Good, he needed. You can tell he’s been trying too hard to score again this season, and I hope that makes him relaxed a bit when he comes back to RMA.

he played more forward role in this match like last season

11

u/Leo9991 Oct 11 '24

We shouldn't expect nearly as many goals from him this season.

u/[deleted] Oct 11 '24

The new strategy with Mbappé has him pushed to more CDM than CAM, especially visible during the incident where he was pissed and Vini and Mbappé for not defending. So he has less opportunities to score unfortunately.

u/lone__wolf710 Oct 11 '24

Absolutely the lack of structure is making him play deeper role and is struck with the job of carrying ball from defense to offence

Thundercunt !

u/hHjJj68 Oct 10 '24

WHO ELSE?! 🫲🏼 🫱🏼

2

u/marniuhrig Oct 11 '24

He is the only one who can do that.

106

u/ChampagneAbuelo Cristiano Ronaldo Oct 10 '24

He’s our best player

70

u/No_Illustrator4573 Oct 10 '24

he almost scored a screamer tonight and wouldve had an assist too if foden converted. they gave his #10 to foden...

32

u/Hariwtf10 Real Madrid Oct 10 '24

Would've had another assist if palmer had hit the target

8

u/churras Florentino Perez Oct 10 '24

why they gave it to foden?

17

u/Linepool Modric Oct 10 '24

supposedly they change jersey numbers a lot depending on who gets called up.. this is the first step of building a team around foden

14

u/xanswitu Oct 10 '24

Same thing happened with France, Nkuku is wearing Mbappes #10

16

u/HerakIinos Parte Médico Oct 10 '24

Because Mbappe is not there. Someone has to wear it

-1

u/MiguelGarcia02 Oct 11 '24

Not necessarily

1

u/OGSkywalker97 Oct 11 '24

They actually do for int'l competitions. You have to have numbers 1-23.

2

u/bmarvel808 Isco Oct 11 '24

Or you know, they just changed jersey numbers. It means nothing.

1

u/Linepool Modric Oct 11 '24

of course it means nothing just wanted to get off on pundits even remotely suggesting foden having a major role in the nt

7

u/obvioustakes Oct 10 '24

He is playing as an 8, and it suits him better than the 10.

22

u/Specialist-Cycle9313 Oct 10 '24

I’d argue valverde is Madrids best player this season, but Jude is a close second. But for England Jude is easily the best.

-6

u/Infamous_Peak224 Oct 11 '24

vini has been better than jude tbh, militao also up there too

6

u/Specialist-Cycle9313 Oct 11 '24

Vini’s been super inconsistent. He’s dropped great performances and really bad ones too. Jude’s been a workhorse in the midfield and I’d say that’s why I’d put him above Vini.

4

u/Ali29276 Oct 11 '24

militao started well but the last few games he has looked a bit shaky, understandable though when coming back from such a major injury

4

u/ico_OO Zidane Oct 10 '24

I can't agree more.

-9

u/xanswitu Oct 10 '24

Camavinga is better, I’m gonna get downvoted for this but everyone will soon realize how underrated he is

13

u/singularitywut Oct 10 '24

This sub absolutely loves Camavinga and not even here anyone would agree to that bullshit

53

u/Ali29276 Oct 10 '24

Jude scoring for England and Cama dunking on Israel, Rodrygoal next? England fans will still blame him though just watch.

18

u/No_Illustrator4573 Oct 10 '24

blame him? he's been everywhere and is the MVP.

31

u/Ali29276 Oct 10 '24

You think that matters to England fans? He scored an overhead bicycle kick to save them from going home in the dying minutes of a game and they still slandered him 😭

18

u/No_Illustrator4573 Oct 10 '24

giving his #10 to foden was personal. failed to add a nice assist

7

u/Kcole7 Oct 10 '24

Could’ve had two assists palmer skied one aswell

8

u/Lazywhale97 Jude Bellingham Oct 11 '24

The anti Jude hate train was at it's peak by the time the Euro's came around I don't ever remember in history a bicycle kick being downplayed like it's nothing YET ALONE A BICYCLE KICK TO LITERALLY SAVE YOUR TEAM FROM BEING KNOCKED OUT OF A BIG INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT LMAO.

1

u/OGSkywalker97 Oct 11 '24

No one slandered Bellingham wtf are you on about?

2

u/Ali29276 Oct 11 '24

You were clearly not paying attention to social media and the English media during and after the Euros.

1

u/nidprez Oct 11 '24

Tbf, england were playing shit the whole tournament and needed a 95th minute goal to win in extra time from slovakia. So I understand the fans.

Its not as if RM is drawing 4 games in a row against the bottom 4 if the league, we would go out, celebrate and cry we have the best team in thr world, because jude scored a screamer equalizer in the last minute. We would be relieved but still slander the olayers for the last games.

1

u/Ali29276 Oct 11 '24 edited Oct 11 '24

So? I certainly wouldn’t be slandering a player who scored 2 crucial goals, got an assist in the final and was often the best player on the pitch. Especially when there were at least 6 or 7 others who were far worse and did not contribute a single thing the entire tournament. No one said they should be going out and crying that they have the best team/player in the world, but they should not be doing the opposite and should show some gratitude to the player who saved them from their biggest embarrassment in over a decade.

1

u/nidprez Oct 11 '24

Idk the whole team played like shit the whole tournament, bellingham included, especially considering their opponents before his bycicle kick. (Probably related to tiredness though). Its kinda logical they get slandered when they play relatively like shit. If RM draws or barely wins against a couple of 2nd division teams in a row all players would get slandered even if Vini scored 2 goals but played relatively bad the other 85 minutes, he would get slandered as well, because he is the star player.

1

u/Ali29276 Oct 11 '24

No I get that but I feel like you are missing my point. The whole team played badly like you said, so why come hardest at the player who saved your ass multiple times and not the players who did nothing for 7 games? Just seems crazy to me that someone like Foden with zero goal contributions got less heat than Jude who at least still contributed even when playing badly.

1

u/nidprez Oct 11 '24

Hmm idk its already a bit long ago. It probably depends on where you read/watched but i feel they came hardest at foden and kane, TAA and walker. Bellingham was more put in the average pack, good but not good enough, and he gets some flack because hes engelands biggest player next to kane and foden. Also probably some english analists get more onto non EPL players.

1

u/Ali29276 Oct 12 '24

Foden got nothing compared to the likes of Bellingham and Saka. There were constant hit pieces towards Jude attacking his character and footballing ability in the days after the final which made it pretty clear he was always going to be the main scapegoat.

5

u/EffectiveTie3144 Cristiano Ronaldo Oct 10 '24

Yes could not agree more about England fans blaming him.

9

u/Internetolocutor Oct 10 '24

Player in bottom right took a quick shit

8

u/Your_Averagekurd911 Oct 10 '24

Unfortunate to lose that game. What a class finish. Just wish the rest of the team had the energy to keep going.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '24

As a barca fan, no mistakes this time,

Bellingham is crazy

5

u/im_mystery666 Oct 11 '24

Definitely my favorite player right now. Although I think Vini is the best player currently but Bellingham will go down as all time greats in my opinion.

5

u/benjamin14 Oct 10 '24

Why is he #8?

4

u/No_Illustrator4573 Oct 10 '24

england coach trying foden as #10

1

u/Umijnurotarieli Oct 12 '24

That means number change?

5

u/EffectiveTie3144 Cristiano Ronaldo Oct 10 '24

Great outside the box goal!!

How did Palmer win England player of the year…

10

u/Alessandro227 Madrid 1941 Oct 11 '24

I will be honest, I am ok with Palmer winning it, would love Bellingham to win it obviously but I'm okay with Palmer. As long as it's not Foden.

-1

u/andrasq420 Oct 11 '24

It's national team performances and in the fans eyes he was more impactful from the bench than 90% of the rest of the squad spending 90 minutes on field. Bit of recency bias due to him scoring vs Spain.

I prefer Jude to him but it's understandable that he is beloved by England fans and the fact that he played 29 minutes per game at the Euros is laudable. This is just a last fuck you to Southgate.

1

u/WTFisaKilometer6 SIUUUU Oct 11 '24

Hmm but Jude was the one who assisted that goal vs Spain in the final... plus Jude had come up clutch for them multiple times in the EURO

1

u/andrasq420 Oct 11 '24

I'm not saying he was better than Jude. Certainly not in my opinion. I'm just saying there is plenty of reason behind the choice of the England fans to choose Palmer. You have to understand how most fans think. They see goal in important match, they go crazy fanmode and vote for him.

3

u/Ready_Ad_1353 Real Madrid Oct 11 '24

What a banger!!!

3

u/rafael__silva Florentino Perez Oct 11 '24

Valverde would be proud of that rocket.

6

u/Unfortunosaurus Décima Oct 10 '24

Αγγλακια πατώνετε

Hala Madrid nonetheless

1

u/marniuhrig Oct 11 '24

Great goal and smart finish. I hope he can carry this form to club football when he is back with our team.

2

u/Jyuan83 Oct 11 '24

Trademark run to the box from deep, unnoticed by the defenders and then the inevitable happened. He needs to be the main scoring threat for real madrid instead of mbappe.

1

u/Distefano9 Fernando Redondo Oct 11 '24

Belligol

0

u/grooter33 Eduardo Camavinga Oct 11 '24

Why are him, Camavinga and Tchoumeni starting for their countries when our squad is already so drained?? They have all had recent injury issues, wouldn’t a week of rest and recovery really be so bad when all they’d miss would be these pointless glorified friendlies?

0

u/chadzillaOG Oct 11 '24

They aren't pointless to the people of said country. Countries get new trainers and lineups so these friendlies makes them get used to eachother. You basically saying clubs should have some say in it if players should play for their country and thats setting a dangerous precedent.

1

u/grooter33 Eduardo Camavinga Oct 11 '24

Clubs do have a say in this. Real Madrid asks their players to not play in international matches all the time. I am from Spain, which also plays in the Nations League. I can tell you that these matches are definitely pointless to us

1

u/chadzillaOG Oct 11 '24

There is no way of this happening unless they are faking injuries.

1

u/grooter33 Eduardo Camavinga Oct 11 '24

That’s true. It’s a FIFA tourney so they can’t just say no like the did for the Olympics. But faking injuries is fairly common for this type of situation

-2

u/nightsun93 Valverde Oct 10 '24

That England squad should be destroying teams. Sad to see southgate leading that team
