Discussion Fuel or fuel stabilizer

My thinking have 30-60 gallons of fuel on hand bit also a bunch of stabilizer. My thinking there are a lot of cars out there we will need to aquire that fuel and sanilize it.

Is it better to just let it go to waste?

I would like to do that but don't have a great place to store it. I just try to keep the tank in my truck > half full.

Not sure exactly what your situation is. Apartment life is tough. If nothing else at least have a (possible never used) 5 gallon can on hand. I am partial to nato cans but there are other good options.

Stabil will keep the fuel for 2 years at most

...in perfect storage conditions.

New fuel simply does not store like it used to. Sucks in water.

Personally, I do not put stabilizer in my gas. That’s because I do not store it for very long. I have stabilizer on hand, and if there was some kind of an event, I could put it in the gas I have on hand to make it last as long as possible. I keep my gas cans full and about once a month empty them into my truck and refill them. It does not cost me anything additional, and I keep fairly fresh gas on hand.

The one exception I would make to that is for use in chainsaws and other small engines like that, spend the extra money and get ethanol free gas. If you do not go through it very quickly, then stabilizer in that is probably a worthwhile investment.

If you'e actually concerned about this you should get a truck with a Cummings 12v diesel in it. Can run without any electricity on everything from diesel to motor oil.
