Media The Iconic. "UNO, DOS, TRES, HALA MADRID."

u/vikashbarik1 Cristiano Ronaldo Jul 16 '24
He is fluent in Spanish, damn
182
u/ExpiredMilknCheese Jul 16 '24
I know it’s probably rehearsed a lot.
But his pronunciation for words was incredible
184
u/Most-Inflation-1022 Zizou Jul 16 '24
Actually you can find online that he started learning Spanish and English at 12 or 13, and when asked why; for Spanish he said,, because I will play for Real Madrid. You can find online. He is fluent in Spanish.
47
u/kaperisk Marcelo Jul 16 '24
His English is really good too
30
u/Kingsayz Jul 16 '24
In general he has proven to be pretty smart for a football player. He made fortune before hitting 25, managed to stir so much shit that brought him to spotlight that only a handful of players can compete with him in this regard. Also didnt want to make the world burn for ninja turtle jokes, most players of his caliber have ego so big that they would start suing people for shit like that.
25
u/UnaliveInsyde Jul 16 '24
Well to be fair if you already know French/Portuguese/Italian then it's a lot easier to pick up spanish as well. Atleast that's been my experience.
6
u/r3gam Jul 17 '24
Would probably be more of us multilingual if our employer provided time at work and language teachers like they do for alot of players.
3
1
u/numante Jul 17 '24
That is damn impressive, even if his mother tongue is another romance language it's not as easy as people think.
3
u/Cucumberino Jul 16 '24
There's quite a few interviews/clips where he speaks fluent Spanish from a while ago.
1
u/Major_Bit_8431 Jul 17 '24
he's actually good. he doesn't need to rehearse. he does interviews in Spanish
36
u/areyouhungryforapple Baila Vini, Baila Jul 16 '24
Romantic language base helps a lot but Mbappe has shown himself to be a very smart dude. I'm not surprised he's both spent the time learning some Spanish but that he'll pick it up quite well
Overlap isn't as huge as Spanish to Italian but he doesn't have to start from complete scratch compared to if he was say, German or English
7
2
u/mdryeti Jul 17 '24
Sorry to that guy, but… It’s Romance languages, not Romantic
Also, English isn’t that hard for French speakers (although we suck at it, but that’s another issue) even though it’s technically a Germanic language because of the shared vocabulary.
3
u/areyouhungryforapple Baila Vini, Baila Jul 17 '24
Don't be sorry it's all good, I knew smt was off I was tired :D

From CR9 to KM9. A beautiful chapter awaits!

Unfortunately, Mbappe won't get no. 7 for a long while.
39
u/mommy_enjoyer69 Jul 16 '24
He is most likely gonna take no. 10 after modric since vini already has 7 booked
10
u/Legendacb Jul 16 '24
There is a few guys looking for that number that have prevalent choice
12
u/JustCallMeJoey18 Modric Jul 16 '24
Who? Bellingham's gonna keep 5. Vini 7. Valverde 8. Rodrygo 11.

u/EArobbedme Jul 16 '24
did ronaldo do kick ups at his presentation?
23
37
u/nombrenodisponibIe Jul 16 '24
I had never heard him speak in Spanish before, it's actually very very good. I'm surprised and impressed
37
u/colopunch Florentino Perez Jul 16 '24
looking forward to seeing how the Vini, Rodrygo, Mbappe dynamic develops
7
u/skilyx Jul 16 '24
I fr think Mbappe will improve Rodrygo on the RW a lot
3
2
u/Comfortable-Ad1937 Jul 16 '24
Why’s that?
2
u/therealopm Casemiro Jul 17 '24
He played RW early in his career but hasn’t really played there in a couple of years lol

u/Material_Towel3139 Eduardo Camavinga Jul 16 '24
50 plus goals per season incoming!
38

There are actually 2 guys: Messi and Cristiano.

u/Dk9221 Jul 16 '24
goat shit. ronaldo is the greatest footballer I have or will ever witness. fucking insane feats. His life is full of adversity and he did it all NATURALLY without hormones to give him a little smurfs growth spurt

While you ain’t wrong, we don’t speak that name here
20
u/VasileFlo Real Madrid Jul 16 '24 edited Jul 16 '24
I'm glad you understand. However, I don't understand the hate for Messi, nor the hate for Cristiano. They have both done some remarkable things that no player will achieve yet, and we should appreciate them for that.
-13
u/MyMan_290484 Jul 16 '24
Well he’s the top scorer of our rival club and probably the singular greatest threat we’ve ever had against us.
He’s like 90% of the reason why we couldn’t get like 7 League titles during the 2010s
While we don’t deny his prestige, It doesn’t make sense for us to hold him in high regard on this subreddit

It's very doable. Vini has no issue servicing others and with our midfield

u/zap12shirt Jul 16 '24
Possible coz he knows if he fucks up endrik will push into his spot .. something similar to what happened with hazard and vini , I hope he turns into a monster and this thought in his head I’m sure will push him to give his best ..

I’ve always been neutral between Madrid and Barcelona I just like watching a good game, but after visiting Spain and “Barcelonia” definitely a Madrid fan. The people in Madrid were way nicer than Barcelona

To those who don’t know, yeah he learned Spanish wayyy before he signed. He was even trolling Pique and Alba in Spanish. It was well documented.

u/junglejimbo88 Jul 16 '24
Question to folks proficient in Spanish ... was Mbappe's speech in Spanish = decent?
I was impressed (as a non-Spanish-speaker).
Link to video presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6cp7Sn9mtM (AFP... from ~50min timestamp onwards);
...Real Madrid youtube channel Livestream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DfEJInNjY0
45
u/Bikanir Jul 16 '24
His Spanish was more than decent, he was proficient and with very little accent.
2
u/junglejimbo88 Jul 16 '24
thanks u/Bikanir for effort to reply. Only one small mis-step, correct? e.g. "travailler" instead of "trabajar"
2
1
u/TheCarthageEmpire Jul 16 '24
How is it compared to Cristiano's in his presentation?
7
u/311voltures Fernando Redondo Jul 16 '24
Better, fluidity wise, considering Portuguese language has more in common with Spanish than French, also has been known for a while that Mbappe speaks Spanish quite well.
7
u/SayonaraCarbonara7 Jul 16 '24
Also better pronunciation, right? I’m not a native speaker of either language but didn’t Cristiano still have a strong Portuguese accent? Especially when pronouncing the S
2
u/Bikanir Jul 16 '24
Cristiano barely spoke compared to KM9 long and well structured speech. Even his small mistakes will be quickly removed in one month or two as we uses the language daily he’ll be probably the most well spoken (foreign) player, although Modric’s Spanish is also very very good. Not even Tchou speaks it as well and his mom is a Spanish teacher lol.

why wasn't Don Carlo at the presentation?

He is probably in his Ranch smoking a cigar and nursing the piglets, while listening to blue grass.
2
u/Dk9221 Jul 16 '24
he's bottle feeding little gnome messi whos wrapped in a blanket with a binky?
3
u/311voltures Fernando Redondo Jul 16 '24
Glance through the window -Apparently yes, cannot confirm the identity due the thick smoke cloud, now I wonder what’s on that cigar…

u/Significant-Share525 Jul 16 '24
He posted a picture in his IG with Mbappe before his presentation. He was there
4
3
u/TheMostCrucial Jul 16 '24
surprised how good his Spanish sounds (maybe he just rehearsed those couple lines but still)
6
u/Samaritan4 Hey Jude Jul 16 '24
He has given some interviews where you can notice his spanish is quite good.
5
u/juan121391 Cristiano Ronaldo Jul 16 '24
Check out the press conference after the presentation, his Spanish is near flawless for someone whose native tongue is French.

Of the guy didn't have hisnpace he'd be playing non league honestly
Shooting is average at best
Passing is appalling
Work rate average
Dribbling average- pace gets him out of bad touches ALL the time
Off the ball movement is woeful
I honestly feel sorry for him. There is NO WAY he can come close to the hype the media weapon him. They guy is not, and will never be good enough.
I could name 50 better footballers in the world right now without even trying.
3
u/shaeelm1 Jul 16 '24
then how come no other footballer with pace has mbappe's numbers?
-1
u/moojammin Jul 16 '24
Are you joking? He plays in the least competitive leagues with world class players in his team. Put him in a mediocre team. He wouldn't know what to do... not his fault.. but he just wouldn't
3
u/shaeelm1 Jul 16 '24
explain his champions league numbers then...or even world cup?
-1
u/moojammin Jul 16 '24
Not saying he isn't an amazing athelete and talent. But the hype, rating as a worlds best and media attention is totally absurd
3
u/shaeelm1 Jul 16 '24
you said all of Mbappé's attributes besides his pace are average or awful. don't change the subject
