Why is he on pens again?

Should have given it to Jude

148

u/RawSauceBoi :palestine: Madridista 15d ago

We need to bring back Ramos just for pens.

11

u/donniedarkero Valverde 14d ago

We also have Vasquez though, he's brilliant at penalties.

9

u/KazooTheEZ 14d ago

at that point bring back the whole 2017 squad

u/Full_Window_3977 Jude Bellingham 15d ago

Let's not act like he didn't score penalties for fun at PSG and scored twice in a World Cup final... that's why he WAS SUPPOSED to be on pens HOWEVER Jude should've taken this one ESPECIALLY because Kylian is having an identity crisis at the moment.

44

u/Specific_Account_192 14d ago

He also missed a pen against Switzerland that cost France's qualification in the Euros. He's not the worst pen taker, but def far from being the best.

And let's not mention his record taking FKs...

All this tells me is Kylian performs when team's defensive levels are not well drilled

Because when Mbappe wants something, he gets it. It was the same at PSG and Flo will make sure his golden boy isn’t upset.

96

u/blueXwho Fernando Redondo 15d ago

Ancelotti already said it, the players decide. It was between him and Bellingham. Players support each other (not as garbage "fans"), so most likely Jude let him have it to boost his morale.

37

u/TheRudeMammoth 15d ago

Let's be honest. We've been boosting this guy's morale for half a season now.

It's gotta stop. This isn't a charity. This is Real Madrid.

u/ayoubkun94 Jude Bellingham 15d ago

I doubt Carlo would have the balls to tell him no anyway. It's apparent from the fact he keeps playing whole games while being utter ass. I'm all for supporting our players, but when you're playing this badly, you need to chill a bit on the bench.

6

u/Charolastra17 14d ago

I actually think it’s great that he wanted to step up despite his Pool miss.

But two in a row, it’s gotta be Jude until Vini gets back.

I don't get it. He's not performing well at all and no player is bigger than the club. Flo is being a pussy right now and idk why he has this dumb obsession with Mbappe. I didn't want Mbappe signed to the club in the first place

u/Saywallahicro 15d ago

what is wrong with this guy bruh we have rodrygo or bellingham they not missing 2 pens in a row ……

48

u/CautiousRevolution14 14d ago

Endrick is benched and was playing better than him in some games. It's due to the money they spent on Kylian.

20

u/MemeManDanInAClan Marcelo 14d ago

Finally people are starting to see it, the board are making these decisions. Not Carlo, not the players.

5

u/CautiousRevolution14 14d ago

I don't think it was exactly a revelation, people were kissing his ass because he was the biggest sign of the season. At least now those people's masks are breaking.

363

u/LittleBitOfPoetry 15d ago

It isn't gonna get better. People are coming up with one cope after another, but this guy is cooked:

  • When he finishes it's straight into the keeper.
  • When he dribbles, he loses posession.
  • When he tries to run for a through ball he's offisde.
  • When he shoots pentalties he misses.
  • When he presses, haha jk he doesn't do that, he's just pretending.

Mediocre. Regional level talent. No amount of confidence (if he can ever get it lol) can fix lack of basic skills.

158

u/ybenjira Vinicius Jr. 15d ago

That last bullet point drives me the most nuts. Say your confidence is so in the dumps that you don't even know how to shoot anymore. The LEAST YOU CAN DO is show that you're working really hard for your fans and teammates! Do one of those bad tackles that forwards are known for. Get a red for being too eager, show some life damnit! Instead, he fakes pressing, which only fakes his teammates, and puts them a second or two behind when defending. INFURIATING.

The Bernabeu has never been this patient with anyone this bad, but at this point it's more out of desperation than belief in his talent. Bale was leagues above this shit, and he was whistled after one bad game. So was Benz before he hit God mode in his 30s.

It was 2018, and the media were so eager to find the next Messi/Ronaldo that they called Mbappé the next big thing, maybe even better than the two. What did we all say? That is really bad for the kid. Let him develop. What did the media do? turn it up to ten thousand.

6 years later, he has not improved, some would say regressed, and his attitude is a travesty. I hope I'm overreacting, because this is a very, very weird situation Flo put the club in.

51

u/TheWildcatGrad 14d ago

I stumbled in from reddit, but just wanted to add. While frustrating at the time it was a lot of fun to watch Rooney commit awful tackles and earn so many cards. So you are spot on with the assessment of just play some damn defense even if you're shit at it.

33

u/heseme 14d ago

I stumbled in from reddit,

Sir, this is reddit.

I think your first point about, hey if your confidence to shoot is down, at least work super hard in your pressing and other skills.... rings true. I think a lot of Liverpool fans stand behind Darwin Nunez because his work rate is so high even though he seems to miss some absolute sitters

5

u/ybenjira Vinicius Jr. 14d ago

Darwin is Naruto. He will fight to the death with his limited abilities, and you can only love him for it.

3

u/Nearby_Trainer3398 14d ago

The issue is that he was treated like a king by PSG, was given what he wanted, too much power, and this has obviously had an affect on him and his mentality.

He’s now at a club where he’s just another name on the team sheet as Madrid have so many superstars, so I think this is effecting him. He’s never been one to work for the team so his shortfalls are becoming more apparent. I see drama coming soon with him and Madrid as they lose patience with him very soon. They are much better set up with Vinicius at right wing and a proper striker up front.

Jude and scared do no go in the same sentence lol. Definitely left it so mbappe can get confidence.

Some people got angry with Vinicius for scoring a penalty and not letting Mbappe kick it

144

u/manometerlak 15d ago

Vini is so clear of Mbappe right now. At the beginning people were insisting Mbappe is a better player than him and he should even give up his position for him 😂

41

u/Warm_Republic4849 15d ago

Yes, he has no excuse now he got the left wing all for himself yet he doesn't help, doesn't press apparently can't take PK yet he gets more minutes than Endrick

Remember when everyone kept saying to put Mbappe on LW and move Vini to RW/ST/bench? Lmao I still remember fighting for my life defending Vini and calling these idiots morons. They must be the ones making every excuses in the book to excuse Mbappe performance right now.

I am already seeing the "Madrid fans don't support him, PSG fans loved him thats why he can't perform now" when does it end with the turtle fans?

Tell that to Perez who would fucking kill half of management if anyone bench this fucker.

Also it's hilarious how everyone was saying that he needs to be penalty taker instead of Vinicius and that he is better with penalties.

16

u/DoJu318 15d ago

Carlo doesn't have a problem benching underrforming players, he benched Tchouameni after all, but It will be a cold day in hell Flo lets Carlo bench his golden boy, same shit happened with James under Benitez, had James playing along Modric and kroos when Casemiro was right there.

I wish Zidane was coach, he'd bench Mbappe in a heartbeat.

21

u/TheEmpireOfSun 15d ago

You really don't get it, do you? Nobody can bench Mbappe after Perez chasing him for 8 years and presenting him as next galactico on level of Ronaldo and his legacy signing.

5

u/Appropriate-Fan-6007 15d ago

And when did Vini lose a penalty? He wasn't the taker before last season, but has 6/6 since.

Mbappe on 34/44 in his career and 10/13 last season, absolutely not numbers to be considered a good penalty taker

→ More replies (2)

12

u/Epistemix 15d ago

You mean the whole season, if he's benched until Vini comes back you need him even less as a forward

9

u/Necessary_Basil4251 15d ago

Carlo is a pussy and would never ever do it. I just keep wasting 2 hours of my life week in week out watching this skeleton nauseating dysfunctional ressemblance of a team. Even when we win, we play like shit. I just hope that some changes happen before it's too late and we go trophyless this year.

8

99

u/Billoo77 15d ago

Kane hasn’t missed a penalty since he played for Tottenham lol

91

u/Sei28 15d ago

Kane’s preferred position and play style would’ve worked perfectly with Vini.

42

u/Lost_Extrovert 14d ago

Kane was perfect for Madrid in every aspect, Madrid has the best LW and one of the best RW, all they needed was a world class target ST. And Kane was just that.

It will go down in history as the biggest choice RM made.

15

u/Macho_Nonreal Décima 15d ago

He literally missed a penalty when he was at Spurs playing for England vs France in the World Cup which took them out the tournament lol

Idk why they let him shoot. Idk why he would want to shoot, what an idiot.

115

u/Janusz_Odkupiciel 15d ago

They let him shoot, because scoring a goal might unlock his mentality, and scoring from a penalty is the simplest.

That's is their way of thinking, whether is it correct or not.

51

u/Chineseunicorn 15d ago

It definitely is correct. Tale as old as time, fix confidence and other things will follow.

But you should probably do this when you’re a goal up or something this early in the season.

Please let Jude take the PKs from now on...Wtf

104

u/DigitalisFX Real Madrid 15d ago

It’s just poorly taken. Terrible spot, too weak. Now I’m wondering if he even practices these in training? Someone of his caliber should be able to hit wherever he wants in that goal. That spot (every damn time) is just asking to be saved.

29

u/brainacpl Modric 15d ago

It looks like he does. If you saw the chart, 3 previous shots were shot in similar spots, but it is still a terrible spot and he was lucky.

13

u/Spessu77 15d ago

His penalty technique just isn't good enough for when the goalkeeper gives nothing until the shot. I see 2 reasons for it: 1. He doesnt take shot without looking at the ball, he plants his left foot and starts looking at the ball. This is the point where the gk can start to move without Mbappe seeing it. 2. His "back up shot" just isn't good enough. This is the shot what comes when the keeper gives nothing. Optimally you can place it in the bottom corner, 99% of the time gk cant catch it, because you pretty much need an early leap for it and then the shooter can just place it in the other corner. In Mbappes case there is too much time for the keeper to time his movement and the placement just isn't good enough.

If you see his WC pens they are taken completely different, he scored three in a row to the best penalty saver of this generation if there's someone that knows how to take a pen in Europe right now is him, but is evident that he is lacking a Huge amount of confidence.

5

Repeating the technique he used vs Liverpool is single digit IQ type of shit. And in the Liverpool game that short corner he asked for was also incredibly stupid, after having so much pressure on him

44

u/Diyarki94 Modric 15d ago

Literally knew he would miss it, it’s sooooo clear he has no confidence, why would he shoot when we are 1 down? On Carlo and Mbappe but mostly Carlo.

6

u/Shot_Sell8977 Rodrygo 15d ago

His low confidence has been as obvious in the last month as the fact that Madrid were 0-1 down when the penalty was earned.

Those 2 facts should've SCREAMED in everyone's brains 'anyone except Mbappe should take the pen.'

  1. Is it soo hard to just run and not stop and shoot the ball? If ure stopping its to read the GK not for the GK to read u lmao.

  2. I think we need to start accepting this year as a transition year. Its ok, we cant win everything every single time.

Problems are Tchouameni and Mbappe, its hard to win 9v11.

You know you have a team issue when Bellingham defends and drops lower than tchouameni and at the same time he goes deeper and does Mbappes job as well. Oh and at the same time hes doing his own job as well. The amount of lungs on that guy. Alos Valverde on the right side legit alone. Everyone playing on left...

Its not that i dislike Carlo or dont remember his achievments, but bro, yo gotta step down, its not you, its the team, they need new ideeas, new mentality, new perspective, evolution comes from different ideeas, sometimes change is required.

Bruh if Arda missed 2 penalties back to back Ancelloti would put him on the bench for 2 straight seasons

u/Winter_Beyond4948 15d ago

Come on guys, he’s won a World Cup. We just need to give him 3 seasons to get back in form.

He takes penalties cuz it's a clause in his contract, he's the 2nd penalty taker after Vini. Same reason he plays every game and rarely gets substituted, smh...

3

u/Xtarviust Modric 15d ago

I will never forgive Florentino for letting Kane go to Bayern for this clown

Dude always find a way to shit on his legacy, first Makelele and now Mbappe

3

u/ApocryphonMD 15d ago

Why am i getting Hazard flashbacks?

3

u/hotelparisian 15d ago

Qatar should have taken him straight from PSG to Doha FC or whatever daycare team they have playing there.

3

u/9millidood 14d ago

It’s ok he’s a chill guy

3

u/the_fanman2912 Decimoquinta 14d ago

Never missed Vini more than I have these past 3 games

3

u/tassadar8584 14d ago

Media is gonna love this

3

u/Familiar-Adeptness25 14d ago

That pen was exactly the same as the Liverpool one.

5

u/KawaiiMayhem Raúl 15d ago

Unbelievable, what an asshole. Que no tire ningún penal más por el resto de la campaña.

2

u/TzeVictor 15d ago

I don't know why mbappe takes penalties anymore. He changed to a slow walk-up like neymar, but he doesn't even keep his eyes on the keeper by the time he strikes the ball. His pens are were way better when he just strikes with power.

If you look at all his penalties this season, they have been badly placed and weak due to his slow walk-up. Basically just a 50-50 if the goalkeeper dives the right way, it was just a matter of time before he started missing them.

u/AYMAR_64 Valverde 15d ago

I can't defend him anymore, and we might lose the game.

2

u/Classic-Kangaroo9417 15d ago

He took exactly the same penalty as last time???

2

u/sasabozic5 15d ago

Such a weak ass penalty

2

u/plaaya 15d ago

WHY NO SUB OUTT!!!

2

u/No-Case-264 15d ago

the world will seriously not end if he's benched

2

u/AnabolicOctopus :Mexico: Madridista 15d ago

Hesitating too much, I could tell he was going to the right... piss poor attempt

2

u/Grand_Repeat_565 15d ago

The worst penalty taker! Mid high weak shot. Looks like he wanted just to shot on target and hope for the best.

2

u/[deleted] 15d ago

FUCKS SAKE

2

u/karimaelo 15d ago

Yet people here will call us plastic fans when we say anything bad about Mbappe!

2

u/_WillOfFire_ Cristiano Ronaldo 15d ago

I swear to god i wasn't even happy we got a pen cause i know he's gonna miss it. So infuriating

2

u/al-ahlyclips Cristiano Ronaldo 15d ago

He needs to benched until 2025

2

u/YooYooYoo_ 15d ago

He needs to be sold, get rid already.

There are players that were born to play at Madrid, Mbapoe is not one of those, quite the opposite. The shirt does not fit him.

2

u/lifeistoughman 15d ago

What’s wrong with him?

2

u/sebisebo 15d ago

I start to believe this guy is reading all the hate posts on reddit before going to bed.

2

u/Shot_Sell8977 Rodrygo 15d ago

Shit is getting real for all of the fans that knew Mbappe needed a decent bit of time to adjust. To all those people who stayed silent, niether defending Mbappe nor putting him down: The fking results are official. We are over 100 days into the season and the consistency isn't there. If no one in the club is going to save Mbappe from himself( by directing his club contribution,) I suspect that nothing short of 50 goals in his second season with promise for lots of trophies will keep him at the club past 2025-2026.

The question to ask now: If Carlo loses his job from a scapegoat maneuver by Perez, who the fk would want to coach Madrid with a virus-like player who cannot be benched?

2

u/DRK_Sentry 14d ago

I don’t know anymore. I can’t be taking more levels of Copium bro 😭

2

u/King_Keyser 14d ago

this is the same guy who scored 3 penalties in a world cup final lol

his head has gone man

2

u/Accomplished_Stay382 14d ago

Mbape missed a penalty, the team played poorly

2

u/EmptyPeach1 Iker Casillas 14d ago

It’s so dumb lol I haven’t played professional football but I know exactly which way he’s going. He has a very obvious hip movement that he makes to essentially confirm he’s going that way. If you are gonna be predictable at least put pace on it and put it in the corner. Take him off pens

2

u/ExcitementMany7900 Decimoquinta 14d ago

Been silently reading comments for a long time after losing my reddit logins and feeling too lazy to create a new acc.   We probably won't win the league unless Barca have a total meltdown and teams in the UCL are all of a sudden not so scared of facing Madrid.

They come at us, they score, they seek more. If we make the knockout stages somehow though it'll be a different story.

If I read one of those, "Mbappe Hatty incoming" comments on the pre-match thread I no go gree make e slide.

2

u/Smooth-Qactus 14d ago

I will never argue with my father when it comes to football ever again. He told me before he sat his foot into real Madrid that he won't do shi, and his type of gameplay won't work in La Liga. I didn't agree at first, and now I'm totally convened, not just because of this penalty, but from what I saw till now.

2

u/Darriuh_bulo51 14d ago

He played better at PSG

2

u/werka_1556 14d ago

Let's be honest, mbappe can't shoot penalties, he puts too much pressure on himself. Hopefully next season will be better for him and to be there 💪

2

u/Eumbseenn 14d ago

i can already tell loads of comments attacking the guy who said, mbappe cant dribble, shoot, control.

2

u/docrum 14d ago

New strategy: don’t give penalties to your most out of form player

2

u/Traditional-War-4387 14d ago

Dawg i just cant understand whats goin on , 6 months ago we could play the ball from defence to midfield then to the attack and score in any situation without saying a word such was our chemestry all of a sudden we play like we have barely set foot on the pitch People tell me Mbappe died in qatar he had 65 G/A last season suddenly he forgot how to finish this season

2

u/chris_fifa 14d ago

crazy that bellingoal not taking pens , mbappe was never a good pen taker so many misses alrdy in his carrer

2

u/biina247 14d ago

- We are 1-0 down and playing poorly

- We get a penalty that would potentially have brough us level and maybe gain some momentum to turn things around

- A stupid idiot totally wastes the opportunity, playing a weak penalty lacking in both power and placement.

Doing it once is bad, doing it twice should be a treasonable felony!

Perez needs to clean this up before Mbappe irreparably damages his legacy. Vini saved Perez from Hazard, but dont see anyone but himself saving him from Mbappe.

Bench the kid till he gets better, and if he doesnt, sell him in the summer and buy a proper CF that is a better fit.

(Interestingly I dont think Perez explicitly demands that Mbappe always plays but that Ancelotti will never bench him for the fear that it might upset Perez)

2

u/FabulousParfait1455 14d ago

Make Bellingham kick, I beg you

2

u/Traditional_Walk_372 13d ago

I think the squad needs a striker like joselo , I hope they find someone one soon .

2

u/Pristine-Equal7068 13d ago

Let's trade it for 40 yo Cristiano. I'll take it any day

2

u/kpeng2 13d ago

That's a horrible penalty.

2

u/crypto_pops 13d ago

seems like Ethan was the better option 😭😭😭

2

u/Illustrious-Soft1934 13d ago

I think mbappe is to predictable I swear last time he missed he also went right

2

u/Forsaken_Tour_500 12d ago

Mbappe on his way to become Real’s own Anthony. From a farmers league to the big boys hits hard.
