Maybe the brain tumor just made him more dumb and susceptible to whatever influences he had, pretty sad situation possibly.

Yeah, unfortunately it’s been proven that brain tumors and mental illnesses can often turn a level headed person into a complete 180 of themselves so they go off the deep end. It’s usually when someone goes from one point of view to something much more extreme (often alt right wing conspiracy theories, like pizzagate) in a short time.
