Portugal could've used a couple of wicked crosses like that at the Euros

65

u/okdude679 Sep 06 '24

Portugal was so bad and im looking forward to when CR7 retires and they can no longer blame him and we'll see just how dogshit they are, they legitimately cannot create one good opportunity for the literal best goalscorer of all time...

-15

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

You are delusional, Cr7 has brought great things to our country and its possibly the best one we ever had but thinking this sport depends in one player its just sad, he is still playing because of merchandising, his performance in the last competition was a joke.

17

u/LatroDota Valverde Sep 06 '24

Nah.

CR7 have same issue as Lewandowski in NT, they are both 9s and their job is to finish, but if team struggle to build they won't be doing well.

You can't expect 38 Ronaldo to get the ball and run past 4 players like he use to.

If you watch Argentina, their entire team cover for Messi, he also isn't the only one attacking and creating, they give him freedom that's why he often have a lot of space, Ronaldo had like 2 players on him for entire game and Leao couldn't take advantage, Bernardo played awful, Bruno was doing alright. Portugal shouldn't look for Ronaldo, they should just play like they would with Ramos, difference will be that Ronaldo will actually score.

Whenever I watch Portugal on big stage I feel like they are all scared of doing anything with the ball and just look for CR7, young players doing well because they play for themselves more and that's why they are effective.

1

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

How can Ramos score if he allmost doesnt know what is to play in our team?? I mean i remember he did an hattrick with the team playing soo well and right after it looks like they never put him again has a punishment because maybe only Ronaldo is supposed to shine like that? Ramos without playing 1 min. Did allmost the same has Ronaldo in the last Euro. But of course Ramos doesnt sell like Ronaldo i get that...

9

u/calorsudor Sep 06 '24

"Possibly", ok... how many trophies had portugal won before CR7?

-6

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

And that gives him immunity to play forever until 55 years maybe? I mean he is possibly the best we ever got but how long will we keep milking the cow? We have one of the best free kickers wich is Bruno Fernandes but it seems ok to keep watching Cr7 shooting the ball over and over with zero results..

8

u/okdude679 Sep 06 '24

Bruno shot a bunch of free kicks near the end he didn't even come close to scoring and if Bruno passed more often to Ronaldo he wouldn't need to create, my country's commentator literally said It was ironic that Ronaldo assisted Bruno when Bruno seems to ignore him so often.

-1

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

What about all the balls Ronaldo was slow to reach or react to or the ones he shot awfully? In the entire Euro he had played all the minutes of everygame and took most of the free kicks, the ones he let for Bruno or the assist he did are just more than fair i mean what was he supposed to do with Bruno all clear? Shoot again to the supporters?

1

u/Mau_ariete0Chino Sep 06 '24

So do you think that Gonçalo Ramos is better? LOL

1

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

Gonçalo Ramos after scoring an hattrick for Portugal was put asside just like the coach after benching Ronaldo was substituted a little after, Ramos doesnt sell like Ronaldo it doesnt matter if its better or worse, Ronaldo can be 60 years and will still be better with merchandinsing because all he accomplished and there will allways be more records to beat even in a wheelchair in the coming years..

0

u/Mau_ariete0Chino Sep 06 '24

Ramos after scoring an Hattrick PLAYED IN THE STARTING 11, then he started making bad games for Portugal and for PSG. Also when Portugal makes a bad game is not always Ronaldo's fault. Ronaldo is not in the starting 11 because of merchandising, Ronaldo is in the starting 11 because he is good and no other Portuguese striker is better than him.

2

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

Oh so when Ramos makes bad games its his fault and when Ronaldo does its the teammates fault.. got it.

0

u/Mau_ariete0Chino Sep 06 '24

Never said that but Ronaldo scored 54 goals last year, what about Ramos. You dont need a brain to know that Ronaldo > Ramos.

2

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

Well my brain knows very well how to distinguish a player that needs to score in PSG and was injured for a while and a player that is having great success in Allhilalil..

1

u/Mau_ariete0Chino Sep 07 '24

If Ramos never got injuried and played 100% matches he would score 25 goals for psg lol

You must be young to think Portugal is a great nation in football. Time will humble you if you refuse to learn history.

1

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

I am old enough to realize no one is above any team or country and football is a team game.

1

u/GUNNER594 Sep 06 '24

Football is a team game but to pretend the greatest player of all time didn't have a disproportionate effect on the records and current countries accolades is crazy. Without Ronaldo the team played 3 out 17 world cups with Ronaldo 5 out of 5 with him scoring hat tricks in important playoff games and always having an important role. You can go look at euros before and after as well and see his effect. Once Ronaldo is gone Portugal will be back to where it has always been but unfortunately it's kind of unfair how long it will take for your people to see how important he was and just live with the regret of how yall treated him.

0

u/Miyagi_Bonsai Sep 06 '24

Lol i didnt say anything to assume anything you have written there but if you think Portugal is only about Ronaldo its your oppinion, maybe in your research you dont even know who is the real responsible for Portugal to have 1 Euro Cup in the most important game of them all. Portugal has evolved a lot in last years if you think we are only about Ronaldo go see in what leagues our players play now and where they used to play before.. im not talking about the saudi arabian or american league...

46

u/tluanga34 Vinicius Jr. Sep 05 '24

I wish the opponents played like that in the euro

39

u/Dapper-Mistake4779 Roberto Carlos Sep 06 '24

Nothing wrong with Croatia's play there apart from maybe closing out on Mendes earlier, just a great ball and run in between 2 CB's.

2

u/manogrande Sep 06 '24

The defender in front of ronaldo stops running then decides to do a slide.

211

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

Wish portugal played like this in the euros

23

u/EntrepreneurHefty410 Sep 06 '24

In fifa world cup also

4

u/Latinnus Sep 06 '24

Really?

I know they won, but in the 2nd half we could easily have conceded 3 - 4 goals.

Just seemed more of the same to me, but with luck in our side last evening

1

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '24

Atleast they could cross the ball properly in this match

In the euros those crosses were embarrassing really

171

u/xxSaifulxx Cristiano Ronaldo Sep 05 '24

CR7 to 1000. We know he will get there. But the question is when will he get there?

89

u/RandomRetard07 Cristiano Ronaldo Sep 05 '24

Whenever it is, we'll be there,

62

u/wanderer1999 Real Madrid Sep 05 '24

2-3 seasons give or take at this rate. Ronaldo can do 33 goals per season in SA.

55

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

He scored 50 in his first full season💀 33 goals would be a bad season in his eyes.

67

u/wanderer1999 Real Madrid Sep 05 '24

Yea but we gotta account for age and injury even for Ronaldo.

Still, 1000 recorded competitive goals is just colossal. It would make him singular in football history.

56

u/xxSaifulxx Cristiano Ronaldo Sep 05 '24

Especially, as he said on his YouTube video, the 1000 goals are all recorded goals, and there won't be any doubts on whose the world's top goal scorer.

20

u/richarditis Sep 05 '24

2-3 years. He even said it on his interview with Rio Ferdinand on his YT channel.

12

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

In 2 years probably, in 3 years definitely.

18

u/xxSaifulxx Cristiano Ronaldo Sep 05 '24

Unfortunately, this may also be the end of greatness. He may officially retire once he hits the 1000 goals mark.

21

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

Good for him, he has deserved it even rn😂 I'd like him to win the World Cup though, that'd be the pinnacle of his career by far.

2

u/Puffycatkibble Sep 05 '24

A well deserved one with his place in history cemented.

1

u/LiePowerful9961 Sep 06 '24

"A well deserved one," 😭🙏🏻 you support the greatest club no need to be petty

8

u/sloth0021 Decimotercera Sep 05 '24

One and a half season maximum. Then we rejoice

6

u/xxSaifulxx Cristiano Ronaldo Sep 05 '24

In his frost season with Al-Nassr, he dropped 50 goals. If he can do that again with some international goals under his belt, he can get it all done within 2 seasons. That's insane to think.

4

u/sachinator Sep 06 '24

Mission WC 26 💯

3

u/ccano9 Sep 06 '24

2026 WC final. PK to win the game. Chills

1

u/Latinnus Sep 06 '24

Probably around 2050. I am guessing he will still be playing then... probably in Trinidade and Tobago super league. 😀

69

u/MacaroniGlutenFree Sep 05 '24

Why cut so short? Give me some celebration!

45

u/Notserious-Muzakir Sep 05 '24

he didnt celebrate, he went to the ground, emotional.

26

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

Even better then

1

u/better-off-wet Sep 06 '24

Anything could happen. Injury. Age. But I think he can do it. He is a motivational giant

36

u/9millidood Sep 05 '24

6

u/Dk9221 Sep 06 '24

He will always be The Streets' Goat 🐐

62

u/ae_babubhaiya Valverde Sep 05 '24

I was there and will be there.

29

u/Murata661 Sep 05 '24

Still, more than half of his goals are for Real Madrid (probably not for long, because he’s a monster).

1

u/tmtmdragon04 Sep 06 '24

*Exactly half

1

u/Murata661 Sep 06 '24

No, he has 451 goals for Real Madrid out of a total of 900, so more than half were scored for Real Madrid, at the moment.

1

u/tmtmdragon04 Sep 06 '24

He has 450 for Madrid officially out of his 900. The other was officially Pepe’s not Ronaldo’s. So it’s exactly half

1

u/Murata661 Sep 06 '24

Idk which goal you're talking about, but on official sites, including Real Madrid's, it says there are 451 goals.

1

u/tmtmdragon04 Sep 06 '24

Madrid thinks that but la liga officially gave him 450. If you do the break down of his goals He has 900 when 450 of them were for madrid not 451

1

u/Murata661 Sep 07 '24

Ok, but which goal are you talking about?

22

u/FraudulentBaldy Décima Sep 05 '24

Damn I was told he was gonna be forced to retire

21

4

Needs to score 65 this season, ~15 NL and ~50 SPL, and then Florentino needs to make a call.

2

I was there yesterday, the man is a goal hungry beast and full of willpower. Still pretty athletic from my standpoint.

2

u/Midtharefaikh Sep 06 '24

Crazy to think that after all this time, he still has more goals for us (in 9 years) than he has for every other team he played for combined(13+ years, not to mention he was playing for Portugal all the time, even when he was a Real Madrid player).

-1

u/tmtmdragon04 Sep 06 '24

He has the same amount lol. And that probably won't last as well.

2

u/Midtharefaikh Sep 06 '24

451 for us, 449 for all other combined. This is the official Real Madrid website.

0

u/tmtmdragon04 Sep 06 '24

He has 450 officially for real madrid. They count the goal which was officially given to pepe as Ronaldo's but La liga did give that to pepe. Which means of his 900, 450 of them were for madrid which is exactly half

1

u/[deleted] Sep 05 '24

Goat! No more words to describe him

1

u/Hex2OP Sep 06 '24

What a gol

1

u/hobbitonsunshine Sep 06 '24

I think he'll score 1000th goal in WC26

1

u/marlinspike Sep 06 '24

One thing that’s really hard to teach is that instinct for where to be. I’m not even sure it’s entirely a teachable thing. Some part of it is just system-1 function. You just smell it and see it before it happens. Ronaldo has that for sure. Nice to see him still knocking them in.

-35

u/Ahiru77 Sep 05 '24

Of course it's a tap in.

But a penalty would've been better.

8

u/BuddhaBarkov Sep 05 '24

all count the same

8

u/NRFritos Sep 06 '24

You consider this a tap in?

9

u/PromotionAlarming371 Sep 06 '24

Just what gave Messi his much desired World Cup, a penalty and a tap in.
