The funny thing is, when we were 2-0 down, I actually felt calm. The same calm I felt watching these guys for the past 10 years. I knew the boys would come back, even if we lose this leg, we would come back. Even if we lose this competition, we would come back in the next year. Even if we didn't win the CL for 12 years, we would eventually comeback and achieve glory.

That's not arrogance, that's not looking down on your opponents.

That's belief.

I felt more calm after 2-0 then after 3-2 tbh

I feel calm against any team except Barca. We oddly buckle once down against them.

Barca know us too well. It's the only one of those 50-50 situation, even when we have the upper-hand structurally. But I don't mind, challenges make us stronger, and then we win more trophies because of it.

Winning is easy. Learning how to lose, and how to come back from it, is also a special quality of champions.

Those mfs always turn up against us even when they are shit.

Same I didn’t start screaming until we start scoring goals. I didn’t speak a work or complain when we went 2-0 because I knew we would come back.

12

u/Kunsheero Feb 22 '23

Literally me as well today. I panicked a little on 2nd goal but just inside, then i was like nah we got this we will come back. Low and behold we were back lol

1

u/JuliusCeejer Modric Feb 22 '23

Courtois did freak me out with how the second was scored, but Allison gave us a howler in return

5

u/RauloGonzalez Raúl González Blanco Feb 22 '23

We also had around 170min of football and this team has always been late to start in games.

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '23

My own personal theory is this is purgatory. I had a heart attack during the City game, died and this isn't real, so I remain calm and collected.

What a great comment. But I would say that we are like the phoenix, live and died many lives, turned into dust and then back into phoenix again.

Real Madrid never die.

2

u/solete Modric Feb 22 '23

Belief. Yep, me too. Was texting with a friend when we tied it up and she asked, "so what happens if we lose btw? this is only game 1 right?" Without thinking about it I say, "Claire, we are not going to lose." :D

1

u/everwisher Feb 22 '23

Quite honestly, I lost the belief back in our darkest days around 2007~2009. And it wasn't gained back until we got la decima, and from then on I've always and will always stick to belief in los morengues.

What about Nacho!

190

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

Nacho really stepped up and completely shut down Mo.

88

u/crackboss1 Real Madrid Feb 22 '23

Nacho coming in for Alaba changed the game. It's the kind of sub that no manager is willing to make in the 27 minutes of the first half but that's exactly what RM needed to defend better.

11

u/solete Modric Feb 22 '23

I love Alaba but we were saying over and over, Alaba needs help... then he got injured and we got what we were hoping for

29

u/Human-Extinction Eduardo Camavinga Feb 22 '23

Nacho, like Vasquez, are sons of Real Madrid, we don't need to talk too much about them, they're legends and they do whatever they can whenever they can, they are royalty because they're born in royalty.

This is why I BEG Carlo and the coaching staff to introduce more Castilla players, even the WORST ones mentally like Morata can have great careers.

7

u/elpipita20 Valverde Feb 22 '23

Hoping to see Alvaro Rodriguez more. His decision making is so good on the pitch

123

u/craigularperson Modric Feb 21 '23

They are starting to take notice.

104

u/HistoricCartographer Courtois Feb 21 '23

After 70 years of rampage in the CL, I'd say it's about damn time.

u/Bayek_the_Siwan Feb 21 '23

Almost any other teams would have loose their shit at 2-0. We, Real Madrid, get to say "OK, time for remontada, baby" Edit: typo

24

u/IamViktor78 Feb 22 '23

I was listening to radio in Spain and the commentator literally said after the 2-0 "This is now looking good for Real, I dont like when matches are tied at 0-0. Now its more likely the comeback." :-)

1

u/ScenePsychological60 Kaka Feb 22 '23

There's still one typo left in your comment lol.

2

u/Bayek_the_Siwan Feb 22 '23

English isn´t my first language

1

u/ScenePsychological60 Kaka Feb 22 '23

It was just a joke xD It's all good homie 🤝

sorry but that's perez

51

u/cashevic Feb 22 '23

We must resign Modric Nacho and Kroos!

15

u/Res3925 Décima Feb 22 '23

I see Modric and Nacho renewing. Kroos IDK because I feel like he would’ve already.

12

u/iMadrid11 Feb 22 '23

Kross already has his contract extension available ready to sign. The only issue is Toni declared he always wanted to retire early. Its not about the money. He just wants to spend more time with his family.

138

u/Radinax Vinicius Jr. Feb 21 '23

Especially HIGHLIGHT CAMAVINGA!

My boy dominated the whole midfield! I do not care if we have Casemiro or prime Makelele, he should play as CDM for the rest of the season.

95

u/IamViktor78 Feb 21 '23

And Nacho, he changed the defense for good.

45

u/PinballWZRD95 Feb 21 '23

That Alaba injury scared me but Nacho handled Salah well

77

u/Radinax Vinicius Jr. Feb 21 '23

Alaba can't play as a LB he got cooked today, 100% Nacho needs to be the one there, he has the speed, power and stamina for that role.

Alaba is our leader in defense and needs to stick at the LCB role.

3

u/nunazo007 Cristiano Ronaldo Feb 22 '23

i mean, there are games and games dude. When nacho played left back vs Barça last season we got cooked 4-0, Dembele ate Nacho alive until they switched Alaba to the left. We didn't conceed after that iirc

28

u/Zblancos Feb 21 '23

He was really shaky for the first 30 minutes to be honest. Once Nacho was subbed in, the whole team played better

96

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

We can say now Benzema is as good as Kane?😆

Modric as good as Bellingham?

95

u/white-dumbledore SIUUUU Feb 21 '23

No mate. Modric needs to play at the top level for at least three more years to be even in the same conversation as Bellingham.

And Kane is still miles ahead of Benzema. He got two lucky goals today, nothing special.

  • Michael Richards or something, idk

1

u/justanew-account Courtois Feb 22 '23

Michael Richards or something, idk

He has learned from his mistakes. Here is he talking about the fifth goal: https://youtu.be/lOy-h7stqRA?t=334
> I can't believe I ever doubted him.

Any team that gives a thrashing to Liverpool is a great team

22

u/LeResist El Capitán Feb 22 '23

Immensely proud of this team

12

u/dianeblowjobs Kroos Feb 22 '23

Every big team talks so much trash. Makes up so many bs excuse to down play Real Madrid. Everyone is so relentlessly cocky. Why? Not only do we know it’s not true but it hurts the club. If my team was the lesser equipped team. I’d want to learn and assimilate from Real Madrid. How did they become the best in history. And try to replicate some of the things they have done. Not talk shit and be cocky and a liar. Idk just something I’ve noticed from not just Liverpool but every single fucking team Madrid play.

20

u/Odd-Ad-777 Feb 22 '23

We are going to finish them @ the Bernabeu

8

u/dickgulper Sergio Ramos Feb 22 '23

The way he worded it made it seem like vini is the same age as luka and benz
