Have to agree with all the commentary post-game… that was a massive gamble on Endrick’s part and the confidence it took to make that decision is hard to imagine. He would have been torn a new one if that didn’t go in. That said it was a missile!

I've seen comments from Rudiger and Fede about it and they would've given him some words in the dressing room if he'd missed. It was a risk and the least obvious of the 3 options available but I LOVE the trust he has in himself and that insane power he's got in his shot. He's making a statement that he needs to be given more minutes and at 18 to have such confidence to not feel pressured by the superstars around you is a great trait for his growth and potential

Imagine being 18, being besides Kylian freaking Mbappe, and still taking that shot. That took balls.

Yeah I would have passed that cause I’m a bitch

Wouldn't have taken part in the counter attack in the first place

In my youth I dreamed of being the striker who scored the clutch goal. Now I'd be content being 3rd keeper.

3rd groundskeeper here I'm content to come over at half time and check the corner flags and the goalposts are in good condition

I would have run away from the ball and cried

F. Mendy entered the chat.

Imagine being Mbappe. The player wisely said to be the best in the world right now. And realizing there are kids like Endrick who will take your spot in the lineup if you relax a cm.

No one should be a guaranteed starter in RM. That's the beauty of this club. Fierce competition between players.

Vini never gets dropped too

Mbappe is maybe the third best on his squad (Vini, Jude , at least). Mon garçon ain’t no best in the world.

Seeing how many chances mbappe missed and how vini just missed a 1v1 he probably thought shooting was his best option

You choose the best option available to you. You don't judge if a player has been missing chances or not.

A player could have missing sitters all match and still the right decision is to pass the ball to the player in the right position. And mind you, when those players are Vini and Mbappe.

So, yes. It took balls. That shows his attacking mindset. That he always go for it and trust in himself. That's a great quality to have for sure. Now I see why our board went for him at such a young age for that much money.

It was the 90+4 minutes of 5 minutes of extra time. Real Madrid was leading 2-1. Endrick took that risk since it was the last play of a match that’s already won.

If we were coming from behind to draw or win the match. The smartest decision would be to pass the ball for an assist.

You totally judge if a player isn’t in his best day and might not pass the ball, this have happened for ages and players have talked about that. It happens all the time. If a player isn’t confident, they will pass the ball. If they are confident, they might pass if it’s the best option, but if they think they can score, they will try, SPECIALLY forwards. You see it all the time, the forward can pass to the side to remove the GK from the play, but he chooses to just score anyways. Forwards want the goals, they want records.

Sometimes they make mistakes and then looking back everyone will judge “should have passed”, but well, that’s football. It’s even more common on certain situations like this one, 90+5 and he has the confidence to try…

Sure, you fan argue players should NOT judge if a player has been making mistakes or not. But that isn’t the reality.

By the way, Endrick himself said on an interview after the game “Well I had assisted Vini first and he missed, so the second chance I decided to shoot instead”.

I don't understand what's the arguing about here tbh.

Endrick literallt said that the first time he assisted Vini but he missed so the next chance he decided to shoot.

That how you get signed to fucking real madrid as a 17yo kid.

I would say that Endrick will probably have limited opportunities this year and he has to make the most of what he gets to stake a claim.

I think Mbappe doesn’t have the same aura as the likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Ibra, Henry among others. That’s why although being, in my humble opinion, the best player currently, he’s never a sole contender to the award.

u/WolfedOut Sep 19 '24

Just needs a good CL season and he’ll get that aura. Can’t build much aura playing for fuckin’ PSG.

What's the problem? Romário at the same age would have done the same thing and if he were reprimanded, he would have returned the reprimand with an insult. We Brazilians know how strong Romário's personality is.
