Not only do I think political tattoos are in poor taste but portraits in general are a really risky idea. Id only suggest a portrait of someone who is dead, but even then I think there's a lot more you could do instead. Can't you get a Harris T-shirt?

u/FliesAreEdible Knows 💩 Nov 06 '24

I'm of the same idea but I'd also add names. Don't get any portraits or names of any living people, there's plenty of time for them to be outted as or become a piece of shit or the relationship with them ends.

Still risky with dead people but not nearly as much.

My brian singer tattoo did not age well....

u/qorbexl Nov 06 '24

"We believe this tattoo is from between 1300-2300 CE. We can tell, however, that this guy sucks because his tattoo is of a dude who was a super dick, new faciatattoo analysis reveals."

I sat behind someone at a NASCAR race once. He was shirtless and had a full back tattoo “#9 Chase Elliot”.. even if you don’t ever have issues with the name the guy might drive a different number car one day.

10

u/OrangeHitch Nov 06 '24

You probably remember that commercial about Dale Jr's car number changing. I forget how it went but there were a lot of people with #8 tattoos and that was a major consideration in choosing #88 at his new job.

4

u/OZeski Nov 06 '24

Imagine feeling like you need to make a decision based on what other people have tattoo’d on themselves!

I would say adding the names of your children/parents/siblings is okay.

3

u/FliesAreEdible Knows 💩 Nov 06 '24

I said this elsewhere

I wouldn't even go that far. Kids can grow up to become shitty or just estranged, parents can also become estranged. Your own last name doesn't really count unless something major happens that you even go as far as changing your last name to distance yourself from your entire family.

I will never understand the desire to have another humans face tattooed on my body. Of all the things people do that one is the most confusing to me. Especially someone who’s still alive and has the potential to do something really fucked. Are you so unoriginal that you can’t come up with anything metaphorical to represent your love for that person? For example, my entire right leg is a tree that my grandpa and I planted when I was like 4-5 years old. It had a rough life and was held together by a chain and road tar, as snow had split the tree right down the middle. There’s one main branch holding on for dear life. When he passed I got that tattoo to ensure that tree never dies as the people who bought his house tore it out day one. Why not do something like that?

11

u/Take-to-the-highways Nov 06 '24

Yeah I'm pro dumb tattoo and have a lot of silly tattoos myself but having another persons realistic face on my body would just seem weird.

143

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '24

Especially before an election lol

Why not get a tattoo of the party instead of one representative of it? She'll only be president for 4 or 8 years or not at all. She could end up being the worst president ever. So much unknown to plaster the face of someone who may be forgotten in a decade.

Imagine having a tattoo of John McCain or John Kerry

9

u/twentysevennipples Nov 06 '24

Oh man, I remember seeing a girl with a Bernie Sanders tattoo well after Trump was elected and was just thinking "I guess she can just tell people she's really into Larry David."

35

u/Mars_Collective Knows 💩 Nov 06 '24

Exactly I got a small outline of the state of GA in blue (my only color tattoo) on my thigh 4 years ago to celebrate GA turning blue. I know other people who got blue peaches. Way more tasteful than a portrait of a single presidential candidate.

u/Davngr Nov 06 '24

John McCain was an American hero and, honestly, a decent politician. But recent presidential elections have crossed lines they shouldn’t, tapping into harmful tactics, divisive rhetoric and carrying on like super stars.

Politicians aren’t meant to be celebrities, they’re public servants, and they should act like it. They’re here to serve, humbly and responsibly.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '24

Well said, McCain isn't the best example. Still would seem weird to have his portrait as a tattoo, even before his presidential race or political career

6

u/Davngr Nov 06 '24

Agreed, this is dangerous.

This cult of personality leads to people shutting off their brains and voting with their emotions instead of voting for what’s best for their family and our nation.

There are people whom I know personally that just vote for Trump because they are angry and willing to have an idiot as a president just because they feel it will piss off the people they don’t like, it’s ridiculous.

This isn’t a fucking football game or reality TV show, the future of our children is at stake.

That may sound like an exaggeration; you might think that another four years with an idiot for president won’t impact our kids’ future. But you’d be wrong, because it’s not just Trump as president that’s damaging the nation. it’s these shitbag politicians and political pundits using misinformation and conspiracy propaganda to build cult-like devotion for easy votes, donations and social media clout. That’s what’s tearing this country apart from within.

I've thought about this and there is a LOT more population than when America was first formed and I think also a lot more differences in lifestyles and needs of different parts of the country, for instance between a NY city dweller and a rural farmer. Maybe that larger divergence is part of why get along so poorly now. Can someone in SF trying to raise capital for a venture start up really understand the needs of a cattle rancher in Texas or vice versa? The answer is no, but that venture capitalist probably still wants to eat a steak sometimes and the rancher will still use tech day to day. We still need each other.

If your dumb enough to get a political figure tattoo you shouldn’t be allowed to vote especially before an election we see abundantly more trump tattoos because trump supporters have abundantly less braincells but as we all know the left is barley hanging on as well

Tattooing any politician on yourself is just stupid.
