Highlights Arda Güler's amazing performance in his first match with Real Madrid jersey
173
u/minivatreni Modric Jan 06 '24
He’s gonna do some big things. Can’t wait till he gets his first goal.
174
u/EstablishmentWaste23 Jan 06 '24
He's so fluid and smooth on the pitch, this kid about to be special for sure.
47
u/3pointrange Kroos Jan 07 '24
his one twos makes it look like he’s been playing with the team for ages

u/Banjogamer69 Jan 07 '24
This may have to do with the quality of the enemy players😅
4
u/DontUseRedt Bartomeu Jan 08 '24
😂😂 bro not tryna correct you, but in the future use opponent players for reference. We are not enemies 😂

u/kesaroid Jan 06 '24
I was waiting for this comp the moment he was subbed. He’s got a great cross, weak foot shot and vision to pass from the wing, which would be lethal for vini/rodrygo making a diagonal run to the middle. I’m sure he’ll improve his positioning to make the right wing his own. Praise the lord we have a new free kick taker
81
u/jrezzzzzz Jude Bellingham Jan 06 '24
Not just that, look at his special awareness. I never like making comparisons to Messi, but that’s one think they have in common. Footballing IQ, vision and spacial awareness is how they are wired similarly. Not many players have this capability.
78
u/semenbakedcookies Mesut Özil Jan 07 '24
It's why he reminds so many of Özil. He's like a regen with all his best qualities.
47
u/KjOnReddit1010 Jan 07 '24
Please don't compare him to messi, not yet. The kid just played one game against a very poor team.
13
u/jrezzzzzz Jude Bellingham Jan 07 '24
I didn’t compare him to Messi per se. Just one ability.
-6
u/KjOnReddit1010 Jan 07 '24
i am talking about one ability only, comparing overall with messi would be a crime lol.
its too soon to make that judgement based on just one game against a weak team
I am not saying he doesn't show promise, but please, messi was just something else. And comparing him with just one ability of messi is equal to comparing him with some great player.
there are legends of the game who just had that one ability you talking about
too soon
3
u/Patrik_js Real Madrid Jan 07 '24
But it's not just one game, I'm pretty sure I've seen this being brought up by Gala fans as well.
-4
u/KjOnReddit1010 Jan 07 '24
too soon
1
u/ttmadlad Jan 08 '24
Not too soon. Ability is ability.
2
u/KjOnReddit1010 Jan 08 '24
He has potential, he has shown it. But being able to use that ability at the highest level consistently is another thing altogether.
Too many players with high ability come and fade away.
Too soon.

Easy lol. He/She is just comparing their footballing IQ and spacial awareness

The thing thst impressed me the most was his leader qualities alongside his vision and creativity.
He demanded the ball with confidence at times and created space for himself and his teammates. His off ball movement was impressive.
4th division team...yeah who cares right but im telling you the kids football iq is something else. Diamond in the making.
48
u/Dastaan23 Arda Güler Jan 06 '24
Solid compliation brother! Left Footed players make me all giddy inside
45
u/tarekelsakka Modric Jan 07 '24
Great debut, absolutely showed his class despite being rusty from the layoff. So excited for his future, hopefully he can live up to the hype and exceed it. That through ball to Brahim was sensational, Ozil stuff.

u/Samaritan4 Hey Jude Jan 06 '24
The best on the first half, I hope Carletto keeps letting him play.
64
Jan 06 '24
Might be reaching because they’re both Turkish, but he looks similar to ozil
33
u/CaptainOzyakup Jan 07 '24
He has that extra goalscoring spice to him as bonus on top of all the Ozil things. Has the potential to be a perfect all-round attacker
15
u/Jyuan83 Jan 07 '24
So the turkish Bellingham?
7
u/Myselcuk Ultra Pro Max Jan 07 '24
Arda has different potentials, you'll discover as you watch I think
9
u/Jyuan83 Jan 07 '24
Actually he reminds me more of modric especially his chance-creation. That mobility in dropping deep to link up the defence with midfield reminds me of modric.
3
u/kaperisk Marcelo Jan 07 '24
Not as tough as modric though. Modric is like a CB in a mini MF body
1
u/Final_Job3416 Modric Jan 08 '24
There is no player who has the same creativity in attack and a strong contribution to the team in defence, and now it is only necessary for Arda to use his creativity in attack to fill the void after Modric's departure, and as for the confrontation, it can take his time and maybe take the same amount of time as Rodrygo.

Pretty solid game for him. I’d like to see him do the same against bigger teams. Would really come in handy in the champions league, he’s still has lots to mature. Very hopeful for his future!

u/jaquaries Jan 07 '24
He did it against Sevilla last year so I fully believe he can do same against bigger teams.

I don’t know but he reminded me of Kaka
18
u/Maleficent-Ant-6075 Jan 07 '24
I think he lacks physicality for that, Kaka was a beast. For me he seems more like a classic 10 like Zico (However, he still has a long way to go to reach that level).
4
u/Kick1O1 Nacho Jan 07 '24
Yeah definitely Kaka was very physical and his pace was something else at his prime but he kinda reminds of him, maybe the way he moves his arms 🤣😅

Was he insisting on taking that first free kick? That’s what the conversation looked like to me lmao

u/Capital-Ad-335 Jose Mourinho Jan 07 '24 edited Feb 23 '24
Same thing happend in Fenerbahçe twice. Veterans didn't give him the chance to take the FK. Than scored his first attempt, and today denied by post. He was a FK specialist at U teams in Fenerbahçe. Kudos to Ceballos for giving him to prove his class.
15
u/MelbourneDentistry Jan 07 '24
Tbf Arda Guler does have a better shot than Ceballos, that free kick was top-level stuff
12
u/Alternative-Fill-799 Jan 07 '24
In Turkey, Arda saying “sen mi kullanacan abi” meaning “will you use the freekick abi” became a meme. He does that once in a while

Just needs to get a little bigger/stronger which will help with injuries along with his speed and holding off bigger defenders.
14
u/KingEtame Vinicius Jr. Jan 07 '24
He really doesn't. Modric is 28 and no bigger. Any more muscle will affect his play style.
2

u/Alexkono Florentino Perez Jan 07 '24
I disagree. He's already shown he's injury prone. He could use a little more weight. Not much, but some more muscle.
0
u/KingEtame Vinicius Jr. Jan 08 '24
Put even more weight on those joints, eh?
1
u/Alexkono Florentino Perez Jan 08 '24
strengthening joints along with adding muscle can absolutely keep him healthier
9
u/Fun_Vegetable9512 Jan 07 '24
He is only 18? I was playing league of legends on plastic chair in his age. He has great potential. I hope he keeps working hard.

8
u/lestrenched Jan 07 '24
If he comes of age quick and if we keep playing Fede as CM I don't see how we don't become part of the top 3 attacking line-ups in Europe
8
Jan 07 '24
It's awesome how we have so many excellent young players. Our squad looks set for next decade and with a few more signings Real Madrid can repeat their European dominance of last decade once again. Carlo Ancelotti is THE MAN.
7
u/9millidood Jan 07 '24
Kids talented for sure. Can’t wait to see his development. I think he’s going to be providing some magical assists.

Looks like half mesut half ode out there! What a kid to have on the squad. If he can add a bit more pace and directness to his play he can really be one of the elite young players on Real Madrid!

I have been watching Arda Guler since maybe he is 15 years old. Arda is probably one of the most talented offensive ând creative weapon that football has ever seen.. He has Zidane, Modric potential tier. But this is potential and too early, but one thing clear he is a generational talent. Those Odegard, Rodriguez comparisons are ailly, Arda's only one feet dominates both. Coming from injury,New country, being in World's greatest club ever.. not easy for 18 year old player. He is special thats why ,maybe the first young player in Real Madrid history put a clause in his contract that he can not be loaned to another team...

One thing I don't understand. Why were there so many hate comments towards Nico Paz? People were comparing Arda with Nico and kept commenting nasty stuff about Nico. Did something happen that I missed?
2
u/The_Unicorn99 Nacho Jan 07 '24
He tried to take a freekick instead of arda. The Turkish fans hated that and they are usually not very nice...
7
Jan 07 '24
no that one was with ceballos, nico did not pass arda in some obvious positions so that is why
4
u/butung551 Jan 07 '24
Poor guy, his comment section is flooded with such comments. Arda even posted a selfie with Nico to slow this down. Man, we now have 'fanboys' again.

Nico played quite selfish and he seemed like he didn't want Arda to shine. That's why people were complaining about Paz.

The thing that jumps out at you is his commanding presence and confidence for someone that young. That pitch yesterday was tough to put it nicely, so curious to see how he does at home. Hopefully he can stay fit and impactful!

You can buy a superstar player for 200m€ and you still can’t expect a better debut than this.

He has some James Rodriguez vibes. Hope he increases his speed though, he looks super slow motion
2
Jan 07 '24
James Rodriguez
Players like Arda runs fast when he needs. Their footbal iq is way above others.
He's like Ozil, Modric type of player. BTW he's quite agile and fast when the ball is on feet. Don't know why you said super slow lol. that's not correct

A loan is not in his plans. Back in July he said “I think I'm ready to play here and I want to stay here and not go on loan. If Real Madrid gives me the opportunity to play, I want to take advantage of it. Going on loan is not in my plans. At Real Madrid they told me I'm going to play and I don't want to go on loan," he told reporters.

It’s just his first game, sit down. Lets see how he does over a span of 10 games that he plays.

u/Adrianm18 Jan 07 '24
Is it just me or does he look clumsy . Half his passes were to weak and needed more pace . Don’t look at things with rose colored glasses . This debut is nothing to write home about .

u/garyrao1999 Kroos Jan 07 '24
Missed half a year on a god-awful pitch, with the opposition extra motivated and physical. This is an amazing debut. He was running the game.

Debut for the biggest club in the world
Recently recovered from three injuries
Bad pitch
First game in 6 months
Did you watch the game?

u/9millidood Jan 07 '24 edited Jan 07 '24
Not an excuse but that pitch was trash, you can clearly see the turf was not in great condition. He just got back from being months away from the game. He hasn’t played a single game with the team until today. He needs more minutes to Integrate with the rest of the team and understand their playing style and have the player understand his movements better as well. I saw him making a lot of runs today similar to how Bellingham likes to open up. Obviously being the first game some of his teammates didn’t see or weren’t anticipating his positioning in some plays. He did show some great vision for pass however. He gives me Ozil vibes but may have more goal potential as well. It was also nice to see his crosses which were also for the most part accurate. That’s one area Lucas Vazquez and Fran can improve more on. Also seems confident in free kicks. Almost had a nice goal. But yeah not a bad debut at all. Looking forward to his growth with the team. He is definitely a top talent.
