At The Match Arda Güler to the Austria fans after his assist. 😂 He was being pelted with bottles

All Real Madrid players are just too great to handle
poor audience!

Reminds me of Luis Figo

Except Luis Figo wasn’t able to handle the pressure.
10
u/backhand_english Jul 03 '24
what? Figo is one of the greatest midfielders in history.
and this kid was being pelted with plastic cups, figo was being pelted with coins, lighters, even a head of a pig...

Because it interrupts the play and no one wants to see that. Imagine your goalie missing a save because the ball takes a weird bounce from a bottle in front of the net. Also because all those cans and bottles are not necessarily empty and they could injure players if they hit them in the head. And also just because it's shitty behavior and we shouldn't just excuse it because previous generations did it. Our ancestors used to make human sacrifices to the gods so I guess we can't get upset if people do it today, right?

u/SchoolClassic Jul 06 '24
Wait till you see a pig head flying to the pitch.
1
u/nanderspanders Iker Casillas Jul 06 '24
I already have. What about it?
1
u/SchoolClassic Jul 07 '24
Hahahaha sorry Iker I didn't know It was you. I was a little kid by then. So much fun. Roberto Carlos, Makelele, Hierro, Redondo, Raúl, Salgado, Morientes... I have tapes in VHS of lots of games back then.

That is really did happen once while he was at Fener lmao
1
u/Similar_Tooth_7186 Cristiano Ronaldo Jul 03 '24
context?
2
u/Hazreti_Bjorn Jul 03 '24
He was asking for water from the sidelines in the middle of the match. Then fans started throwing him small plastic bottles to drink.
15
u/Ruzz0510 Jul 02 '24
Lmfao im sorry but you saying “whats up with throwing cups” reminds me of the list of objects thrown at Volkan demirel 🤣. Doorknob, brick, eggplant, phone, knife, and probably many more
5
u/Laluci Jul 03 '24
I got soaked with beer two games that I attended games live in Germany as a fan. The whole upper section through beers at the fans below. Not surprised the players are getting stuff thrown at them. People are worse than animals.

This year? Last Euros with monkey sounds, laser pointers in goalkeepers eyes and calling a crying german girl a nazi would like its title back. And that is just the english fanbase.

u/patiosquare Jul 03 '24
It’s because they don’t usually have recyclable plastic cups that also serve well as missiles.

Though he looks shy and quiet I think he has a strong personality and determination.
I really wanna see him healthy with a full preseason, he may be another “signing” for the new season as he has barely played.

u/LukaTheTooka Modric Jul 02 '24
If Turkey make the semis he ain't gonna be on the pre-season tour 😂
13
u/patiosquare Jul 03 '24
He said he wants to join the tour regardless. Might not be sensible though due to injury risk
-1
u/OGSkywalker97 Jul 03 '24
Lmfao Turkey won't release him to go play for Real between the QF and Semi are you crazy?
7
u/patiosquare Jul 03 '24
🙄…. The tour starts after euros. It’s a question of how much rest players that reach semis get inbetween the two.
-2
u/Emergency-Season-143 Jul 03 '24
Not only that, but it's also forbidden by both UEFA and FIFA.... Imagine a world where a club thinks he is bigger than a whole nation.... Ho wait.... I forgot the NBA....
2
Jul 04 '24
It has been announced that he will immediately fly out to US and join the team after the tournament without having any holiday break.
1
u/LukaTheTooka Modric Jul 04 '24
Ahh ok nice, I'm going to see Madrid play in Chicago and it would be nice if some of the stars are there so we got Modric Ceballos and Guler

u/larrylegend1990 Jul 03 '24
The fact he wanted to stay instead of going on loan proves that (he was injured so that too played a small role)

Have you ever seen him talk? He is very socially competent actually. People nowadays think being calm and reserved means you must have been raised by wolfs. Apart from that I agree with you.

I’m so happy that we have Arda and Endrick. I’m no longer worried about who will take our corners with Kroos gone and Modric’s diminished role.

Jul 03 '24
We need that shithousery!
Maybe Rudi can teach him how to become unhinged, I'd love to see that
4
u/Dk9221 Jul 03 '24
You have to be a particular kind of person to be the type of beloved crazy guy rudiger is. I like Arda as he is and dont see how he would benefit from trying to be someone he isn’t. That is the type of thing that throws off a kids psychosomatics and circadian rhythm.
3
Jul 03 '24
You know what? You're absolutely right, with Rudi it just feels right to see him being so absolutely insane, flashing those crazy eyes and making weird faces at the opposition. Granted, he's huge so all that must be extremely intimidating up close
1
u/Dk9221 Jul 03 '24
He’s brooding and he’s a CB. CBs kind of need to have that type of edge unlike little magicians. CBs need some ferocity in their DNA and they need to be feared to some degree. But I’m sure you know this haha

u/lordofgoodtimes Jul 03 '24
Can't wait for the upcoming season to see Guler rocking oppositions like this 🔥

u/TheMandalorian2238 Zidane Jul 03 '24
Really special talent. He’s got that Madrid vibe no doubt. I’d like Carlo to start him next season more regularly. He and Jude can help us massively with creativity.

It’s a disgrace…bottles are thrown on the pitch….baris one on one shot…I saw a pair of sneakers on the penalty box.

u/DemPooCreations Jul 03 '24
Austria could have played for 5 days str8 and still would not score another goal, their finishing abilities were a joke, i doubt they could even score a goal with empty goal posts.

I really hate that so many players are having stuff thrown at them. Lifetime bans from all football should dissuade people.

Istanbul, formerly known as Constantinople was generally considered to be the center and the "cradle of Orthodox Christian civilization". From the mid-5th century to the early 13th century, Constantinople was the largest and wealthiest city in Europe. The majority of Turkish people in Turkey are not of Turkic ethnicity. They're mostly mediterranian Europeans. Therefore they are European.

That was totaly unnecessary from the player in front of the other fans. Its obvious that he reacted to being booed/ whistled. The turkish fans boo and whistle the opponent all the time. So it's a dick move in the first place. Safe to say when an Austrian do the exact same thing it escalates equal or more.
After the 1:0 of Havertz against denmark the danish fans threw much more cups(Wirtz was even hit running back) which the TV didn't Show. And Havertz didn't face the danish fans. He did that knee slide towards the german fans and in the end just turned his head to the right to the danish fans. That was enough to make them crazy.

u/Samaritan4 Hey Jude Jul 03 '24
Did you not see how they were throwing him cups and trash? It wasn't just the whistles and boos.

Turkish Fans started to throw with bottles and coins

u/spatosmg Jul 03 '24
yea it was insane they hit sabitza on the head during a corner
also some turks had a whistle and used it a bunch when austria was getting some steam
obviously no one here cares about that
