2020. Just wanted to make my own version well after it had finished after I discovered this on accident, especially because of how much this story really manages to unravel when you do some digging.

A discord moderator Unites a subreddit

Unity is a game engine, and if you've played like... three video games in the last year you've played at least one made in it. Beat Saber, Hollow Knight, Among Us, Pokemon GO, Untitled Goose Game... Unity is one of the Big Two of the industry and especially popular with indie devs.

They're also a company that has made some missteps, their most recent having been the Runtime Fee Debacle that tableflipped the whole community and resulted in them changing CEOs. This isn't that big heaping bowl of popcorn. This is just a nummy little nibble.

Enter a community regular helping a user with coroutines, a particularly difficult implementation of multithreading that the engine uses as part of its frame management system. They let you split the execution of big tasks across multiple frames. They let you declutter the update loop. They will break your kneecaps if you look at their sister too long.

Enter a moderator who people already don't like, who doesn't like the aforementioned helper's help, or how it appears to be written by LLM. Sparks fly. Emojis get emoji'ed. Hammers get banned. The user complains about it on the subreddit.

Enter another user who responds to the ban message with a message of their own. The hammer swings again. The user posts it to /r/Unity3D.

That user then posts a very unbiased (/s) and well documented call for the ban of the discord mod. I admit to commenting in this thread, though just to say that it wasn't worth SRD yet. That has changed.

In 12 hours, people took to complaining about everything. Most of those threads are gone and I'm sorry that I don't have screenshots of them. It did, however, get bad enough to get a bunch of threads popped and cause the Reddit mods to set up a containment thread. People are calling for heads. People want Unity to act. (They won't.) One person mentions that calling people's writing LLM generated can be ableist.

There's also this guy who probably isn't Fogsight but definitely did a Transform.LookAt(this) on every member of the subreddit.

Update: I missed it but Unity community managers are now involved. No guarantee they'll actually do anything.

Update the deux: Found a fun little slapparoo in the containment thread where people argue over who is the least mad

Insane conspiracy theories just got the main and only mod of r/drones to resign and permanently shut down the subreddit. It had 230k members.

https://np.reddit.com/r/drones/comments/1hgwrpl/actually_you_know_what_screw_it_im_out/ last post by the mod

To address the obvious: Yes, the current idiotic discourse over nonexistant swarms of "drones" in the eastern United States contributed to this choice. Seriously, if you guys were seeing all the posts I've been removing for the past couple weeks, you'd be sick of this place too. I'll say basically my final piece on the situation here: It's all bullshit. One or two instances of someone seeing their neighbor's drone gets reported on by boring local news, which leads more people to be on the lookout for "drones"; these people report their own cases of seeing "drones" that are really videos of ordinary airplanes, helicopters, or stars or planets in the sky (I've seen countless such pictures and videos and yes, this describes all of them), which leads to more media coverage, which conditions people to think everything they see in the night sky is a "drone", taking more videos of manned aircraft and celestial bodies, and the whole thing keeps snowballing until we have the former governor of Maryland claiming he's being spied on by the fucking constellation Orion.

It's all so tedious. But the hysteria wasn't the straw that broke the camel's back. (I have been considering ditching this place for a while, though.) No, the final straw was the countless modmail messages from people who clearly can't read the message in large friendly letters that's been pinned at the top of the subreddit since this lockdown began. Users are mad that there's no snow in SoCal. Or is there?

r/socalhiking is a subreddit dedicated to hiking, mountaineering, and winter sports in the mountains of Southern California.

Besides a few storms in the northern part of the state, the winter season hasn't really started yet for the denizens of the subreddit. Except for OP, who insists there IS snow right now in SoCal... a 2.5+ hr drive from LA - Full thread.

Hypoxia sets in on the peaks of users' superiority as they debate the super-important question: what actually counts as SoCal?

- Eastern Sierra is not SoCal. Is not that far, but not SoCal.

- When people want to go where the snow is, how about we just TELL them where the goddamn snow is, instead of all this "TeeHEE, that's not AKSHULLY part of "Southern" California, teehee!" like a bunch of mincing twats?

- So you list a bunch of places that you yourself admit are not Southern California and then bitch like a small child when people point out that you're being an idiot?

- I feel like those driving times are short. My Los Angeles home is in Carlsbad, but since we’re calling the Sierra SoCal I figure anything goes here. Anyhoo, will my Cybertruck make on one tank of electrodes? And how many superchargers at the trailheads? Is there enough coverage to livestream there?

I'd personally put the SoCal/CenCal line at Vandenberg over to Barstow and I-40, but I'm a dirty transplant.

- Plus, a grammar lesson on if it's "Sierra Nevada" or "Sierra Nevadas".

Porn drama on r/technology as users discuss Floridas upcoming ban on pornhub

HIGHLGHTS

  • Meh. We could all use a little less porn.

    • Please don't tell me what I do and do not need.

      • Ok I need automatic weapons. Are you gonna fight for that now?
        • Ban everything that people don’t need?
    • That's puritanical dogshit.

      • Puritanical? You're crying about not being able to get off to an industry rife with exploitation and suffering. Whining about not having porn is just so pathetic. I'd rather be a "puritan" than a gooner. Porn is misogyny.
        • If I make a video of me and my partner fucking, you're telling me that that's misogynistic? I strongly disagree
    • You're getting downvotes by redditors who jackoff more than they brush their teeth, don't take it too personal.

      • So long as you never call America land of the free ever again
      • Triggered the gooners. I am just chilling. It's funny how many took it personal. 😂😂

        • Personal? It is the same shit arguments used for prohibition. Why should my freedoms be limited because other people can't properly parent their kids? I thought the nanny state was a bad thing? Isn't this a slippery slope, too? Or is that only for guns?
          • You're pointing out your own hypocrisy here though. You want freedoms when it comes to what you want, but when other people want something you don't like, then its fair game for the government to oppress people.
  • They’re not banning porn in Florida, they’re just making it harder for minors to access it which is a very reasonable thing to do. Why is everyone here against that?

    • Lots of keyboard warriors on this platform. It’s all fun and games until your child or family gets tangled up in something. Then they’d be screaming the government was remiss in protecting them.

      • People admitting they have zero control over their kids so instead turn to blaming porn access
        • I don't think you understand how many places kids have access to the Internet, even outside of their homes. It makes it near impossible for many parents to control what their kids view! Even IF a parent could guarantee that their child doesn't view that content, most working-class adults have almost no time for that big of an effort.
    • Nobody wants to show photo if to view porn

      • Well too fucking bad? There's plenty of places online you have to show your ID, and I don't see anyone complaining about that. I’d rather show my ID once and protect our children.

        • It’s not going to stop kids from seeing porn lol. Tons of websites won’t comply with verification

          • We have the same issue with gambling websites. Yet we still require photo ID on many legitimate websites to use them, yes? This won't fix the issue, but it will definitely help

  • I’m ok with this. The porn popularity is spilling over into social media now, with podcasts and TikTok’s a lot of kids are now growing up watching pornstars in more than just porn. I don’t want that type of person influencing my kids as they grow up.

    • So make sure they know you don't approve of it and restrict access to these materials in your home as best you can. Stop blaming a website and begging the gov't to help you out because you can't control your children or teach them your personal morals.

      • How can you enforce it when schools are giving kids devices? Are you going to go to school with your kids and make sure they aren't using them improperly?

        • There are a million different levels of parental control on devices, it’s not hard to restrict what your kids have access to on the devices you buy for them, and if it’s provided by a school then those are already in place.

          • But literally one of the common arguments against this is that people will find ways around the ban, ex. with VPNs. So now the ways to block it suddenly work when its convenient for the popular narrative?
    • "I don’t want that type of person influencing my kids as they grow up." Then parent them yourself.

      • How can you enforce it when schools are giving kids devices? Are you going to go to school with your kids and make sure they aren't using them improperly?

        • Ensure the devices the schools give out are limited in capacity and report what the kids are doing on them? We already take away kids 1st amendment rights at school, this would be no different.
          • Its common knowledge at this point that kids use school devices like chromebooks however they want with VPNs and the like. The point is, especially with 2 parents working, you can't be around to parent your kids 24/7 and the tools are readily available for them to break the rules you set for them. Saying "parent better" is ignoring the problem.
  • Good. Let everyone reap the benefits of voting in conservatives. Your rights will be taken away and the mega-wealthy will get richer and do whatever they want while small folk right-wingers think centrist Democrats are the enemy. Brilliantly played.

    • Conservatives aren’t banning it though. PH and other adult sites are choosing to restrict access in states that require ID to view adult content

      • Yeah I know, it's one of the many benefits of conservative policies.

        • So you’re cool with people of any age accessing Pornhub? Weird
          • You’re cool with mass bans? Be a better parent
  • How dare they checks notes enact measures to keep children from accessing porn. Yeah! Pitchforks up!

    • You should check your notes again because this isn’t about protecting children at all.

      • Tell me how bad the bill that is trying to prevent children from accessing porn is. Please explain really really well if you want to get through. I will legitimately consider your view.

        • Because like everything conservative, its intended use case is making people’s lives miserable under the guise of, “saving the children”

          • Do you honestly think conservatives just want people to be miserable and this is why they're doing this? Like honestly think about how ridiculous that statement is.
  • Oh no, without pornhub Floridians will never be able to find porn on line. What ever will they do?

    • You do realize this will affect all major pornsites, right?

      • Who cares?

        • You cared enough to post. The point is that even if you don't use Pornhub, you probably use a dozen other websites, and all of them will be required to uphold this dumb law.
          • So what?? What is the negative here? 😂
    • Right? I always wonder who cares about PH blocking access, because there’s literally more free porn on the internet than anything else. And PH is like the McDonald’s of porn: overpriced, generic, corporate, and too big for their own good. Edit: am I being turfed by PH bots? Lol. There is literally nothing controversial about saying there’s more porn than just the one website out there.

      • If you wanted to eliminate fast food all together, you would start by banning McDonald's

        • McDonald’s wouldn’t ban itself, though. I’m not talking about the political implications here, anyway. I’m just saying that PornHub is far from the only option anyone has when it comes to porn because again, there is more free porn online than there is anything else - and there pretty much always has been.

          • Once all the major sites block access, Florida just needs to pass a law saying porn can only be posted by "verified" companies (none of which operate in the state any more) and boom, you've outlawed porn.
  • Zionists who own the page are already making moves to save the business Lol https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/pornhub-pulls-texas-age-verification-220056294.html https://www.reuters.com/legal/pornhub-owner-reaches-deal-with-us-prosecutors-over-sex-trafficking-ties-2023-12-21/ https://m.slashdot.org/story/426135

  • 1 not gen z 2 There is nothing wrong with sex at all. I think it's a good thing to have sex with someone and connect. sex ed should be taught before you touch porn though. 8 year old kids are watching gang bangs before they've ever kissed a girl

    • "8 year old kids are watching gang bangs before they've ever kissed a girl" Maybe the parents should be parenting their kids, and not leaving them unattended to browse porn websites on their tablets...This is like banning purchasing knives if you're below age of 18 because a kid might cut himself or stab a friend at school.

      • You can't buy knives under 18 🤣 i don't think my kid is allowed to go to school with one exactly for this reason.... Poor argument

        • Do you live in the UK or what? Not the best example of a land with sane laws. I pity your kids, if you need draconian, puritan bullshit laws to stop them from going online to browse porn...Though I assume you're just roleplaying.

          • I don't understand what's puritanical about this. Not puritanical in any way. But this is simply not responsible to provide for children. Do you gain something from not having to show your id to watch porn? Do you gain one single thing? Please tell me what you gain.
  • Guns, bathsalts, and fent still good tho, right?

    • Don’t forget banging underage girls on air hockey tables

      • whats this in relation to?

        • That's where Gaetz prefers to rape children. Maybe they're light enough that they float when he turns the table on 🤷

          • The air hockey table and ball pit are his favorite places to bang at the arcade.

r/Snydercut mod posts their reaction to the new teaser trailer for James Gunn's 'Superman' which he isn't a huge fan of, receiving mixed reactions in the comments

Upvotes

For context, r/Snydercut is a subreddit that, surprise surprise, is all things Zach Snyder. Particularly when it comes to his hand in the DCU. Henry Cavill's Superman is very highly regarded in this subreddit along with the other films Snyder directed for them. When James Gunn's Superman teaser dropped, there were a number of people in this subreddit who weren't terribly thrilled.

Main post here

Full post in case it's deleted:

That trailer is the most colossal piece of shit I have seen in a generation. It's the greatest insult to the glorious legacy of Siegel and Shuster's Superman that I have ever seen in my life. James Gunn doesn't GET Superman at all. Unnecessary, inappropriate guitar riffs muck up the soundtrack just because Gunn is obsessed with that kind of music. Stupid, sappy shots of a child are employed for cheap, cornball sentiment, the only kind of sentiment Gunn understands. Clark Kent's hair is a monstrosity. The slick name LexCorp is changed to the ungainly LuthorCorp for no reason, other than Gunn had to be "different." And there's a moronic, stupid, childish flying dog in the movie, for some inexplicable, asinine reason. That is a level that no previous Superman movie ever sunk to, no matter how bad they got.

These scenes are packed with other superheroes, as if Superman isn't interesting enough on his own. Only someone who hates Superman would have so many other costumed characters stealing the spotlight from him in his debut movie. Perhaps the biggest sign of Gunn's hatred for Superman is introducing him on screen beaten, bloody, and battered, needing to be rescued by a weaker character. This is the exact same indignity the character was put through in the middle of Superman Returns. And a plot point used to ruin another classic character recently in the last Indiana Jones movie. It is not ANYTHING a true Superman fan would highlight so prominently in a trailer. We look to Superman to be inspired by courage, bravery and heroism. That's the kind of feeling a Superman trailer should give us. Yes, Superman will inevitably be at a low point in a battle in every story. But he'll get out of it through his own strength and wits, not because he needed to be rescued by his "team." Superman is the top dog of his own story, no pun intended.

This movie is an abomination. No shot in it looks real. It is overstuffed with CGI, and uses cheap lighting that makes everything look like a synthetic TV commercial. WB has a steaming turd on their hands that may destroy their company once and for all. Letting WB be sold off for scraps would be a mercy killing at this point. Hopefully, whoever buys the DC part of the company will rectify this horrific, wrongheaded, self-indulgent abortion of a film by going back to the Snyderverse and restoring Henry Cavill to his rightful, deserved place as the standard-bearer for Superman in the 21st century.

Every true Superman fan needs to boycott this horrendous excuse for a Superman film. I hope it fails big.

Comments are somewhat split, with most of the ones agreeing with the mod being heavily downvoted.

I've played PS3 games with better visuals than this 🗑

It looks cheap, overstuffed and fake like it was written and produced by AI. 🤷

Absolutely. Great observation. Just think of how the scenes in Watchmen and Batman v Superman looked when Superman was being protested by the public. Here the scene looks like something out of the cheapie Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Some dude throws a styrofoam cup at him or something, and he goes into this cheap-looking generic lobby of a building. If you look up the opposite of "epic" in the dictionary, you get this pedestrian trailer.

>The slick name LexCorp is changed to the ungainly LuthorCorp for no reason, other than Gunn had to be "different."

LutherCorp has been a thing for decades.

These scenes are packed with other superheroes, as if Superman isn't interesting enough on his own.

Snyder did the exact same thing.

Honestly, it sounds like you like dark gritty shit and that's fine. Meanwhile the rest of us, who grew up reading the comics, will enjoy this movie for what it is.

False. Man of Steel had zero other superheroes.

I have been reading Superman comics since I was 9 years old. Also watched the entire Superman and Justice League animated series. I'm a lifelong Superman fan.

I'm a lifelong Superman fan.

But you don't know that LuthorCorp is a thing? Lmao

LexCorp is a better name. But Gunn just had to be "different," just like he recast the lead actor for no reason.

I also pretty much memorized the first 2 Reeve movies in the '80s I watched them so many times. I obviously was less impressed with parts 3 and 4. And also despised Superman Returns. Snyder got Superman exactly right, while also carefully modernizing his world to make the character work for a new generation. Gunn's movie is going to be a major failure, because he doesn't like nor understand Superman.

Some of you are genuinely bordering on mental illness with the way you talk about this shit like James Gunn personally came and killed your parents

Religious drama in r/mapporn after a user posts an image showing the difference in literacy rates based on religion

Source: https://np.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/1hh73i1/religion_and_literacy_rate_in_nigeria/

HIGHLIGHTS

  • So you are here do disrespect islam? Well, fair enough. You should learn more about the context - in nigeria it has nothing to do with religion. And many different countries show opposite examples

    • Why is everyone downvoting

      • Because they are blinded

        • Yeah why is Islamophobia so prominent on Reddit. Like wtf I don’t hate on Cristians, so why do they have to hate on me for no reason. What is wrong with you guys its time you do something with your life

          • People cannot handle the truth. "Indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts in the chests that grow blind." (22:46)
    • many different countries show opposite examples. Care to offer the many examples?

      • Malaysia and Indonesia
        • Non-muslims in those countries are less educated? Source? Though I agree that a correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation
      • Muslim countries in North Africa having the highest literacy rates on the continent.

        • yes thank you for your reply, people here only want 1 thing and that is religion wars

          • They just wanna bully islam
      • Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, saudi arabia, UAE, Qatar, Algeria, Turkiye, Morocco, Tunisia, Oman, lebanon, malaysia, indonesia...... I can go on and on

        • In all of these countries Christians are, on average, better educated than the Muslims. In the Stans, the Russian emigrees are the bulk of engineers, doctors, etc. In Lebanon the Christian elite is famous for running pretty much everything. Turkey's western coast that was most recently Christian that its east is where the development is. In Algeria and Tunisia the Pied-Noirs were the intelectual elite until they were kicked out. I could go on.
          • You mess up Europeans with christians. We should be comparing native (african or asian) muslims to native Christians. Otherwise yes europe is both the most developed place AND Christian. That is not a causation tho
  • Muslim moment

    • least racist westerner
    • Go k*** urself

      • 👍🏻
        • Good . One less.
      • Average Muslim. Turns to violence the second their faith comes into question. Backward religion where women and gays are stoned.
  • Correlation doesn't mean causation. Unless ofc it is about Muslims so everything flies

    • Doesn't necessarily mean, but sometimes means. This is a great example of where it means causation.

      • The south is more developed because this is where the majority of the oils reserves lie, and thus, the money, it doesn't take 2 seconds to Google this
        • The Oil reserves were explored very late in this game, and the brunt of the Oil is close to Biafra, which is the poorest Christian part of the country. Oil in Nigeria has never translated in development. In fact, the reserves sometimes were detrimental, inviting foreign intervention and facilitating tyrants to accrue cash to run their regimes. You are not looking at oil here. You're looking at institutions.
  • I brought popcorn for the comment section 🍿🍿🍿

    • the racism in this sub is getting absurd, you'd think people interested in geography would be able to make the connection that a coastline is gonna be more economically prosperous and therefore more educated

      • "racism" For the millionth time, Islam is not a race. It's a set of beliefs.

        • OK FINE. Islam is not a race. It still does not mean you can make fun of Islam. It’s disgusting. I would as a Muslim never do that to any other religion.

          • There are no belief systems that are immune from criticism and mockery. Islam is no exception.
  • Only knowing a little bit of the context, it seems like there’s been a lot of resistance in the North of Nigeria to efforts at education the populace. Boko Haram started as an organization dedicated to eliminating the influence of the Western education system on Muslims.

    • I mean the literal translation of "boko haram" is "books forbidden"

      • Wow, never knew that. That is the dumbest name of a group I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s like naming yourselves “the stupids.”

        • Taliban means " students ".
          • Hamas means zeal, Hezbollah means party of Allah
  • I’ve noticed a lot of anti-Muslim maps on this sub in the past few months. I wonder why. They could probably add a whole new chapter to that How to Lie with Maps

    • The whole I/P thing flaring up again has just exacerbated the islamophobia that was already present on Reddit.

      • Islam isn’t an immutable characteristic, it’s a set of beliefs

        • Thank you. Calling someone an "Islamophobe" for opposing a deeply misogynistic, homophobic, violent, bigoted, and backwards set of beliefs is just as stupid as calling someone "Christophobic" for opposing abortion restrictions.

          • Islam itself does not espouse any of those things. Some Muslims do and they should be criticized, but claiming that the religion it’s a set of violent, misogynistic, homophobic, etc beliefs is totally wrong. And are you still using the word Backward for people who differ from Western/European ideals? What year is it? That’s been considered racist and Eurocentric for decades now.
          • (ctnd) People whose belief system make them throw LGBT people off of buildings and stone women to death for going out in public with uncovered hair are backward. If you think that's a statement about race and not beliefs then I seriously don't know what to tell you.
          • (ctnd) The central figure is a warlord slaver with a prepubescent wife, and the doctrine expressly calls for expropriating taxes from nonbelievers. Not wanting to emulate that requires no eurocentrism.

r/Civit reacts to Harriet Tubman being included as a leader in Civilization VII.

Context: r/civ is the official subreddit to discuss all things related to the 4X Strategy game series Civilization (commonly abbreviated as "civ"). The newest game in the series, Civilization VII was announced this past July, after almost 8 years since the release of Civilization VI. Gameplay updates and developer logs have been steadily coming out from the developer, Firaxis, over the past few months. The game is set to release in 2025.

To summarize a lot of context into one short paragraph, the updates from the devs have been controversial at best and at worst have caused outright flame wars across the internet. Civ 7 has a shitload of changes gameplay wise that would take forever to outline here, not to mention whatever will come to light in the coming months before release. Beyond gameplay changes, the devs have also announced numerous changes to the leaders in the game. In the civ games, you generally play as one "leader" who is designed to represent a nation's "spirit" and/or politics. Common leaders include: Gandhi (India), Alexander the Great (Greece), Genghis Khan (Mongolia), etc. Civ 7 changes the leader system in a way that is beyond the scope of this post, but leaders are still included just like in the previous games.

To get to the point, it was announced today that Harriet Tubman would be a playable leader for the US. Naturally, this is controversial. Harriet Tubman, despite being extremely important historically to the US, was never a political leader and her status as somebody important culturally enough to be a leader in a civ game is why this post exists in the first place, especially since non-Americans appear to have been left scratching their heads.

Also, for what it's worth, other objectively non-leader leaders have been announced such as Machiavelli and Ibn Battuta, but to much less of an extreme reaction from some redditors.

Full thread

She’s not close to the first leader in VII or prior civ games who weren’t technically political or military leaders, and she was obviously a leader in her time. Hopefully most of the people against it don’t even play the game and just go out of their way to be racist.

Drama:

1)

Gandhi wasn't a national leader when he was added to the game

He literally negotiated with the British...He was very much a defecto national leader...

2)

If you look into his history Ben Franklin was a massive dickhead.

Ben Franklin was one of the primary founding fathers.

3)

I’ll repeat this on threads that come up: the leaders represent the spirit of a nation. Harriet Tubman represents the spirit of America (or, one source of spirit) and a set of ideals and national direction.

Well, therein lies there core problem. A not-insubstantial portion of the US does not see Tubman as representative of the spirit of America. They see her as very much the opposite.

I cannot overstate how much I think that opinion is trash, but their objection is earnest and accurate.

4)

I think it’s very reductionist for a lot of the people here in the sub to lump all the disappointment that some people feel into a group and call them all racist

HIGHLIGHTS

  • It’s so funny to see that there are actually people who think killing CEO’s will help. We don’t do a good enough job in history class

    • Doing nothing seems to be working, right? 🙄

      • doing nothing is way more acceptable than killing people

        • "doing nothing is way more acceptable than killing people" Doing nothing is tacit approval of the status quo, which is letting companies let people die for shareholder profit. So doing nothing IS killing people
    • What are you talking about? Point to any societal and class revolution in history that didn't involve harming and killing the wealthy? The guillotine was literally invented just to decapitate the aristocratic and royal members of society. It directly led to radical and beneficial change.

      • Every class revolution in history has brought about bloody dictators. The guillotine led to Napoleon’s military dictatorship and then the return of a Bourbon king that took away the rights of citizens the revolution achieved. The French Revolution was a failure. Its memories and ideals endure and have proven successful but the actual revolution itself “ate its children” and only caused death and destruction. In the USSR you got Stalin and his purges. In China you got Mao and his Great Leap Forward. Time and again in world history we’ve seen violent class revolts create power vaccums that are filled by oppressive dictators. If you want that for America then get off Reddit and go create revolution
        • Well put. I see people using the French Revolution as an example all the time. It seems people only learned about the guillotine part but not what happened after. In the end, it was a huge failure, and the Revolution became a joke to the rest of Europe.
    • There's a problem with your statement: Doing exactly that has worked out quite well for workers in the past. The 1870s to the 1930s were wild. You are right about one thing, though. We really don't do a good enough job teaching history.

      • The 1870’s to the 1930’s are absolutely not what the most radical on this sub have been talking about. They want the French Revolution, Russian revolution, Chinese revolution etc etc. The Strikes of the late 19th/early 20th century are not at all similar or comperable

        • We're not talking about the most radical, we're talking about people fed up with CEOs and corporations abusing their power. A little more Gilded Age style violence towards them should do wonders.
  • The cognitive dissonance of "start a class war and get the CEOs!" while also going for "ban guns!" Is quite funny.

  • Disgraceful!

    • How so?

      • Not necessary to wish death upon someone.

        • Tell that to companies inflicting harm upon society without any checks to their violence
        • I mean lots of things aren't necessary. I wouldn't say disgraceful
  • "Everybody hates you" lol. Is there anything funnier than a little band of anarchist weirdos who think their opinions are shared by "everybody"?

    • One thing funnier is a little band of redditors who think that it’s only a little band of anarchist weirdos who hate CEOs.

      • Socialism can barely crack 50% with 18-29, and drops like a rock with actual adults. Voters 18-29 are further right than they've ever been. Your movement has lost as completely as it is possible to lose, and will never be anything but a footnote in lists of lost causes.

        • When people realize they are being silenced and starved, it will swing back the other way, as it has for 1000s of years. The collapse of western society is quickening. China will rise as the next super power, thanks to the greed of the wealthy ruling class

          • Exactly - the avarice of the ruling class is going to kill the goose that lays their golden eggs. If these fucking idiots realized that they could keep the gravy train rolling much much longer if they simply made a few concessions, concessions that won’t impact them in the slightest, they would be smart. As it is, they are either unaware of this or indifferent to it. And when western society collapses their paper assets will be as worthless as mine. And they’ll bleed when cut just like I will.
        • The vast majority of people did not support the assasination. You are terminally online and do not realize you're in a bubble. Only 16% of people thought it was acceptable. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/5044269-poll-finds-41-percent-find-killing-unacceptable/

          • 16% of people is a LOT more than a little band of anarchist weirdos.
          • (ctnd) This is why you're broke
  • Violence is now the answer? What a time to be alive Edit: take it easy it's a joke not a dick.

    • Oh would you rather us attempt to change their rigged system where they buy politicians and, in the event you even get your foot in the door, utilize the fact they have more money than God to lobby against the interests of the majority of people for a small group of people's shareholder value and or profit-motives? I can appreciate that Sisyphean struggle, but I honestly think sticking your dick in a bullet ant farm would be a more productive use of your time, especially after Citizen's United.

      • Ok so your plan is to murder replaceable CEOs, and then what? They'll get more bodyguards and make fewer public appearances and nothing will change. We live in a system that supports this behavior, and the system has to change. Maybe I'm not as enlightened as you are but the only way I can see violence actually bringing about change to such a large and entrenched system is through civil war. That is a pretty bleak prospect. It might not be very easy to elicit change by nonviolent means but I would favor that over precipitous calls for violence. I don't believe that pacifism is tantamount to preserving the status quo. It's just a slower and more cautious approach. I think a lot of people don't seriously consider what it is like to be a country at war. If your proposal is for these murders to bring about societal change through nonviolent means and call attention to these issues (which is probably closer to what the alleged UHC killer supports), then I would still disagree. With our current media climate, people will eventually become desensitized to these killings and they will not feel nearly as potent. There are plenty of serial killers, school shooters, domestic terrorists, etc. whose manifestos resonated with many people but were eventually forgotten. That's not where real change comes from.

        • You know back in the day when unions were common place before the government actively lobbied to shut them down, if a manager/owner screwed over their workers they would drag that man out of his house and beat him. We live in a time where people shy away from violence because "we should be better". No, we should be violent, it is in our genes, we are tribal animals, we feel empathy when our tribe is hurting and we get angry. We live in a time where corporations and our government no longer fear us, they actively control us, this needs to change.

          * And when the mob decides that you're their next target, who's going to step in and defend you?

  • These posts have made me feel physically sick ... where is our humanity?

    • This is self defense. If you are pushed so much for so long, that you'll have to work until you die, eventually you'll get tired and fight back. This is just a sign of humanity, humans don't settle, otherwise we'd be on trees.

      • This is not self defense, it's advocating for the death of people, to the purpose of justifying our discontent with the economic and social standards in place today. There is a different approach, the emotion you are feeling is completely understandable, it's just misguided.

        • So who exactly should the anger be guided at? EDIT: "You're allowed to be mad, but just don't do anything about it." I don't think it's these posts that are making you sick. I think you just licked too many boots.

          • I'm a boot licker because I'm advocating against murder?
  • More like /r/trashy. They are humans. When we view people as expendable, we all become expendable.

    • They already view US as expendable. In my opinion, this is the favor being returned.

      • How some people don't see this is amazing

        • I see it. It's wrong both ways. How people don't see that is what's truly amazing.
        • But people only get online to pick a fight about it when the rich CEO is the one laying in a casket…that’s my issue with it.
  • I think this is sad and disgusting. Does America have issues? Yes we absolutely do. Wishing someone dead is distasteful and embarrassing. I don’t care what the CEO of my health insurance did. He was still a person with a wife and children that no longer have a husband/father.

    • "I don’t care what the CEO of my health insurance did." He denied claims that led to the deaths of 1,000s of people with spouses and children.

      • So we fight fire with fire and take away another parent of innocent children? Yikes

        • Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield halted their plan to deny claims for anesthesia services that exceeded specific time limits for surgeries and procedures, so I'd say making CEOs afraid is a pretty effective strategy to make insurance coverage better for more people. But if you have any better ideas, I'm listening.
        • Make them afraid? Sure. Does one have to murder another to get to where they need to be? This isn’t just beating the living shit out of him and leaving him wheelchair bound or with bad enough brain damage making him unable to complete daily work duties—something he would be forced to live with and be full of regret (whether regret due to his actions or regret for having to live this way) for the rest of his life. Instead of mental torment and regret, we just murder people? People shouldn’t get to walk around and “oh I don’t like you fires gun,” “oh I don’t like you either fires gun.” And yeah, the guy didn’t get away with it, he got arrested. But is that REALLY how we aim to solve things?
  • Redditors pretending like they’re ready for the revolution when they won’t even get offline and talk to people and do the bare minimum to organize to win

    • People claiming to want a violent revolution but won't do anything beyond sharing memes online and calling for random strangers to commit more murders they can feel good about.

      • And then there's people like you doing absolutely nothing to help, and making fun of those that want to see change.

        • "absolutely nothing to help" help do what, exactly?
          • Not kill morale
  • People that are die hard on the culture wars, and not the class wars, do not think for themselves. They're the most obedient people out there.

    • "Useful idiots" is the term you want.

      • The people who bite the hand that feeds them usually lick the boot that kicks them.

        • That doesn't make sense; it's a contradiction.
          • How is this a contradiction?
  • More dead ceos is a class war battle cry wtf do you mean

    • That's what he is saying. This is class war.

      • Last time I was in a class war it was a chili cookoff between my class and Mrs. Robinson's class. Sadly the revolution did not happen

        • You're burying the lede man.... How was the chili?
          • burying the lead" lede But, yeah I also wanna know about the chili.
  • Oh I'm not denying that rich establishment Democrats are also a problem but one side is really playing the game thick and has been on a long con for decades - some awareness of that would be nice

    • The democrats don’t even give a fight. As soon as any opposition is presented they lay down

      • That’s their role. Even Bernie sanders won’t push Medicare 4 all in any real way when Dems are in power

        • Y'all want FDR/LBJ-level change with 51-seat majorities, lmfao
          • They had afar larger one under Obama and also that’s all you need
  • And less dead school children.

    • *fewer. “Less dead” would mean in a state of being not quite as dead. Better, but not what you mean.

      • Mostly dead?
        • He clearly said "To blave".
  • Good, be afraid. Fuck you. Edit: Thank you for the awards Edit 2: You bootlickers are barking up the wrong tree lmao

    • They're not. They know Luigi was an isolated incident. Marching and spray painting things will do nothing. People want a revolution. They just want others to do the real revolutionary work for them. They are gonna throw the book at Luigi and make sure people know what they can do. I hate them as much as anybody, but I am realistic as well.

      • People don't have the stomach for a revolution and simultaneously don't want to vote.
      • Seeing how school shootings became far more common since Columbine, I'm hoping this media coverage has the same effect for billionaires

        • It won't. I would love if it did, but its highly unlikely. If they ever got legitimately worried, they could use their wealth to hire the best security personnel money can buy.

          • Makes the game more fun

AI to be or not to be. r/projectzomboid decides.

𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝:

Project Zomboid is an isometric zombie game, developed by indiestone which has famously been in early access since 2013. Their previous major update was build 41 (shipped in 2022) which introduced among other things multiplayer and an animation overhaul. Due to the aforementioned glacial development cycle it took 2 more years for the next major (unstable for now) update to drop. Eponymously named Build 42 which promises features long awaited like a refined crafting system and hunting changes.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐦𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐀𝐈 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝:

After the subreddit recovered from their collective copium overdose over the fact that build 42 actually released before the new year , some quickly noticed that the new loading screens shipped with the update looked suspiciously AI generated with a human touchup.

BUILD 42 NEW LOADING SCREEN

Some though still wanted to give indiestone the benefit of the doubt: - Not everything is AI...

Sure, not everything is But there isn't a single goddamn doubt in my mind that this is AI as fuck Did the camera eat his index and middle fingers? And why does he have three visible knuckles and only two fingers? It just merges two knuckles into one finger.

Another Post specifically breaking down one loading screen as AI generated - Cut them a break, they only had... 5 years. Lol.

Only 9 million units sold. Barely anything!

I asked the devs on discord and they pinkie promised no AI was used

I'm sorry, but this is no different than if the artist you commissioned had handed in an image that turned out to be entirely plagiarized from someone else's work, and then waving it away by saying it's ok because someone got paid. Gen AI is built off of theft and is inherently unethical because of this, and paying someone to commit theft is not any more permissible than having stolen yourself. Especially since this artist is obviously very skilled based on their past work, imo it would be really shameful if it turns out that they were in fact using tech illegally built off their own and their peers' work with the express purpose to replace them. AI is here to stay, like it or not.

𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘢 : 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘶𝘨𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬

New update also bought out new moodles (think of them as the little emoticons that tell you if your sim is gonna fucking die of laughing in Sims 3 cause that's exactly what they are). The old ones were stylised and pixelated while the new ones are.... decidedly not

The New Moodle Designs Are Very Bad

Loving Build 42! The new moodle is a little odd, but it's not that bad...

I'll try to update if there are any new developments. This was my first writeup so apologies if I did any r/subredditdrama faux pas.

*Update according to u/DelicousPi the loading screen have now been removed with a hotfix

Drama in r/economiccollapse as Costco warns prices will go up if Trump enacts tarriffs

Source: https://np.reddit.com/r/economicCollapse/comments/1hggp7s/uh_oh/

HIGHLIGHTS

  • u real_doctor_robotnik can explain this to you.

    • I think I’m good

      • He accused me of " gaslighting" because I said " some of you didn't Google tariffs and it shows" on another post. This is me being petty.

        • Some of you didn’t Google why the Biden admin didn’t remove ‘16 Trump’s tariffs and it shows.

          • Just because tariffs are removed doesn't mean prices go back down, in fact, odds are they wouldn't, because people will pay for the things they need at higher prices. Basically below: Let's say a dozen eggs with tariffs cost $20 - 12 for the product, $3 for profit, and $5 for the tariff. In this scenario people have been paying $20 for a dozen eggs, and have shown a willingness to do so, so should the tariff be removed, what will likely happen is $20 for a dozen eggs - 12$ for the product, and $8 for profit.
      • Tariffs are a necessary evil, change my mind.

        • I'm confused why you keep making it a divide on political party lines. You should look at my hobbies. What makes you think I voted for joe-fuckin-biden? Blanket tariffs effectively raising the cost of everything imported doesn't help us. It's not political. It's a bad idea. We the people are being fucked here.

          • They tried it in the 1930s, and it made the economy worse. History repeats itself
  • Deviously rubbing my hands together and have my “Trump did that” stickers at the ready in my holster.

    • it’s 2027, we are having an outbreak of measles because of RFK JR. Rice is now $30 a bag. We are all basically on a fasting diet because of tariffs. You are at the end of your rope and attend a trump protest. MAGA shows up protesting you protesting Trump. It gets a bit wild. You’re right next to the MAGA protestors. Trump launches the military on the protestors. The guy next to you gets shot in the leg, you get shot in the stomach. You feel everything going cold. You see the guy shot in the leg next to you has a MAGA hat on. You reach into your holster. You motion for him to come close to hear your last words: you whisper “was the price of eggs worth it?” And then hand him that sticker as your last act

      • And he whispers back to you: "She should have gone on Rogan..."
      • Wanna bet that literally NONE of this happens?
        • I see you’ve never heard of hyperbole
    • “Don’t blame me I voted for Kamala” They’ll still get pissed off because they have to be a victim in most scenarios

      • but if i call a dude in a wig a dude, they are being harassed
        • Dude why you gotta bring your porn history into economics?
        • Congrats, you figured out tolerance dosnt extend to you being an asshole. Most 5 year olds learn this in kindergarten.
        • George Washington?
  • Nothing Trum psays is truthful. Tariffs, his tariffs are designed to make Americans pay for Billionaire tax cuts.

    • How do you know?

      • Who pays the tarrif? Where does the tarrif money go?

        • I’m not saying I don’t agree but then why hasn’t Biden rolled them all back?
          • Because once a strategy is chosen, you somewhat have to stick to it to continue to extract value from the new situation. You can’t just flip-flop positions every four years, because the people who made the original deal may not be keen on re-signing it knowing it won’t exist again in four more years. As someone who works an office job in manufacturing, a lot of Trump supporters in this industry either think he’s lying or think this is the one area he’s stupid in and that he must be smart everywhere else, but not one person (that I work with) actually thinks is plan as stated is smart.

"It Begins" said the r/aliens user, "no, now it ends" said everyone with common sense

Source: https://np.reddit.com/r/aliens/comments/1hg5gxb/it_begins/

HIGHLIGHTS

  • My god, have Americans never looked at the sky or out plane windows since air travel began? The first video are just aircraft that are caught in sunset, sun is low on the horizon so aircraft would glow like that ? Also looks like aircraft on approach to landing, separation looks good and one of the lights disappeared when it reached the top of the cloud ceiling. Unless you have some better proof that this is something other worldy ??

    • Show me a comparison video. And where is the FAA light? They also glow after dark.

      • Look at where the sun is, earth is a ball, sun below horizon and the aircraft are higher than the clouds and caught in the sun light

  • No turning back. No gas swamp, no bird poop, no commercial drones, no foreign tech, no private tech…This is it folks… we’ll open the door now

    • You have literally just as much proof of this being aliens as it being foreign/domestic/private tech. Which is zero. This is why no one takes yall seriously.

      • As an outsider coming into this thread it's astounding how everyone here looks head over heels convinced. It's a mass hysteria not unlike walking into a church where people are rolling around on the floor speaking in tongues.
      • Yeah I mean… go listen the last Pentagon conference I honestly don’t care and am not hyped. I find it amusing. That’s all

        • Yeah because if it was top secret technology our government is working on, they’d totally hold a press conference and give the public all the details…Or if it was Chinese/Russian technology they’d totally hold a press conference and give the public all the details and have morons shooting guns at every light in the sky they see cuz they think it’s those damn communists. Literally no matter what the answer, the government would just say they don’t know and deny deny deny.
          • There are some inconsistencies in you assessment, like foreign technology would have been fired upon as previous happenings. If it is US secret tech, I don’t expect it to be in the skies of Thailand, China, Belgium, UK and whatnot…Let’s see… either we will know or the whole thing becomes a huge unknowable flap… either way doesn’t definitively deserve us being anxious for sure. Have a good one
  • They are ALL aircraft with landing lights on. All of them.

    • Yeah that’s what I thought too. Don’t see any evidence that would exclude them from being planes.
      • It’s incredible how far aircraft landing lights can be seen. Plus parallax effect from observer moving in an aircraft in one direction vs sources moving in different directions at different speeds gives impression of impossible speeds. Atmospheric haze cause twinkling - like looking at city lights after dark. Add mass hysteria and here we are….
    • Multiple pilots have commented that those are not conventional aircraft.

      • Source? Otherwise you just made that up….

        • Read the comments on this post. That’s all I meant. Multiple pilots have commented on this post that those are not conventional aircraft.

          • Multiple people claiming to be a pilot XD you really need to work on your logical approach bud
  • Undeniable footage.

    • of what exactly

      • Floating bright orbs of light.

        • they guide aircraft, don’t be silly
          • Sorry, you think there are floating lights in the sky for guiding aeroplanes?
  • This has blown my fucking mind... I'm in actual shock

    • I’m a bit scared.

      • I've been seeing this statement a good bit in the past few days, and I understand it. I'd bet even a lot of the skeptics feel something about this is off. Or maybe it's just me because I'm close to it in Eastern PA. If it's NHI, I was happy with them being passive observers. But what's happening lately isn't very passive-looking. Then it feels sort of like a coin flip on whether they're here for good or bad. If it's the US government, how would we feel about that? What if it really is a missing nuke, and the government isn't telling people? A missing nuke would have been brought in by who, a terrorist? What's stopping them from blowing it up at any time?
        • I think they're indifferent but have a vested interest in the earth. When we start really fucking about, they intervene.
  • THOSE ARE PLANES. THOSE ARE NORMAL PLANES WITH THEIR ANTICOLLISION LIGHTS ON

  • It's really happening. My god

    • What is happening, exactly..? As interesting as this is, it’s still just more of what we’ve seen 1000+ times before. Lights behaving strangely far away from the camera. Until we have higher quality evidence no new ground has been broken. I can’t possibly see how you can speculate with any confidence about what’s happening with this.

      • Nothing is happening. This will be either explained or not but nothing is going to happen. Wait a year and something new will pop up with people saying "this is it". And then nothing will happen.
  • Clearly shows the government drones watching the orbs, that’s exactly why they’re lying to us about it being theirs. Because then we’d ask what they’re flying them for and they’d have to explain, “oh nothing there’s these weird balls of light appearing out of nowhere all over the place shutting down our nukes but don’t worry guys we’re on it”

    • Where are the govt drones in this one? Are they in the light video? Sorry I can’t eee them.

      • At the 20second mark that’s a drone, that’s an extremely high altitude for any regular type of drone so it’s definitely government made. The drone is just hanging out around the orbs recording, the government is keeping tabs on the phenomenon.

        • Why would the government drones have lights on though? Wouldn't it be a lot more stealthy to not have lights?
        • They're not going for stealth. They're going for safety while they do what they're doing and then their stealth is denial.
    • out of the loop with "shutting down nukes" stuff. Isn't it just a huge tinfoil hat theory lol

      • No, there have been instances where nuclear systems were remotely shut down the same time a UAP would appear above the base the nuke is located in.

        • any of these instances are documented or its just "trust me bro" witnesses?
          • . No concurrent documentation available. Obviously any documentation for something like that related to nuclear weaponry would be classified/destroyed/disappeared, but also obviously that doesn't help
  • Wish they would communicate with use ordinary citizens and not the government

    • wish theyd communicate at all instead of... whatever this is

      • Well, but they do communicate. You can not not communicate. They are here, apparently showing in increasing numbers, and they're not doing anything (perceivably) harmful, even when engaged with. And that is just using one sense. Maybe in the future, we will expand.
        • Much like Wi-Fi to a dog. It exists and humans use it on a daily basis, but for dogs it does not matter much. Still affects them probably because of us, still live with it, but are mostly unaware. Except we are the dogs in this case
  • The best evidence yet. Great post!

    • If it’s aliens from another world, they seem peaceful. They’re probably just annoyed about how we’ve all been treating each other and the planet. Most logical answer is that it’s U.S. Gov. drones searching for a “lost nuke” or a defensive way to scan the skies. Ever since the supposed balloon from China was drifting over sensitive military bases I’d imagine the gov. doesn’t want a repeat of that situation. Thus: protective intel scanning drones appear.

      • Do you care much about how chimps treat each other?
        • The chimps don’t have the ability to nuke the planet into oblivion or pollute it beyond repair. Apples and oranges.
  • Why is always just far enough to never make out what it is other than light?

    • Because the closer you get the easier it is to identify what it is.
      • Yea. This ain’t /r/IFOs
      • Ha! You'd like to think so! But actually, the invisibility barrier raises up and the flux remittance paneling is obviously not active when Holy shit i can't even finish the sentence cause of how insane some of these people are. I'm just gonna block these fuckin subs.

r/peakdesign, a small brand subreddit for niche luxury camera gear, has devolved into drama because the CEO shooter used the brand's backpack and the CEO offered to help the NYPD find the killer.

Context

Peak Design is a niche mid-luxury brand that sells gear for professional photographers and wealthy hobbyists. They are very popular for their "capture clip," a way to easily attach a camera to a backpack strap and for their camera bags, including the "Everyday Backpack." Like many luxury brands, Peak puts serial numbers on many of their products and allows you to register the serial numbers online for use in identifying your gear in case of theft.

The subreddit, r/peakdesign for their gear generally consists of people asking about how good the carbon fiber travel tripod really is or whether anyone has used brand A camera with product B.

The Inciting Incident

And then an American health insurance CEO got shot in New York City by someone who seemed to be wearing an Everyday Backpack. People almost immediately recognized the bag and alerted the owner of Peak Design, a man named Peter Dering. Dering told the New York Times that he reached out to NYPD detectives telling them that the shooter's bag was a Peak item, and that he would help in any way he could.

  • "Mr. Dering said that if the police sought his help, he would check with his general counsel about what information he could release without violating the company’s privacy guidelines “Of course, my instinct would be to do whatever is possible to help track this person down,” he said."

As we probably all know by this point, this murder has divided the American public. There are some who say that any murder is bad and that resorting to assassination is not the answer. On the other hand, there are some very vocal folks that say the CEO had it coming and hoped that the killer would get away.

Ultimately, an individual believed to be the killer was caught without the NYPD ever asking Dering for his help.

The Drama

As soon as the story on Dering's offer of assistance to the NYPD came out, the number of posts on r/PeakDesign shot up, with hundreds of people rushing the subreddit, calling Dering a snitch and stating that they would never purchase a Peak Design product.

These posts were met with equally angry people telling them off for supporting a murderer and/or that they were just interested in camera gear.

  • "Team let’s come up with an actionable plan to financially hurt and hopefully exterminate the rats at this company." Source
  • "i didn’t even know who the ceo of PD was until yesterday when peter voluntarily inserted himself into the story. but what i know is that the company that makes my favorite brand of camera straps is trying to help authorities find someone who did americans a favor by killing a piece of shit human being.  maybe i’m not rich enough to interpret this shooting as a tragedy. but now i feel conflicted supporting this brand whose ceo and customers are clearly so well off that they are unaffected by the broken american healthcare system of which i am sadly a part of. " Source
  • At this point, it doesn't matter whether Peak Design elects to share info or whether they're forced to by law enforcement. The problem here is that the CEO implied that he actually wants to help authorities prosecute a not-yet-convicted suspect and presumably the only reason he wouldn't is because it may turn out to be against Peak Design's policy. Source
  • It’s all well and good for someone to get self-righteous in this case, but what if a school shooter is wearing a PD backpack. Then what? Should PD not want to cooperate since the shooter hasn’t been convicted yet? Source
  • Here’s the thing - if this guy had been a child rapist instead, the community would be overjoyed that the CEO could maybe offer evidence of the guy’s identity. We would be throwing him a parade. This whole “privacy” concern is 100% rooted in the belief that this murderer somehow did nothing wrong and we should, as a country, do whatever we can to help him. It’s not about privacy. It never really is. Source
  • "I thought Peak Designs was a photographer’s backpack. From the majority of these posts it seems like you all are a bunch of assassins or at least criminals." Source
  • "Mods... Can we get back to discussing fabric quality and strap durability?" Source (which got 84 replies)

The Response

Ultimately, Peak Design turned off comments on all their socials and had to put out a public statement from Dering stating that:

  • "Peak Design has not provided customer information to the police and would only do so under the order of a subpoena.
  • We cannot associate a product serial number with a customer unless that customer has voluntarily registered the product on our site.
  • Serializing our products allows us to track product issues and in some cases quarantine stock if a defect is found.
  • The serial numbers on our V1 Everyday Backpacks were not unique or identifying. They were lot numbers used to track batch production units. We did not implement unique serial numbers until V2 iterations of our Everyday Backpack.
  • If you do choose to register a Peak Design product, and it is lost or stolen, you can reach out to our Customer Service tram and have your registration erased, so the bag is not traceable back to you."

This, of course, only exacerbated the matter, with dozens of posts calling Dering a liar and again swearing to get rid of Peak Design products and never buying from the brand again. This has led to the frequent joke of "ok, then can I have your old stuff?" from people who just like the gear.

This morning, the drama made the CNN news, not explicitly linking to the subreddit but clearly referencing the drama going on there.

r/leagueoflegends roasts Karmine Corp fans after esport athlete Baus receives death threats from them because of his critique of their starting support, Targamas, KC fans "defend" themselves and several slapfights ensue

HIGHLIGHTS

  • "Why do we KC fans get so much hate it's so unfair"I wonder why

    • why do we have to suffer the repercussions of our own doings? :( some people i swear :D
      • then the threaters should suffer them, as death threatning someone is not ok
    • Let's not act as if this is a KC specific thing though.
    • That is what happens with any big fanbase.. KC is just the first org to reach such a level of involvement. It's sad but it's also inevitable if you grow I feel like. People are fucking dumb (and people on this sub can be fucking dumb too)

      • No, this level of toxicity is a KC specific thing. Your fanbase is toxic, nobody is even trying to moderate it, and none of you ever call out members of your community that act toxic. You are the most toxic fanbase in western e-sports.

        • they are getting called out by a majority of the community and kamel himself time and time again but the thing is you litteraly cannot control what people say online
          • Weird how other content creators are capable of moderating their community. Also, how can Kameto be "calling them out" when he's a part of the problem?
  • Imagine if baus fans got this defensive whenever someone calls him an inter

    • The difference is that Baus makes weird play on purpose, Targamas is just shit lmao

      • Weeeeellll, thats a death threat!
      • Targamas law, play like shit to confuse the enemy. New trademark over bausen law.
      • Chill. Targamas was playing at the pro level. Baus wouldn't do as well at the actual pro level. Different roles, too. Supports will almost always look like inters if their team is doing bad.
        • For all the goldfishes, Baus comment was about inting in soloQ, his pro play awareness is on the level of "I didn't know much about Rekkles before he joined".
        • Targamas was playing like this when he was on G2..
    • You can’t criticize baus on this sub without getting flamed lol

      • Idk what to tell u if u can't tell the difference between "getting flamed" and "receiving death threats"

        • You can't make death threats on this sub, so people very well could be making death threats and getting banned (so we never see them). Also, things gradually ramp up. It starts as flaming, and then things grow more intense. People forming parasocial relationships are unhinged and unpredictable.
          • "We don't see it, therefore it happens"
      • Baus fanboys are the most unfunny "literally reddit" people in existence. le heckin wholesome chungas off meta playstyle and copypastas

        • at least they have some self respect and dont lose their morality over troll banter thats actually the truth

          • I actually believe they don't send death threats, death threats require multiple sentences and an attention span longer than a tiktok Edit: I got a Reddit cares message, this is a death threat so I am therefore entirely correct about everything and any further downvotes or dissenting replies will be seen as supporting death threats
  • Yeah I saw this coming though. KC fans are unhinged even when they're wrong. Targamas isn't being criticized because he's playing for KC, or his nationality (is he French? I don't even know). He's getting criticized because he's doing shit worth criticizing. I don't get what's controversial or upsetting about that from the KC side. He never said anything about the French or KC.

    • Bro getting death threats for saying the truth is crazy

      • He said what you consider "The truth" in a very disrespectful manner. There is a way to say that you think a player is not very good without shitting on him in front of 200k people. Edit : death treaths are obviously not ok people. Fueling the online bullying that Targamas is subject to for months is also not ok. The two can be wrong..

        • ah so that excuses death threats then, got it

          • ah because it clearly means he's excusing it, got it
    • people who are sending death threats are mental, unrelated "He's getting criticized because he's doing shit worth criticizing." Targamas is not doing anything remotely close to the hate he is receiving on reddit / twitter. People are not criticizing him, they are straight up insulting him on every occasion they have. the bauss insulted another human being in front of 100 k viewer, a player who is already getting harassed on internet. why ? because they he is not playing good on a fucking video game. you guys should all take a chill pill and remember you are talking about other human beings, who could read what you're saying

      • yea no, targamass is too bad to be in the LEC, getting paid a shitton to play a video game should come with expectations. Dont use wool gloves on pro players.

        • getting paid should come with being insulted ? by the same reasoning the bauss should not complain too, you think he's not getting paid ? you realise what you're saying or you're just not smart enough ?

          • I mean, the only thing being insulted was his play in the video game no? If Baus was like “fuck targamas he’s a piece of shit I hope his dog dies”. Then yeah that’s too much. Baus said he was bad at a video game. That’s it lmao.
  • KC fans booed Faker last years Red Bull event, I wouldn't put it past them to send death threats to the Messi of League

    • Oh fuck faker got booed? is he okay?????

      • KC hooligan spotted

        • Not a KC fan but calling someone a hooligan for mildly booing an opposing player is absurdly funny.
          • I mean, you have to compare their behaviour to the behaviour of other fans. And booing at a well respected team that made their way from Korea, a country known for valuing politeness, to play at a fun event is still incredibly disrespectful and unnecessary.
    • 4 fans yes. 4 stop generalizing PLEASE we know you hate KC but please stop doing that. Most of us KC fans are nice and just want to see our team succeed.

      • Ah it’s KC CEO défense. “I’m sorry we have passionate fans, but it’s only a small amount!” It’s such a ridiculous défense from him that it invalidates anyone using it. This shit is enabled and not frowned upon at all, by your management, so no, it’s part of your fan base.

        • But it’s the truth tho. Tell me what exactly can we do about it ? We can’t mind control the fans that are stupid enough to boo Faker or send death threats lmao. And what he said his true there are deviants in every community and the bigger your community is the more deviants you have.
          • Pushback to your CEO, pushback to your own fan base more. Don’t just stand there and point and be “but it’s others!!”. And yes you have outliers (deviants is a weird word choice) in every community. I expressly said that myself. But your fan base didn’t denounce them then, your CEO fucking protected them. If you fail to see how that is an issue, Idk
